Nice staff! Awesome that they keep their Facebook page updated so one can find them. Awarded 3rd best in Boise food truck for 2015(with Pie Hole and Boise Fry Co. The leaders, both have brick n mortar restaurants as well) Young lady at the window and her brother told me her parents established it and it’s now on its 3rd(4th?)ownership since but the family still helps. Disclaimer: I am a fish n chips snob. Anyone who had the good fortune to know Molly’s located in the bowling alley — Napa, CA is ruined for life I’m sure– and I’ve been on a lifelong search for good fish n chips ever since Molly tragically passed away. I came close ONCE in New Zealand(and I ate them THREENIGHTSIN A ROW *blush*) but never have I found fish n chips that rivaled hers. Not even close I have found some good ones here and there, not many around here. River Rock ale house had some pretty good ones before they closed, but they were *crumbly* instead of *shiny* batter. And shiny batter is better IMNSHO Here’s my run down — Fish was fresh and quality but needed salt(and I rarely add salt) — Portion was reasonable; not huge pieces but a lot of fries served with –tartar sauce was good and costs 25cents for extra(I don’t do malt vinegar so you’re on your own there but it’s a packet) — priced well. I got a 4 piece to share with my son and a Coke(in a can) and with the extra tartar it was $ 12.25 — Fries are meh –those thin ones I see a lot around here with feint crumbly stuff on the outside. Not *chips* which are basically well cooked steak fries, which I believe should ALWAYS be served with fish n chips. Because you know, *chips* — the batter eludes me. It’s… Different than any batter I’ve had it’s not shiny, nor crumbly. It’s clearly a homemade recipe and it reminds me of … Well, A failed attempt at chicken fried steak I once had in my own kitchen. It is Darker in color than any I’ve seen, and VERY thinly layered, maybe too thin, but this beats too much mushy bread-y batter around the fish any day. If this fish were served to me fresh from the kitchen, hot on an open plate I would have LOVED this batter. But it’s not. It’s packaged in a styro container with all the fries to go home with you(my trip was 10 minutes) and unfortunately the end result after the steam bath(they put the order down when i placed it– very hot) is zero crunch or definition. Kinda slimy. This makes me sad Because it has so much potential. Finally — I taste a little bit of old grease on all the products. I’m not dinging them for this because it is so slight that I bet if I went there tomorrow it wouldn’t be so. I think I hit them on the last day of their oil change dates. I can tell they are conscientious, and proud of their product. If I could give them a 3.5 I would but I will err on the higher side here because of the fish quality and the friendly staff. I’m not opposed to trying again, but maybe I’ll eat them in my car. I’m still on the hunt… And don’t we ALL wish there was a better method for packing fried foods to go so the steam doesn’t ruin them?

I have to say I’m not usually a fan of fish but when my friend said she wanted to try this I was game. We shared a 3 piece and found it to be plenty of food to fill our bellies. The tartar sauce was great, the fries hot and crisp, and the fish tender and tasty. There was no fishy odor anywhere to be found and the service was fast. We enjoyed our food in the parking lot with the sunshine. I’ll definitely be back.

Portion was very small, nothing like the pictures on the page. More like fish nugget. They were very busy. The fish was under seasoned and super greasy. We were excited to try this food truck out but very disappointed. Tarter sauce wasn’t from scratch.

Way disappointed. I had the 2 piece fish and chips and there was hardly any fish. One piece was 1“x3“and the other was 2“x2″, and those measurements are generous. On top of that fish was greasy and the breading was mush. I had heard good things about this place and was eager to try, as I consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur. Maybe I caught them on a bad night, I don’t know. Anyhow, I won’t be eating there again. On a positive note, the fries were OK.

Found the Kilted Cod Friday and just had to try it out. Wow, am I ever happy! The fish was fresh, moist, flavorful, not overly battered, and the fries, ohmygosh, the fries! I love that the lady taking my order offered malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Also, she was incredibly pleasant! I told my entire office about KC and I wIll Return!

I thought the portion was a little small, and kind of bland. More importantly, I thought the gent a bit rude. Those two combos don’t seem to work for me. I did like the light batter. I wish he had serve lemon with it, I think it would have added a great amount of flavor. It wasn’t too greasy. I probably will pass next time. I don’t expect forced or disingenuous service, but maybe check yourself when going out the door.

