If you can wait til they open at 8a, it’s probably the best breakfast option in town. Finding food in the downtown/financial district area is not an easy task. Most places are either priced for expense accounts, or they’re not open when you want to eat(early morning and weekends). I was staying at the Omni Parker House and really appreciated having Clover across the street. The popover sandwich, which came with tempeh bacon, was great. Pour over coffee was always a sight for sore eyes. We also grabbed a quick dinner the day before. We very much enjoyed the BBQ Seitan Platter, the Chickpea Fritter(aka mini falafel) Platter, and the ginger soda and kumquat soda. Service from both shifts was friendly and helpful. My only gripe about many of these food truck origin restaurants is that they don’t move away from the deposal-ware. With a brick-n-mortar location, let’s do some dishes. Reusable cups and plates and silverware have to be more eco-friendly than any bio-degradable options.

the breakfast sandwich and chickpea fritter are a must try. they are no longer a food truck but a restaurant next to Walgreens in downtown. If you get the breakfast sandwich get it to go so they don’t break the egg. I think it taste much better when the yolk spills out on your sandwich.:)

Had to grab a quick bite and happened upon Clover food lab, chillin’ by the common. Did a quick scan of Unilocal and it seemed people were going gaga for the chickpea fritter sandwich, so that’s what I went with. Disclaimer: I am not one to like vegetarian things. That being said, I thought the sandwich was just ok. It was quite colorful and it tasted healthy, but not BAD healthy, if you know what I mean. Meat eaters, this probably isn’t going to be your thang. The fries with rosemary was tasty but not too standout either. I would probably come back since it’s not terribly priced and fresh quality, but the wait was too long for me. I understand that it’s all freshly prepared, etc. but when I’m the only customer it seems a little ridiculous to wait 10 minutes for my food!

Love this truck! This truck pretty much sets the standard for the rest to follow. Try the chickpea fritter and Rosemary fries with Vietnamese iced Coffee… lately I’ve been going to the one on the Common.

I eyed this truck on a few of my lunch breaks before actually trying it, and I wish I tried it sooner! I’ve stuck with the chickpea fritter sandwich and french fries with rosemary and they are both fantastic. The sandwich is well worth the $ 6 as it is packed to the brim with vegetable goodness and would probably fill most people up, sides excluded. Today I had the pleasure of trying the butternut squash fritters(with cinnamon sugar). I didn’t know such a delicious treat could exist. I guess they’re only served after 3pm but I highly recommend snagging some if you can. I’ve only gone around 2−3pm and even then the food takes a tad long to prepare, so I would say avoid peak hours if you could. If you read about Clover on their website, you know the food takes so long because it’s super fresh, so I have no problem with the wait — just gotta prepare for it.

I randomly stumbled upon a Clover Food Lab food truck at the Boston public garden one afternoon and was immediately intrigued by the menu. Everything seemed fresh and full of original flavors. For this time, i was excited to try the BBQ Seitan sandwich and just some regular iced tea. The sandwich was served in a pita with some lettuce, tomatoes, barbecue sauce and the seitan — i believe they told me it had cheese as well but i don’t remember tasting it. Overall, the ingredients were simple and the flavor was spot on. Although i’m very familiar and do love vegan and vegetarian food, i had never tried a meatless sandwich before(unless you count grilled cheese and peanut butter and jam — but i don’t) and still enjoyed this one. They were also nice enough to offer me some fries to sample so that was cool. Even though i wasn’t blown away, i think its an interesting food truck and was satisfied with my meal — its worth a try!

Todays menu consisted of Chickpea Fritter(30 minute wait), Egg & Eggplant Sandwich(Sold out), BBQ Seitan(Sold Out), French Fries with Rosemary(Sold Out), and a selection of drinks(all Sold Out) Luckily, I ordered the BBQ Seitan(a fancy name for GLUTEN) which is a gooey sloppy mess. It would taste MUCH better if they used CHICKEN. Clover is OVERRATED.

After an awful meal at a nearby restaurant I was left hungry and decided to try out Clover. I had the chickpea fritter sandwich which was great, but difficult and messy to eat. The pickled vegetables added a fresh, bright flavor and a satisfying crunch. They also lightened up the fritters and other heavy components. Together, all the ingredients created a delicious and memorable sandwich. I also had the rosemary fries which were good but not the best I’ve ever had. Clover is a great place for a quick, inexpensive meal made with fresh, local, ingredients. I will certainly return to their labs(trucks) to try out new items they are offering.

