We have ate here several times over the last few months, the service is prompt and the servers polite and helpful. The food is some of the best in the Boone area in my opinion, I have tried the cream of broccoli soup as well as the lentil and the chili, all are delicious. I have eaten the philly and my husband has enjoyed the jamaican turkey sub as well as the chipotle turkey press. If you are in the Boone area, this is a wonderful place for lunch or supper. Nice atmosphere, and a great place to eat

FOOD? I had the roast beef smoked gouda pressed sandwich with potato salad and sweet tea, and carrot cake for dessert. It was good, but not memorable. Salt and pepper helped. Carrot Cake. An honorable mention goes to the large slice of carrot cake… it was delicious. SERVICE? I was greeted and given my choice of seating as soon as I entered the front door. Service was good from the App college student(s). My server seemed tentative, but then again he did call me «sir» which showed that he was well mannered and courteous. DECOR? The décor was pleasing to the eye, but unexceptional. CLEANLINESS? The sanitation score at 94.5% was about four points lower than I expected. Egads, it has been MUCH worse, B grade, which is very surprising given the restaurant’s good reputation and location. The men’s restroom was fairly clean, but surprisingly there was no mirror… which was unusual. DAMAGES? My bill with tip came to $ 20, a little steep for a sandwich for a late lunch. RATING? Why did I give them four stars? Well, I’ll tell you. The food was pretty good, not destination worthy, «I’d make the one hour drive to eat there» worthy, but tasty. I would definitely come here again. PLUSES? The restaurant is located on King Street, aka Main Street, in Boone. There’s plenty to see and to do. Parking? Not a problem. There were no empty parking spots on the street, but then again I didn’t expect that there would be any spots available. A right turn at the stop light and there were plenty of three hour parking metered parking spaces within easy walking distance of King Street, a brewery, Mast General store, etc. Just turn right at the light going west. RECOMMENDATIONS? The ODB sandwich is HUGE and definitely lives up to it’s name. If I were not allergic to poultry, I would have ordered this. It is easily large enough for two people. HUGE! The reuben is supposed to be good. They have great soups of the day and a nice salad selection. Beer! The menu is literally full of vegetarian options, from a black bean burger to salads to tempeh burgers, soups, nice desserts. Our Daily Bread is just a nice restaurant overall and one to which I would definitely return or recommend without hesitation.

Great mushroom soup and Turkey press! Lots of beers available, but most were ipa or stout.

Service good. Food good. Nothing was great. Certainly better than a chain and some place I would return to when in the mood for a sandwich. Only complaint, nasty restroom. Apparently the facilities clog when the place is busy.

Exceptional food, mediocre service. Our family of 4 adults had the Gouda Heavens and the roast beef & Gouda, with pasta salad, potato salad, meat chili, and loaded potato soup. All amazing! Melted in your mouth delicious! We also had some mouthwatering pies for dessert. Excellent! But even though it wasn’t that busy at the time of day we went, we were neglected for long periods of time, and waited for several minutes for our bill. At one point we looked and there was 6 people standing behind the counter, not doing anything but talking.

I was looking for a place to take my brother for his birthday dinner and stumbled onto ODB. Our server Andrew sat us right away and served us a couple of drafts(brown ale for my bro and a nice microbrew IPA for me). When I narrowed the choices down to three different kinds of sandwiches Andrew suggested a couple and I took the Basil Press, which was not to disappoint. My bro took the tempeh Reuben which was very good. The ingredients were fresh, the sandwiches were hot, and not a single ingredient overpowered the other. When we finish my bro ordered the butterscotch cheesecake at Andrew’s suggestion. He thought it was great. ODB was clean, has a nice décor with local artist works, has wood floors, tables, and has original brick walls on one side. It reminded me of a brand new bar, café, and deli, all mixed together. Acoustic background music was playing and there was a single TV by the bar. This restaurant it’s been here since the mid ’80’s or so and I’m sure it has history with the local Boone residents and students. If you want a great sandwich, vegan or meat, this is the place to go

This place is always busy at lunch, and for good reason. The food is delicious and never disappoints. The staff is friendly and the owners are as well.

ODB is a very tasty sandwich shop. I always get the smoke stack with their jalapeño tomato soup when I come. An excellent combination! I have to say that the food is far too over priced and the serving sizes are far too small for any college student to come on a regular basis.

Went to this place over the weekend and of course it was packed! That’s always a good sign! The atmosphere was great and they seated us really fast even with a large party of 7. They food was all good except my mom had to wait till she almost finished her food before they brought out the soup she ordered to come WITH her meal and then it was COLD. Other than that it was great, I’d go back just not when they were super busy.

Don’t let the long line or crowd of people outside discourage you from trying Our Daily Bread if you do not have a lot of time. We were faced with the crowd this past Friday but it was only a 10 minute wait and service was super fast. My husband got the smoke stack and I ordered the California croissant. Though both sandwiches are on croissants — they weren’t too heavy — filling yes — but we didn’t feel overly stuffed. I wish we had time to come here again on our trip to Boone because there are so many delicious sounding sandwiches.

