I just can’t get enough of the chickpea fritter sandwich. For real… it is just amazingly good. I’m not a fan of red onions but they’re always happy to take them off for me. Pickled veggies are pleasantly tart and combine super well with the savory tahini/chickpea flavors. I’m not veg… but eating at Clover makes me think I could be if I had access to this food all of the time!

I have loved to try more from the truck, but during a recent trip to SOWA the first three things we tried to order(two drinks and one food item) were on the board, but they were out of it. We settled on something else that was ok, but not memorable or crave worthy

While visiting the SoWa Vintage market, I decided to get a bite to eat at one of the food trucks outside. BESTDECISIONOFTHEWEEKEND! I have never in my life had such a delicious, mouth watering SOYBLT. It had the perfect combination of fake bacon, fresh lettuce and ripe tomato, with a dab of mayo. It was exactly the way I like it. The saltiness of the faux bacon was perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the ripe tomato, and the adhesive mayo. On top of the delectable food, this was also incredibly reasonably priced($ 5 for a sandwich in Boston? Seriously doesn’t get much better than that) and there wasn’t a long wait, considering how many people were ordering. A+ to the amazing Clover Food Lab. You made my day!

tl;dr: $ 5 sandwiches, pleasant staff, convenient location, tasty food, even even overcoming its handicap of being meatless. As a non-vegetarian, I still really liked it. The $ 5 prices and convenient location drove me to giving the Clover Food Lab Truck at South Station a try, and I’m glad I did. I went for the Barbecue Seitan after the extremely helpful, not to mention generally pleasant, cashier/waitress/server(what do you even call her job title if its from a truck?) answered my completely n00bish questions about it. It’s basically a tofu substitute(yes, a substitute for a meat substitute) but has a firmer, slightly stringier texture, making it more like«meat.» At first I was skeptical, but the texture was actually pretty good. Mix that with some bbq sauce and you have a winner. It’s not super filling, nor is it mind-blowing, but I thought it was a really good sandwich for a really good price, and it gets a small bonus for being vegetarian and still satisfying me after I’d been on the hunt for a steak sammich. Up next: The Chickpea Fritter!

I had been interested in checking out the SoWa Market for what seems like years now, but when I heard that the Clover Food Lab was stationed there on Sundays, I knew it was time to get my ass down there. First stop: Chickpea fritter sandwich. Okay, seriously? What an amazing sandwich. The bread had perfect consistency to stand up to the lightly battered falafel which was bathed in a beautiful hummus surrounded by the rest of the fresh tasty ingredients. With each bite, I sighed a little and my smile got wider. Each taste brought in new elements that all made perfect sense. And for $ 5? Seriously? Unbelievable. Just eat one. You’ll get it.

The chickpea fritter sandwich is GREAT. It is basically a glorified falafel sandwich, but it’s done very well. The hummus is just enough so that it’s not too gooey and overpowering the other pickled vegetables. It seems to be their bestselling item; I think if you order their more popular items, it will come faster. One time I ordered this, and it took only a few minutes. Another time I ordered a Soy BLT, and it took a lot longer. The Soy BLT is pretty mediocre compared to the chickpea fritter; I wouldn’t recommend it.

can now eat Clover Food without leaving the hood. even better, don’t have to make lunch after workout Sundays or get showered/changed to go brunch. lots easier to walk over to SoWa market on the way home from gym and sit out on the brick w/other diners. had falafel on soft pita loaded w/hummus, cukes, slaw, tomatoes and tahini sauce(would really be ballin with some fried eggplant). grab some hot peppers on the counter cuz it’s really good with.
