This place is legit. It was a restaurant featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives and it lives up to the hype. There is always a lot of different burgers, sandwiches, and dinners to choose from. One of my favorites is the tuna melt. It’s a great place to take the family as well. It’s a little bit out of the way if you don’t live in Boise, but worth the visit. I only gave it 4 stars because every time I go there seems to be some sort of cleanliness issue, but nothing that would be concerning to the health department. Happy eating

I’m not sure why we keep going there. I think we like the concept, so we keep trying and hoping it will get better. It never does. Last time I went, I ordered the special«Shepherd’s pie» soup. Sounded good to me. It was terrible. A few pieces of dried up corned beef and a few peas floating in a tasteless broth. This time, I tried a sandwich and and salad. The salad was fine. I didn’t realize the sandwich wasn’t grilled(it came cold). There was a big fuss when we asked for it grilled(I’m pregnant and not supposed to eat cold cuts). This was our fault though, we didn’t ask if it was hot or cold(just assumed it was hot). My husband tried to substitute milk instead of soda on a hamburger combo. It was as if we had asked for the moon! They couldn’t figure out how to ring it up and we were given a huge up-charge. The hamburger was small and clearly previously a frozen patty.(Seriously, sonic does better hamburgers). The service was terrible. The cashier at the front couldn’t answer any of our questions on the menu items. Every time we asked a question, she had to run to the back to ask them. She didn’t even understand the sandwich and salad combo. She rang up our order incorrectly(thus the huge up-charge), but by that point we were done. This was the third time I tried this place and we have always walked away thinking«that was the weirdest experience». Now I just need to remember to stay away!

My whole family loves coming here! The menu options are endless and every single thing any of us have eaten is not only filling, but super delicious! This is another place I bring people from out of town and they love it every time. I love that we almost always have leftovers, and many of the basket meals you can split if you aren’t looking for a huge meal. They also have a good beer selection! The food is great, the people are nice, the music is awesome(though I bet the staff goes crazy because its all the same songs from classic times) but while you’re there it creates a good place to have a conversation because the music isn’t super loud. The location is nice with lots of easy parking or there is a drive through option!

Went in on a weekday slightly before lunchtime. The menu was bigger than expected and I had a few questions. The cashier was not rude but acted a bit like I should know things and was not the most patient. Had finger steaks and a fish combo with gems(aka tater tots) both of which were delicious. For being fried items they weren’t greasy and seasoned very subtly. Also the portions were good for the price. After we left the dining area we decided to drive through and get an ice cream potato. Yummy. We will go back next time we’re in the area. I hope the food is consistent.

Well the fry sauce is the best. Food was not nearly as good as I had expected from them in the past. Shake was great as was the service. I was disappointed in what I have had in the past from west side. I’m not sure if this is the norm as I have not been here for some time. Hopefully next time it will be better.

Quite literally the best drive-in food you will have. I have been going to this place ever since I was a child and the recipes have remained the same or vastly improved. You must try their teriyaki or Cajun burger with a veggie burger substitute. And don’t forget to try the fries and the fry sauce! It’s all homemade. I see a lot of complaints about how long it takes for you to get your food here. It’s an old-school drive-in. Don’t expect fast food just because it has a drive-through window. The idea is to give you the typical Americana 1950s appeal of a drive-IN restaurant, not a drive-THROUGH restaurant. Every time I come into town to visit, I am sure to get Westside drive-in. Cannot recommend it enough.

Terrible service: Old lady taking orders is partly deaf and dismissive of customers. I wasn’t done with my order and she cut me off. I pulled up to the window to continue my order and she was upset that I didn’t mention it at the receiver. Then after I mentioned an item I wanted to order she closed the window to place it and didn’t let me finish again. Never going back there again. State Street location has way better service. Too bad that Parkcenter is a great location, just absolutely terrible service.

Terrible service. Bbq bacon burger tasted terrible I literally had to take everything off it to try and salvage any taste to include relish, who puts relish on a bbq bacon burger then the 5 lbs of shredded lettuce had to take that off as well and to try and save the taste and not cause a scene I just put ketchup packets on it in which the ketchup tasted terrible. Basically a horrible«fast food restaurant» disguised as a diner. Not to mention the entitled girl who worked the front when I asked to grab me something told me to go inside and get it myself.

Talk about slow service. We will NOT go here again. The kids wanted Subway, but I wanted Westside so a couple of friends and I went over. We would have gotten faster service by going to a Dennys or out for pizza. The gal at the register was super slow; there were 3 people ahead of us and we waited 15 minutes to have our order taken. It took another 20 minutes to get our food. Needless to say our kids at Subway were wondering what happened to us Even my guacamole burger disappointed me. Really thin patty and very bitter onions. And there were a lots of them. My suggestion? Skip the over-priced food, slow as molasses service, and mediocre food and head to Subway where you are in and out in 5 minutes and the food is always great.

Seriously fun place with great food. Had the firehouse burger and butterscotch shake. Asked if they would make buffalo onion rings which was not on the menu. They were phenomenal as well. Place was busy and our food was prepared quickly. An ideal location for family dining. Feels like you’ve jumped back a generation without over doing it. Don’t forget to pin where you are from!

