I loved this place. My wife went crazy over the chocolate martinis… The brick oven pizza was unique & delicious!!! I’m going back today!!!

After going to The Lost Province Friday night, my wife selected The Local for Saturday night, we were not disappointed. We had a nice time sitting out on the porch while sampling a flight of beer each. Our waitress could not have been more cheerful and her suggestions were on point. Check it out if you have a chance.

Love this place. It used to be a spot called Char, now it’s just awesome. I love the local breweries and specials. $ 2 drafts right now! I got the Boone version of a philly cheese steak that had smoked Gouda. Omg. With the outdoor deck and awesome atmosphere, you cannot go wrong.

My wife and I visit Boone several times a year, and we always try to visit a different restaurant at least once while we’re in town. We had never visited The Local before this weekend, so we had dinner there this past Sunday night. The food was surprisingly good(and lived up to the hype I had read in other reviews). I had the Brazilian steak with plantains and black beans– so delicious! I’m not sure that I’ll be able to order anything else when we go back. The craft beer selection was good, but they were out of several of the rotating taps listed on the menu. The service staff was very attentive and friendly also. They seemed to be well-trained. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star review is the seating arrangements– my wife and I were seated at a table for 2 sandwiched in between two loud 4-seat tables(which were both full) while two other 4-person tables nearby were empty the entire time we we were there. We could have asked for different seats but by the time the tables around us were full we had already ordered our meals. Anyway, it’s a small complaint for an otherwise good experience. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

I really enjoyed the food and the service here. I ordered the steak and frites and the demi glaze with it was great to dip my frites in! How it was served was not the best way, as the steak and demi glaze were on top of the frites, which were all on top of the arugula. I shared with our waitress that the arugula didn’t seem to fit into the dish and it just seemed like a garnishment than something you shouldn’t be eating. It was difficult to get not soggy fries, but the overall taste was great. I would definitely come back.

We’re just in town for a few days and are so glad we found this place. The food was pretty good but the service and ambience really made it a great experience. We felt very welcomed and would love to come back if we ever are in town again.

Not sure what was better, the food or the service! The«Best Brussel sprouts you’ve ever had,» were as advertised and the Boonie Burger & Carolina Bahn Mi were both delicious. I hate that I didn’t take a picture and wish I had tried more of the menu. Highly recommend this«local» place.

I’ve been here twice and though I really want to hate this place, I don’t. Despite the trendy atmosphere and presence of far too many hipsters(actually saw a guy here with shorts and basketball sneakers and blue faux fur coat that had little ears on the hood — I swear it’s true — and a burly mountain man beard to boot) it’s not a bad place to go. If you’re a hipster or into that sort of shit it’s probably perfect for you! The food has been good on both visits. I recall a grilled cheese with figs that was rather tasty and an unstoppable plate of BBQ nachos with some kind of awesome Cheerwine BBQ sauce. That quinoa bowl got a good report as well. The service has been acceptable as well. The waitstaff seems to stay very busy but I haven’t caught them slipping yet not even during a packed music show. I really hate trendy. I loath paying for atmosphere that I can’t eat. Everything inside me wants to scream out in protest. But, it’s actually pretty good.

We were having a late dinner around 9 p.m. I ordered the Brazilian steak with out black beans but it came out with black beans on it. The burgers were overcooked. The service was very bad. They were setting up for the band and they kept coming up asking us to pay the cover charge which makes no sense after all of the money we just spent in drinks and food. It’s a beautiful restaurant but I would not recommend it to anyone. At least for the food.

Great food is on the sign and the sign fits. Started off with nachos and then stapled the fig and bacon grilled cheese, philly, fried green BLT, and a burger. Everything was delicious. Great waiter and even better craft selection. This will be on the list from here on out.

