I appreciate their use of Starbucks coffee for those really snowy or rainy days when I don’t feel like walking the extra two blocks. I’m also obsessed with Evelyn, who makes a mean toasted bagel. It’s quick, easy, and I’ve never seen anyone spread cream cheese so neatly and efficiently. Also, I always get a friendly smile when she hands me my bagel which is a great start to any day!

I am going to have to disagree with these reviews. I frequent Berkeley at least 1−2xs a week and it’s always superb. The service is exceptional especially by the gentleman on the weekends who may be the owner. I love love love love their Avacado and sundried tomato melt on a wheat wrap(I add in chicken) it’s addictive. I sadly order it EVERY time I go. I also enjoy the atmosphere and coffee blends. The deserts are pretty good. I usually get a raspberry lindsey(i think that’s the name) which is tasty. My husband has tried the bulk of their menu and never has a complaint. He favors the tuna sandwich which looks delicious. The only things I’d change were I wish they would bring their Izze’s back. I do not like their new beverage choices. I also wish they had high chairs.

The Berkeley Café was once known as the«Berkeley Coffee Stop,» a more accurate name in my opinion, since the reference to «café» is at best aspirational: Three tables and six stools pushed against the wall opposite the entrance do not a café make. With its giant coffee urns, steaming cauldrons of over-salted soup, pre-made sandwiches, shrink-wrapped pastries, and bagels buttered to order, management might be shooting for Au Bön Pain but the vibe I get is decidedly 7 – 11 minus, of course, the homeless guy panhandling out front. For those who work in the buildings connected to the Berkeley Café, it’s a place to go for morning coffee or a quick snack without braving the elements. If you’re pressed for time, it’s also a place to grab a sandwich or some soup before running back to your desk; although, speaking as someone who does not eat at his desk out of consideration for his associates, please remember that other people work beside you and no one wants to smell your chili or the remains of your Greek salad marinating in the trash. There are tables at the Berkeley Café – use them. Or maybe consider missing a meal: Given the fare at the Berkeley Café, it probably wouldn’t kill you.

With only one review, I’d figure I’d at least toss my comments in. I stop by here nearly every day. Its convienient being located in the lobby of the building I work in. I usually get a bagel, which I believe are Finagle’s. Who’s working depends on how much cream cheese you get… there is one girl who does a really good job putting the cream cheese on, one that puts on such a thin layer I can see through the other side, and one that just doesn’t know how to spread the cream cheese around well. Went down once for lunch, didn’t find anything to catch my fancy. With all the choices in the area its more of a quick-fix kinda place than something I’d make a plan to go to.

Sorry I spent most of my lunch hour sitting @ the Genius Bar @ the Apple Store, and I had to grab something here on the way back to my cubicle … but what’s YOUR excuse for rushing today? I basically found a WING in my chicken salad sandwich. Thnx for the nightmarez. :(