Get the cinnamon lemonade you won’t regret it! Im a fan of chickpea fritters and all that jazz yet I’m picky in terms of pickled veggies and viniger in general therefore ive only ordered the fries and a beverages. I grew up going to work with dad on construction sites so eating off a truck is nothing new, its nice to see healthy options rather than chinese and taco trucks. Overall I wish they offered small salads in addition to there current menue, just made that day it would make things a bit easier for pickyer eaters or for people in a rush that just want a salad and a drink.

Omnomnomnom. The egg and eggplant sandwich is so delicious and messy. Rosemary french fries: can’t go wrong. I’ve tried the BBQ seitan, and it’s super good, but it is onion-y(I have an allergy). And you can’t go wrong with any of their fancy lemonades. Be forewarned if you’re feeling like iced coffee, though: they’re still going to make drip coffee for you, which is very good but may not be the thing you need if you’re in a rush.

Huge fan of this food truck. For one, they have made the common a great place to hang out at night. Fountain + chairs and tables + food truck = what this city needs more of. The people at the truck are great too. Super friendly and clearly passionate about the food. The chickpea fritter is awesome. To me it is a lighter take on the traditional falafel. It’s a good size and fills me up. The BBQ seitan is also really good. I was told it came with cheddar but my pocket was without any cheese. The fries are meh. No real rosemary flavor. Time to go back t the drawing board on that one guys. Support your local food truck and eat here!

I came here to check out the chickpea fritter sandwich since I had heard so much about it, and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed! Yummy! The fritters themselves could be served alone. They are fantastic, bursting with flavor! The sandwich is dressed with all kinds of veggies, some of which I wasn’t able to identify, but whatevs. It was colorful, pretty and it tasted good, so I ate it :-) I went to the Park St. location, which is fairly new. I wasn’t able to find it on Unilocal,so I had to post the review here. Anyway, the staff is very friendly and the service was quick. Two thumbs up for that :-) Most things are the menu are $ 5 and under, another thumbs up! I must say, I am impressed by this place. I will definitely return here to try out of few more things on the menu.

Keep doing what you’re doing, Clover, and you might make an honest man out of me. (-1 star because the rosemary fries I had last time lacked even a hint of rosemary flavor, and the otherwise delicious BBQ seitan sandwich skimped on actual seitan)

We have a show in Canada called Eat St, and they show food trucks all across North America. We saw an episode a few months prior to our trip to Boston, and we knew we had to try it. We came for breakfast around 10:30 am and we were lucky, we ordered the last two sandwiches, i felt bad for people coming after us for breakfast and they were sold out so early. It was a basic egg sandwich, it was $ 3, and it was perfect, slightly messy with the yolk running everywhere, but satisfying. We also ordered a coffee, and all of their cutlery, and serving vessels are biodegradable. Another awesome thing about Clover, after i payed i noticed that their was no tipping jar. They do not take tips, they instead ask you to spread the good word, which i really respect. Overall clover is a great place to come for a quick breakfast or lunch item, just beware they are so popular that they tend to sell out.

I’m not a vegetarian by any means but everyone get can excited for Clover. You don’t feel like you’re eating vegetarian food at all and feel completely full and satisfied. The rosemary fries are super yummy and I really look forward to the egg and eggplant. It’s fried eggplant with hardboiled egg in a pita. The line here gets pretty long so you want to try to get here early(before 11:30) or late(after 1PM). Besides for the food itself, my favorite part about Clover is the fact that they are so contemporary. The greeters use iphones to take your order and they have iphones attached to the windows of the truck so that the people in the«kitchen» can see the orders. It’s awesome to see Clover in action =).

