Overcharged by three dollars for precisely every drink on the bill. We spoke to a manager who refused to match the advertised prices, stating that the +$ 3 up charge is the policy of all Boston hotel bars. As Boston natives, we know this is false — and for a rum bar to charge a higher than advertised price under the assumption that«most people order mixed drinks» off their rum menu is just unconscionable. Will never give them our patronage again.

U can’t get into the champagne lounge without renting it. Strike one. And the Rumba room? Well it’s nice if u are staying at the hotel but don’t make this your evening destination. The ambiance was killed by several families with kids(yes at midnight), everyone in genes, flip flops, t-shirts and shorts. Very casual. Don’t dress up or you will feel out of place. Mainly hotel guest and late age adult business travelers.

Verdict: Fun lounge for mingling or sitting with friends, perhaps for a more sophisticated, not wild, night out. Visited on a Sat night while staying at the hotel. Side room was closed for private party, but they had a DJ in main area. Must watch tables like a hawk to get a space(some very pushy women stole a table from me while I was sitting down to hold it for me &2 friends.) Quick drink service from server or bar… we enjoyed prosecco and a ginger martini… But take your time enjoying them or your tab will grow exponentially.(Ok so that’s the lesson with any swanky place, right? A lesson not learned by my normally beer-drinking, typically lightweight friends. Too bad it was my turn to pick up the tab. Sigh.) I’d go back if I were staying in the immediate area.

I LOVEEEETHISPLACE. This place is all about rum, Mojitos to be specific. I came for a Mojito making class and fell in love with this place. Hidden off to the side of the bar are red doors with golden handles. Enter and you find yourself in the swankiest place in Boston. Mini chandeliers, red velvet couches, dark wood walls, campagne bottles scattered about. This place is quiet, classy, and romantic. Great place to take a girl for a drink and sit and chat…

Stars for ambiance, décor, and beautiful bar. Not more than 3 because it is filled with a much older crowd. By older I mean 40−60s ish. Location is further from downtown Boston so you really have to trek here to want to come here and if you don’t like it… you’ll have to travel a little more to go elsewhere. Too bad, looks nice but I doubt Id be back unless I was older :)

Swankity swank swank swank. Velvet couches, private bar, sexy lighting, huge bottles of bubb on display… this spot is wall-to-wall baller baby. The Champagne Lounge at RumBa is the ultimate in VIP lounges. And how so? Peep the mansion-like double doors at its entrance. Exclusivity just jumped up a notch. No wannabes lingering around, no unsavory types trying to mack off your vibe and certainly no popped-collared kids pretending like their fly while they run up mom and dad’s CC. Forget nabbing an overpriced table at some overhyped club. Spend some time with a few close friends in The Champagne Room for party that’s a little more classy and a lot less trashy.
