I live in San Diego and do a lot of hiking and camping in Anza-Borrego State Park. I like to stop at this quaint place to grab a coffee and relax. I only wish they were a bit more sustainable and wouldn’t use styrofoam cups.

My husband has been coming out to Borrego Springs for years. One of the things he raves about are these amazing sandwiches from this little shop! Well, could have fooled me! Do not come here hungry. I got the daily special Pastrami on sourdough for $ 5.95. Literally three thin slices of pastrami on sourdough. There was more mayo than meat! I’m all about supporting small businesses but keep your money in your pocket and keep walking…

Got hung up on while I was asking about to go orders. Was also told they were«still open» but couldn’t make any more pizzas tonight. Called at 6 pm and they show they are open until 7 pm. Worst customer service I have ever had.

Veggie pizza, delivered to our RV, was a pleasure we did not expect. Pizza is hot and delicious. Greek salad a bit soggy, but tasty. What a surprise to have good pizza delivery in the desert!

Really enjoyed the clam chowder! It’s a unique cross between Central Coast creamy and Salinas Valley herbal –yum! Prices are really low, especially for the fresh ingredients and quality of food way out here in the desert. The veggie pizza may have been the best I’ve ever had Can’t wait to come back and try a classic SoCal desert treat: DATESHAKE

Got ignored for a good 5 minutes waiting to pay cash for a coffee to go. Not in a huge hurry but felt like I was being ignored while staff looked a couple of times at the register and continued about their business. Good coffee and Nice ambiance and good looking pastries.

Small, casual, but super friendly and quality homemade food. Wonderful service with a DELISH veggie filled frittata and good strong coffee. LOVE this place!

This has happened once before – how can you not have orange juice for breakfast? Walked out and went back to Kendall’s for fresh squeezed…

I love the quiche, the coffee bar flavorings and the pastries. I think of Calico’s for breakfast, but then I had them make me a sandwich, and later we had a pizza delivered. So this little shop has it all. They offer Wi-Fi and a computer for travelers to use. The attention to detail… nice people, and tasty food.

Calico’s benefits from the fact that they’re the only game in town. The pizza really wasn’t bad — but for pickup, 1+ hours is way too long to wait. Pizza takes 15 minutes to make. I came in — ordered — was told 30 – 40 minutes. I thought that was a long time but hey — we were craving pizza. An hour later I saw them taking care of people who were screaming the loudest(not us). I also saw people come in to pick up pizzas they phoned in(there was no record of them ordering). When I finally got my 2 pizzas(one came out 10 minutes before the 2nd one — exact same pizza) I asked if it was normal for them to take 1+ hours. They replied«yes, when we’re busy». I asked why they told me ½ the time and expressed my regret at adding $ 3 to the credit card tip. They just said«sorry, have a nice night». Like I said — pizza wasn’t bad but I will NOT be back. Expensive, no customer service, and a bad attitude. I’ll grill burgers myself the next time I’m in town. –c. PS: Some recognition and a ‘sorry’ would have gone such a long way,

Imagine coming out of the desert and straight Calico’s for an ice cold date shake. Yeah, that hit the spot. Next time? Pass shake and give me another hit!
