After a tiring day of hiking, we came here to unwind. Of course we had our 18month old precious cargo with us and I was so glad this was one the few bars in the area that had a high chair :) I am not a big beer drinker, but I was interested in getting acquainted to it. The waitress were friendly and brought in some beer to taste. I loved the grapefruit beer. My beer lover husband said it Tasted nothing like beer, but may be that’s why I liked it We ordered three appetizers, tapproom nachos, beer pretzels and fried mac n cheese. We loved all three of them. The nachos were top notch and so were the dipping sauces for the pretzels. Though they had a high chair, they didn’t really have a kids menu. However our daughter did enjoy their fried mac n cheese.
The environment was great… reminded us of being back in school. Just a great place to come for a drink, snacks and have a good time!

Pork nachos were outstanding, the hot sauce on the wings was above average and Asian Fusion Burger was the right mix of flavors. Great experience. Sam F.

I’ll skip talking about the beer… you can read about that elsewhere. The food is wonderful. I think I’ve probably eaten everything on the menu and it’s all great. No doubt the best bar food in Boone. Great burgers, chicken, tacos, wraps and more. The sides are awesome as well, especially the pub chips and sweet potato fries. My only complaint is that the parking is absolutely horrendous, and the restaurants next door are obnoxious. I’d love to see them open another location sometime!

Visited the Tap Room on my trip to Bristol (Nascar). Chill place with an extensive beer selection. School was just getting started so kind of quiet. Service was outstanding and loved the Football photos of the Michigan upset.

The food is bar food but good. The Eye Opener is a great burger! Excellent selection of liquor and beer! They have seasonal draft selections and everything is well priced. Great place for ASU pre game!

The absolute only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because the porch is on the front along a busy road (like the others in the same plaza). We had our dog with us so it just made it slightly more complicated getting him settled in.
The staff were so friendly and wonderful with both us and our pooch. They provided water to another customer for her dog who was there before us which I thought was extra classy. We brought our own water and bowl, but it’s nice to know they really do care about the dogs that come visit with their parents :)
Our waitress (yay for Allie) struck up easy conversation with us over the beer and cider my husband and I ordered. We were clearly out of towners so she was able to make some recommendations on local places to visit. She even read my mind and brought out a napkin dispenser shortly after she delivered our food. I thought that was so nice to not even have to ask for extra napkins!
The food was delicious! We had the Tucson burger and the chicken tacos. The tacos were my fav (& messy hence my need for extra napkins)! We would absolutely come back!
Tip: Avoid when the sun is setting this time of year, it goes below the umbrellas and it makes it a little uncomfortable to see.

I must say the staff was super friendly and the prices were quite fair as well. The downside is its location for myself which is mainly host to a lot of the really wasted students and greek culture. I would prefer to go in the day vs the night if you want more relaxed. The food was above average for a bar and done correctly as well. Nothing amazing but not bad either just good and simple. Overall i would go back.

Best bar in Boone, hands down! Best pub food, Burgers are great! Good rotating tap list. Decent wings. Can’t miss here!

Excellent burgers, wraps, and tacos. Easily the best bar food in Boone. They always have a good selection of beer on tap, and servers are more than happy to help.

Great place. Friendly staff who really get to know you and it has an excellent location. I wish the prices were just a little lower but it’s worth going to anyways. I’d say it’s quite a bit more classy than some surrounding places. Great beers on tap and excellent food during the day. You must try their tacos!!!

My wife had the shrimp tacos and I was going to have the hot pepper and the bartender recommend the philly style hot pepper. Which was an awesome recommendation!
Service was excellent. Atmosphere was chill.
Food was great, their one desert «chocolate covered vanilla bean brownie was a little rich.
I feel like they could have a better selection of drafts but great overall experience:-)

I almost never write reviews… but this is on of my favorite places in the entire state. Beer selection is second to none, food is always great, and the bartenders are superb. Honestly nothing negative to say about this place.
Can also be a really fun place on weekends.

Note: Did not eat here. That being said, I felt like the place was still a pretty solid place. I did however, drink beer here and they had a decent selection of both bottle, cans and taps.
The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was very sports bar like and comfortable. Nothing about the décor really stood out for me but that’s not important. What is important is that it was a nice clean location for a few cold beers.
Judging by the other reviews I might have to come back to try the food.

Came here not expecting to get that great of a food but was wrong, the hamburger was actually really good and I would definitely eat here again. Great atmosphere for a bar and love all the App State things on the wall.

Ok, TApp Room, you have a new crush!
On a recent trip to Boone for ASU Alumni Day, the Alumni Association held a get together here. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had scoped out the menu online & was really impressed with all the offerings.
Our college-​aged waitress was really friendly & efficient. She checked on us a few times and was never overbearing.
I settled for the Crispin Cider to drink (AMAZING) & the Asian Fusion burger with fries. Within 10 minutes, my meal came out. The burger was HUGE. I wish there were words to describe how delicious this burger was. The burger was juicy & the red onion, sriricha sauce, cucumber, & avocado toppings really set it off! The fries were hot & crisp.
The bar isn’t huge, but I love that it’s filled with ASU pictures & memorabilia. They have plenty of TVs that of course had basketball games & ESPN.

Wow… I mean, this could be one of the best surprises I’ve had in a while…
We were in town for a basketball tournament and looking for a place to watch the Carolina/​Duke game when I came across another stellar review of this place from a fellow Unilocaler… The specials for the day stretched from food to beverage and offered a few good choices… The group I was with tried a lot of different bites and drinks…
Drinks: The whiskey sour my boyfriend’s sister and aunt had were good… I tried the beer flight for around $ 5… I had the North Coast Prangster, French Broad 13 Rebels and the Anderson Valley Winter Solstice… I loved them all…
Food: The beer pretzel appetizer comes with two huge, full sized pretzels and mustard… They were crispy on the outisde, soft on the inside and piping hot with just the right amount of salt… The queso that you can order on the side has a simply divine spiciness… It was packed one heck of a wallop… Loved it! I ordered the BBQ sandwich and I was incredibly happy with my decision… The sauce was a little zesty and there was just a perfect amount of sauce… It didn’t make the bread soggy, but the pork wasn’t dry at all… Instead of the fries, I ordered the potato chips and they were simultaneously crisp and chewy in all the best ways… My boyfriend’s sister got the wings and they were well-​done on the outside and properly sauced… She enjoyed them thoroughly… My boyfriend got the buffalo chicken wrap which he said was good, but the fries were meh, according to him…
Service: The service was okay for me, but others in my group had a few gripes… While the server was basically on target for me, my boyfriend said his beer was empty for quite a while… Also, the busboy came by and picked up my boyfriend’s aunt’s glass before asking if she was done with it… It almost did not end well for him… lol
I will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area…

Great location across the street from Appalachian State’s campus. Nothing too quirky or outlandish about this bar, just a good location, friendly staff, great vibe, and good beer selection. A few nice TVs make it a great place to catch the game. I went in on a Sunday afternoon (non-​NFL) and they had an Italian soccer match on Fox Soccer, which means there’s more where that came from. Hard to find up in the Boonies. Definitely worth your visit!