Boone is nice little town, all the places I’ve been was a great experience but I had a bad time on this bar. Me, my wife and another couple could not get in because«the manager» didn’t accept his Valid ID from another country. He came from another country to visit Boone and the mountains and on NEWYEARSEVE he was blocked because«the manager» didn’t accept his passport. I felt really bad and we moved to the sushi bar next to it and we had a very good time. Me, as AMERICAN, would never go back or recommend THELOCAL in BOONE. It is a very local place and they are not welcome to foreign costumers.

Delicious brussel sprouts, had the chimichurri skirt steak dish with fried plantains and it was awesome… cool vibe in the bar too!

LOVE this place. I come here often because the food is delicious, the beer is better and the atmosphere is great. I came last week to celebrate my friends graduation and I was very disappointed. The service was SO slow; waters stayed empty. The waitress was also not friendly nor pleasant to be around. I’m a waitress myself and key to a good tip is fast, efficient and friendly service. This girl failed. The food was okay. My friends chicken was burnt, my chicken was cold and my Mac and cheese kind of tasted like it had been sitting out. I’m sure I’ll still go here but I’m disappointed in the service this time around.

Good food. Good atmosphere. Live music often. Love the Wednesday evening jazz. Free parking if lot across the street not full. Owners seem to be good community patrons.

Wish I found this place earlier in our trip. Wonderful food. Very ambitious menu which they appear to pull off if our experience is normal. Fried Brussels sprouts? Who dreamed it up? It’s tossed with their«secret sauce» of soy sauce and orange juice. Fantastic combination. The sauce was also in Precious’ order of Thai Beef Tibits. I enjoyed my fish and chips although the fries came out cold. Our waitress immediately said she’d comp us a dessert and brought hot fries. That’s good service. Finally we were delighted to find one of our favorite petite Syrahs on the wine list. Michael David’s Petite Petite. Highly recommend if you like the varietal. We will certainly return next trip.

Checked it out based on the positive Unilocal reviews. Had the Boonie burger which didn’t disappoint at all. Cooked perfectly. Definitely a top 5 all-time burger. What was a bit of a letdown was the demeanor of the staff. Now let me make it clear that no one was unprofessional or rude. But honestly I just didn’t find any of the staff to be very friendly which as a first timer which was something I was hoping for. The guy at the bar– while he answered all my questions adequately– was straight faced and workmanlike in his approach. Now I can relate to this– I’m the same way a lot of the time– but when you’re a bartender this isn’t the type of demeanor that is going to bring people back. And the place was not busy at all for a Friday night. By comparison I went to three other places in and around Boone this weekend and the bar staff was much more friendlier and inviting. I have no doubt others are genuine in their love for this place but just letting people for some of us the experience hasn’t been as welcoming.

Great place! Went for a late lunch on a weekday around 3pm. Got a «halfie»(half pint) of a stout beer and the quinoa bowl. My friend got the kale salad. Staff was really friendly, accommodating and attentive. Wish we were staying for Wednesday jazz night(which they seem to do in the fall) but we’re just in town 2 days. Nice vibe, good drink menu(including local beer too). Could see it being great for a date or to meet up with friends. There’s a parking lot across the street if there’s not parking right in front. Update: received the sweetest note from Colton, the General Manager. So nice they go out of their way to reply to reviews. I was happy to learn it’s a family owned and operated restaurant. Yay!

My friend and I stayed in Boone for the weekend. We decided to go to the local based on reviews. We were seated right away. The outdoor seating is perfect. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer, and they were fantastic! I ordered the fig and bacon grilled cheese sandwich. It was served with homemade chips which were absolutely delicious. My friend and I ordered the beignets. The food was great and I wish I could give this place five stars. I had to take away a star because the service is lacking. Our waitress took 20 minutes to take our order and then took 20 minutes to bring us our beer. Overall we were there for probably there close to two hours because the service was so slow. I don’t know if this was an isolated incident. If you don’t mind waiting around, this place is an excellent restaurant.

The fried pickles were great and the atmosphere is really cool! I got the Korean BBQ tacos and they tasted good, but they’re definitely not Korean. They should just be called pork tacos. I guess since its Boone, they can call anything kind of asian authentic!
