Having rented hundreds of cars over years of traveling for work, this past weekend we rented from Alamo in downtown Boston for leisure along the coast on a Fall day of leaf watching and lobster rolls. The 4 staff members with whom we had interactions were very professional in making the process smooth, and even more outstanding in being personable and very helpful when offering suggestions in response to our questions. This is a very convenient location for car pick up and return. However we went in to pick up a reserved car on a Sunday morning and the line for check in was extremely long and slow. The location has only two check in desks. There are two kiosks, but nothing posted to say what they can do or how to use them and and not apparent until you are almost inside the door. The car we received was good for our trip.

Honestly, this experience really was a good as it gets! From the time we walked into the Alamo office, we received outstanding service… all the way from the front desk (I’m so sorry I can’t remember the name of the woman who attended to us, because she was incredibly helpful) to Monica who was managing the actual pickup of the car in the garage. The car was almost new, spotless and afforded us exactly what we needed for our road trip. We picked it up in Boston, and dropped it off in Orlando… and the whole process was seamless!

I love this location. It’s right by the aquarium (and aquarium Blue line coming to and from airport) and it’ll offer better prices than if you pickup at the Logan Airport location.
Check out was quick and easy, although I wasn’t too happy we got stuck with a VW beetle. I’m not too picky with rental cars. Just please be clean and don’t break down on me.
The location was great for us because when we returned the car, it was a short walk down Atlantic to South Station, where we took Amtrak to NY.

Absolutely outstanding customer service. The most professional, courteous, and helpful car rental experience I have ever had. My family’s flight was delayed and we arrived 25 minutes after the office was scheduled to close on a Friday night. But, Monica was there, having agreed to stay late when we called the office in a panic. Monica took care of everything we needed and was so professional, pleasant, kind, and helpful through the whole experience. I see in other reviews that Monica is not the only employee who has provided such amazing service, though she gets her fair share of shout-outs! You won’t go wrong using this Alamo branch for your Boston car rental needs. My family was grateful we had chosen Alamo for this particular rental and plan to do so in the future.

I usually rent from another company but Alamo has me as a loyal customer, they met all our needs from easy pick up of our nice clean car and no hard sell of extras like insurance, gps and gasoline fill– up! Return was easy too with a short wait both times!
The people in the office are completely professional and know what they are doing!
Cars are spotlessly clean!
It’s nice to know there are still companies like this around that want your business!

Had the best customer service I have ever experienced renting a car. Monica was Aaaaaaa-mazing. After traveling all day and arriving flustered at this branch five minutes before closing, I did not have high expectations. She did everything possible to make my experience a positive one. It was a wonderful end to a hard travel day. As a separate but related note, this branch is super easy to get to from the airport.

Made a reservation on line via
for the off airport location (about $ 15 less per day on a 9 day trip). Asked Alamo (national help desk) about how to get from airport to the off airport location, and they said I am responsible for that (which is fine I will get a taxi). But still want to make sure that a taxi can be arranged from the car rental drop off; to the airport during the return. Got same answer that I will need to arrange. That was completely unhelpful; as I do not know how to arrange taxi with who? Will the off airport drop off set me up with a taxi when I return the car? How about a direct phone number to the off airport location? How about confirming that I can get a ride to the airport from the off airport location?

Rented a new Chrysler Town and Country to take my son to college. 2,000 miles over 5 days. Car was magnificent, amazing creature comforts, DVD player built in and SAT radio. Who knew listening to Hits from the 70’s and 80’s would be so much fun? Darlene provided absolutely great service, in and out in less than 10 minutes. Can’t wait to use them again!

There wasn’t exactly a wide selection upstairs, but I was satisfied with my car.
All in all, this was a good experience, but they were a bit understaffed to handle the amount of customers during the weekend I was a customer here.

Rented a car here about 2 months ago, the gentleman working was very friendly while still being professional (I believe his name was Chris). Renting was easy and returning was even easier.
This is pretty much walking distance from South Station, Government Center/Faneuil Hall.
If you’re from Boston and can, try to go to an Alamo away from all the touristy stuff for better rates, or book using a third party site.

I rented a one-way minivan for my roadtrip. With my work discount, Alamo was the cheapest at just over 1k for a week plus one day rental — unlimited mileage, 24hr roadside assistance.
There are only 2 locations in Boston — Logan airport and the Atlantic Avenue location. The Atlantic Ave location is pretty convenient. You can take the blue line to the New England Aquarium or the orange/green line to haymarket or fanueil Hall and walk over.
The gentlemen at the counter was very friendly and helpful.