A simple review. Lots of easy parking, good selection of good food, great shakes/malts, priced fare, and nice fast service. Wife and I eat here when in the area.

My girlfriend and I both ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and a large fry. The burger had an obscene amount, no wait, a comical amount of onions piled on it. It was as disgusting as it was wastful, and we both love onions. I wonder if anyone at West Side has actually tried the food they’re serving. I wanted a little burger with my onions.

Went here for fries and soda and they gave my dog a treat!!! It was a little pricey and the food quality was moderate. They’re a Pepsi carrier if that’s important to other coke lovers like me.

YEP. As they say, we tried it and once again… DIDNOTLIKEIT once again. Perhaps the menu of «CHEF» Lou was popular in the ’70’s yet this is 2014 an it just doesn’t work. On the other hand, if one become efficient and stuck on STUPID it may still work for a bit, yet when we tried the Prime Rib again, we found it was OVERWHELMED with rosemary and too much PEPPER. When we asked for our food med rare and it comes out OVERDONE, it’s a huge FAILURE. At any rate, my advice to anyone trying something new or for the first time, this is NOT the place I would recommend. It’s bland and OVERRATED. SORRY«CHEF» Lou, your«gourmet» drive in food IS history. Besides, hire quality people that know how to EXCITE your customers rather then toothless, tattooed people who resemble someone who just fell into a tackle box. Oh, and IF you try this JOINT, I suggest you bring your own bug spray cause they are uncontrolled and unappealing. GODUCKS!

Can’t believe this is only a mile from Grandma’s house. Always stop here at least once every visit. Blackberry Blueberry milkshake seemed to be mixed with a highly addictive crack-like substance… Food is always great but they have too many(good) choices on the menu. Only having one stomach is a cruel joke here… Hope the ATF or DEA doesn’t confiscate the milkshake machine…

Ambiance: Big patio with live musician, nice! Cute 50’s style indoor seating! Even a drive through! Also love the American flags around the patio! There was also an American flag toothpick in my husbands burger! USAUSAUSA!!! Menu: Huge! Lots of options a little overwhelming! Service: Friendly & sweet! Food came out pretty quick especially how busy it was on a Saturday evening! Food: Both our meals came with fortune cookies, talk about fun! Philly Cheesesteak: Huge, hot, flavorful. Not the best I have had but not the worst! Teriyaki Burger: Husband really enjoyed it and said it was comparable to red robins bonsai burger. Tater tots: spot on! Mozzarella sticks: I didn’t like but my husband did! Side salad with ranch: fresh lettuce, decent croutons, slice of tomato, slice of cucumber & above average ranch. Good size. Would order again! Idaho potato sundae: Adorable obviously! The novelty of it is why we ordered it… I’m sure a banana split or shake would have been even better. Overall a nice evening. I haven’t found anything on the menu so far that has blown me away, but with how ginormous it is I am determined to find it!

Ate here last week for the first time! I would say the food is 9⁄10 and the service is 9⁄10 also, not perfect but pretty darn close! We especially loved that we were Allowed to bring our dogs on the terrace. They enjoyed the experience also and the free dog treat! Will definitely be coming back, the sweet potato fries were amazing!

It’s pretty cool to get to eat prime rib wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Normally, you have to cook it yourself to get away with this behavior. The prime rib wasn’t top shelf but it was pretty good. It came with a salad and a loaded baked potato as well. I don’t love my prime rib with rosemary(in general) but the flavor on this prime rib was good.

The food here is excellent, definitely worth the money! It’s a fair price. We ordered the potato wedges with chili and cheese that were on special and it was made with a fresh potato and homemade chili! Not frozen, not canned! Delicious! And if you’re looking for a homemade Ranch, you found it! Fresh and delicious comfort food!

This was our first stop on Burgerpalooza, in search of the best burger in B-town. So, mainly this review is concerned with their burgers. Firstly, I must say that all participants of Burgerpalooza immediately agreed that this West Side(West Side on the East Side as we call it) seems superior to their location on State. This is weird, right? I don’t know what the deal is. This location seemed to have a little fresher ingredients and the burger seemed to come out a bit hotter. Odd, I realize, but true nonetheless. Our motley crew of burger enthusiasts gave this place an average of 3.25 stars. So, a little over the a-ok mark but not quite to the yay, I’m a fan level. Their highest marks came in the«freshness» category. Their lowest marks came in the fries category(except for our beloved Cannonball Jack who somehow rated their fries a 9 on a 0 – 10 scale… but he was most certainly the exception). Other notes: Love that they have indoor seating at this location and the ambiance is fun with it’s 50’s-style-diner décor. The service was fast and courteous. They put a nest of shredded lettuce on their burgers that is a little overwhelming. They have fry sauce(Yay!!) and add a dab of it to their burgers(which I was unsure of and ended up enjoying well enough). Like their State Street location they have an expansive menu so if you’ve got a large group to feed, there is bound to be a little something for everyone. Overall, for the purposes of Burgerpalooza, a decent burger at a decent price.