I’ve been a fan of the Kilted Kod for years. I’m not usually a fish and chips type of person but these are the best I’ve ever had! The fries have changed for the better and perfectly compliment the lightly battered fish pieces. My in laws were stationed in Scotland while in the Navy. I finally had the chance to introduce them to the Kilted Kod and they’re hooked. They both agreed that it reminded them of Scotland and they are the best Fish & Chips in Idaho. The Kilted Kod can be found at various locations around town. The best way to keep up with them is Facebook and it’s worth seeking them out. My husband and I stopped by the Food Truck Feast on Wednesday at Amity & Maple Grove. It was the perfect dinner to grab and take home to enjoy while watching shark week in the pouring rain. I swear the rain makes it taste better! For less than $ 10 a meal you get a very generous serving. They offer several different sizes and they also have delicious chicken strips for those that have not acquired the taste for fish.

We were at slanted rock brewery just a few minutes past 7. I didn’t know the truck closed at 7pm(who the hell closes a food truck at 7pm??? Especially at a brewery?). The side window was open, so I walked up and after the guy finally acknowledging me I asked him if he was open. All I got back was a rude and snotty no. This was the rudest food truck owner I’ve ever dealt with. I will never order anything from him again. I’ve had his fish before and it’s really not all that great anyways, I’ve had better at skippers. So if you have an urge to eat from this truck don’t. But if you’re starving and nothing else is around, get there before 7pm or you can deal with mr. Rude.

Off the charts great… as I require my fish & chips. But here’s the rub: 95% of even great f&c joints have HORRIBLE fries.(Yes, «chips» I know. This is the USA) the fries here are FANTASTIC!!! If I hated fish, I’d still come here for the fries. Don’t miss this one…

I went around 2pm on a Friday. No one else was in line. My order got fried up while I waited, piping hot and fresh! It was a good amount of food(2 big pieces of fish and fries) for $ 6. Loved the tartar sauce. I would definitely go again. In hindsight, it probably would have been better to eat the food there, rather than driving it home.

Some of the best fish and chips I have ever had and I grew up in the bay area in California! Even my boyfriend who«doesn’t like fish» loved them. We’ll definitely need to order two of the larger portions next time! Thank you guys for being so friendly and putting forward such a yummy product!

Love this place for fish and chips. Always delicious fish. Chips are American style, the the meal is served in newspaper. Trick is finding the location of the truck. Worthwhile if you have some time.

I’m a fan of fish & chips. Always heard that the best fish & chips was at EPCOT at disneyworld’s Yorkshire County Fish Shop. I’ve also been to the northeast and northwest supposed heavens of fish and chips in the US. Those were all pretty good… but to my surprise I was amazed at what the kilted kod produces. I don’t care what«authentic» fish and chips are as I’ve certainly had those. What I care about is taste and value. You can’t beat this place. For about a year they were close to where I worked. Nearly everyone in my office frequented the place several times a week. The fries are nearly as tasty as the battered fish. Whenever I’m near this wonderful place I always try and get a double order of their fish & chips. Always a consistent and fresh product.

*****five star food truck?***** (Not sure how to classify) Ive seen them around town for years; but I’m always leary of food made in a pull trailor. A dear friend had convinced me its ‘good’. Boy were they wrong… its AMAZING! The fish is fresh and moist. More fish than breading… which by the way, is super crispy and delicious! The fries are the best fries I’ve ever had.

I drive from Bend, Oregon to Boise, Idaho for the best Fish and Chips ever. The Kod is so fresh, it melts in your mouth. The chef and staff are the best. I dare you to find a better Fish and Chips anywhere!

I grew up in New England, then lived in NYC for 6 years and now I am in Boise. Had the three piece fish with fries and I was not disappointed whatsoever. Most people try and overcomplicate fish, but not these guys, the food was fantastic! Not too much batter, big meaty pieces of fish which tasted fresh and delicious. The fries were also pretty damn good considering they were fresh out of the fryer. I always thought it would be impossible to find decent seafood so far from the ocean but the guys at the Kilted Kod definitely made me feel like i was at home with that lunch, and all for about $ 8 which is absolutely amazing! I would recommend this place over and over again, especially to my family from the east coast when they come and visit! I would gladly and easily give them 5 stars any day, nice job guys!
