Decent food for a med school cafeteria. The soup is cheap, but hit-and-miss with the flavors. Tried and true faves are the vegetarian chili and the chicken and dumplings(only on Thursdays). Cons: They’re cash only and can get busy during peak lunch hours. Pros: Relatively inexpensive, a decent number of health-conscious-friendly items, and really friendly staff.

Best french fries that I’ve had in awhile! They only accept cash but prices are reasonable.

Best deal ever: Veg chili and bread: $ 3.50 Second best deal ever: Greek wrap, complete with feta, black olives and pickled radish: $ 4.50. A nice little family run restaurant with friendly people who work incredibly hard. They have a nice variety of healthy options, and stock a variety of sweets. This is in the basement of the BU med school; don’t go there on a date.

There are two branches of this place. One in the Dental School and one in the Medical School. Chequer’s has your basic sandwiches and they best thrive with their soups and Mediterranean fare. There cash only though so it can be a pain. As a cafeteria in a office building it works though. They also cater if you’re in a pinch around the medical campus at BU.

Checker’s is a little eatery in the basement of the Boston University Medical Building. They offer your typical lunch type foods,(fries, burgers, deli sandwiches) they offer some really random specials(I think today’s was spicy salmon) and they offer an amazing variety of soups. There is a penny candy set up-or as I like to call it a Sour Patch Kids buffet(THEYHAVEFOURDIFFERENTTYPESOFSPKANDYOUCANPICKANDCHOOSEASMANYORASFEWOFEACHTYPEASYOULIKE!!!) This is bad news for me, as my office is right above Checkers and I face a little bit of what you might call a Sour Patch Kid addiction. They also have gigantic, warm, cookies that are oozing with chocolate and peanut butter. Sometimes I meet with people from school and talk about things like heart disease and obesity while enjoying one of these cookies. Their fruits and veggies always look a little beat. Staff is extremely friendly!