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us to the Boone/Blowing Rock area in the mountains of North Carolina. Our first stop is Our Daily Bread, a casual upbeat delicatessen. From the menu, you can tell this deli focuses on blending unique ingredients together to make unusual sandwiches. I chose the Smoke Stack, a combo of smoked components(smoked turkey, smoked applewood bacon, melted smoked Gouda), along with chipotle aioli, tomatoes, and spring greens on sourdough bread with a side of Sweet Basil Corn Chowder. Loaded with corn in a creamy broth and a sweet basil undertone, the soup was great. But the sandwich was outstanding. All of the different smoked flavors worked well with the chipotle aioli, and the toasted sourdough bread held it all together. Dora here. Since we visited on the Fourth of July, I opted for the daily special, the Red White & Blue Chutney Sandwich. Smoked ham, melted brie, balsamic blueberry chutney, tomatoes, roasted red pepper aioli and basil leaves pressed in cranberry French bread. Hello! Blueberry chutney? Doesn’t that sound fabulous? Well, it was. A melt-in-your-mouth mixture of everything I like about breakfast and lunch. Yum! Definitely adding this place to our«must visit» list. We rate this restaurant 4 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant serving great food. ~Ernie & Dora Hiers, Fiction Faith & Foodies Blog

Great daily selections. The food quality is really fresh and cooked well. You know it’s a great sign when a lot of locals eat here and it’s busy. I was impressed on how fast they turn tables and seat people. The fact that it’s in the heart of downtown Boone right where all of the shopping is located is a bonus. When you come here make sure you cross the street and visit the Mast General store. My daughter loved the ODB sandwich, I had the Apple walnut salad and it was delicious! The décor is really rustic and cool, the brick walls and antique ceiling offers a great atmosphere. Don’t forget to order a desert, they are home made!

Awesome lunch spot in downtown Boone! We popped in here after walking around downtown, and we were really glad that we did. Pro’s: –The food. Delicious, huge sandwiches! Highly recommend the Chipotle Turkey sandwich as it was amazing — great flavor and high quality meat. –The value. A delicious sandwich for $ 8? Great budget friendly lunch option. –Great for families and groups! –Delicious beer on tap, and a huge selection to pick from. –Great service. Con’s: –Dessert was great(they have a bakery inside the restaurant) but it felt a bit overpriced for what you get. –It’s a little loud, but if you’re with a group or small children that’s actually a good thing. –Tables felt a bit crowded and cramped.

Friendly, delicious black bean burger, Philly cheesesteak, ham panini good, but«special sauce» was mustard/mayo and party member not a mustard fan. Clean, comfortable, fresh food, excellent service. And the carrot cake? The best I have ever had! Moist, scrumptious tastebuds treat! Highly recommended!

Our daily bread is one of my favorite places to eat in Boone. I think they have gotten even better over time. They have a beautiful bar with a great selection of beer and a tempting dessert case. The prices are low. I had the roast beef and gouda with vegetables. My sandwich was really delicious and all of the ingredients went so well together. They really get a good press on their sandwiches and everything was hot. My husband had the reuben and liked it as well.

This is a super chill spot I’d been meaning to try for months before I finally was able to go last weekend. I heard that they had vegan rueben sandwiches and as an avid sandwich eater, I couldn’t not go here. SPOILERALERT: I didn’t get the rueben but what I did get was super tasty! The beer selection here is superb. I had a green apple cider and the waiter said he hadn’t tried it or seen anyone order it yet. It was sweet with just the right hint of sour. There wasn’t a wait when I went which is unusual because every other time I’ve tried to go here, there has been a line out the door and a two hour wait… those times always coincided with game day weekends though. I decided to try the vegan BBQ sandwich although next time I already know I’m trying the reuben! Per the waiter’s recommendation, I had the potato salad as my side. Both the sandwich and the potato salad were pretty good. I’m not a big spud fan, but the potato salad was better than others I’ve had. The sandwich was excellent and super fresh as I expected. I really want to come back and try more of their veg-friendly menu. Hopefully the next time I come there won’t be an excruciatingly long wait! The food really is awesome, which reflects the long wait times… but I just can’t fathom waiting two hours for food no matter how good it is.

I wasn’t that impressed with this place. We came in around 7 pm because were drawn in because of the soup specials only to find out they were sold out of all of their soups. We ended up ordering their tempeh philly and turkey jerk sandwich. Both were really mediocre. Even the bread wasn’t very impressive. The vegetarian chili could have been out of a Amy’s can. The only reason I’m giving them 3 stars instead of 2 because of the large vegetarian selection. Their desserts also look delicious. Maybe that would have changed my mind.

5 star service(at the bar — server was great! Felt like we could be friends after this meal). And a lot of the sandwich and croissant options looked amazing. Unfortunately I tried the NOTDOG(vegetarian hotdog) with veggie chili and cheese. While the veggie dog itself was pretty good, the chili lacked in every way. It was mostly just beans in a tomato sauce. For me, the not dog was a miss. But the beer options were great, the service was outstanding and lots of food I saw go out looked significantly better than what I tried. For those reasons I’m ranking up to a four. It’s definitely worth a second try.