The chickpea fritter sandwich is my new lover. Every day I think about her around lunch time and my heart jumps. Who am I kidding, I think about her all morning. I know, you’re thinking, that’s just a falafel. And you’re right about the semantics, but this is no standard falafel wrap. It’s the earl of sandwiches. Not only are the chickpea fritters perfectly moist(sorry) and just the right amount of crisp, the toppings are outrageous. When I first ordered the sandwich, I didn’t know what would be on it. And normally, i’m picky about toppings and ask for no lettuce, tomato, etc. I’m not crazy about cucumbers, and I hate red onions. But the sandwich has pickled red onions and a cucumber tomato salad situation on it, and I practically licked the paper wrapper clean. There are also carrots in the mix, which are a natural fit. Even the bread is uniquely delicious. It’s not as thin and disappointing as a pita, nor as overpowering as a regular bun. It’s the perfect freaking thing. The folks working at the truck have always been delightfully friendly to me, and it doesn’t take too long to get your order even though it’s so fresh. They yell loud enough, provided you pay attention. And you will. Five bucks for the best sandwich seems entirely reasonable to me. I feel like I’m getting a major bargain, actually. I’ve had two of these sandwiches just this week. It’s been difficult to not get one every day, but I don’t want to come on too strong. You know how it is with new love, you have to dance that little dance and play it cool even though you want to be with your exciting new heartthrob every minute.

Just ate here for lunch after traipsing around Government Center for ages looking for them. It was totally worth it though. Tasty chickpea fritter sandwhich and cucumber agua fresca. Was sad the basil limeade was gone by the time I got there. Next time I’ll definitely order fries and maybe a salad, they sound and look really good too. So great to see so much vegetarian food in one place. Will upload photo of sandwich shortly.

I still can barely contain my excitement that the otherwise drab City Hall Plaza has now became a weekday food truck locale and that right in the center of it all is Clover Food Lab. In the past weeks since it’s opened, I’ve been a regular devotee for either breakfast or lunch or sometimes both. The vegan BLT is really good although i think it would be enhanced by a hit of Vegenaise to add another punch of flavor. I’ll ask next time if they have anything mayo-like to put on it. But it’s still yummy and at 5 bucks is a great value. The chickpea fritters are delicious; always fresh and hot. And as a special treat, get the amazing rosemary fries. I love them perhaps a little too much. The breakfast options include oatmeal with fruit and a couple of types of breakfast sandwiches. While there aren’t many menu items, what they do serve is tasty and satisfying. The options are all vegan and vegetarian… yay! The truck staff is always upbeat, friendly, efficient and seem to be having a fun time doing what they do. They open their truck window for service at 8AM and close down by 3PM. I was told these are the hours that have been dictated to them by City Hall. I do wish all the trucks there could be open longer. It would be nice to stop by at the end of the day for something to eat. I’m like a bee buzzing straight for Clover, but I will try the other trucks soon. With the good weather upon us, I’ll be walking down here a lot more. It makes that boring brick plaza, at least for a few hours a day, hum with a bit more excitement and life.

BBQSEITAN! I never knew vegetarian fare could be so damn good. Surprisingly, my carnivore appetite is satisfied. Clover is always super fast, so you get your food in a matter of minutes. These food trucks are the hot young thing on the block right now, and the lines during lunch have grown like a fungus over the last few weeks. I’ve seen camera crews milling about a few times, but today, as a friend and I grabbed our sandwiches and scouted a spot in the sun, a cameraman from a local news channel approached us: Cameraman: «Can I ask you guys a favor?» me: «umm.sure?» Cameraman: «Can you sit next to that guy and eat? I just need a shot of three people eating together.» us: «uhh…ok?» Cameraman: «Oh I can’t see her – ok can you move over here?»(pointing to the seat next to said guy) *friend moves over to said spot, and now said guy is nestled between two girls eating sandwiches dripping BBQ sauce* Cameraman: «Hey, now you have two new girlfriends!» Guy: «Oh when is this going to air? My wife is going to kill me.» As we munched on our delicious Rosemary Fries, some guy walked by and yelled, «ROSEMARYFRIES!», followed by my, «OMG, WE’REFAMOUS!» Ok, maybe not. The fries are more famous than we are. So we nibbled on our sandwiches like squirrels(attempting to eat on TV and not look disgusting is damn near impossible!), enjoyed our BBQ Seitan, and possibly ruined a man’s marriage. Go CLOVER!

Clover Food Lab’s Rosemary French Fries have changed my life. All fast food French fries preceding these pale in comparison. Some restaurant fries can’t stand up to these long, herbaceous beauties. The Rosemary French Fries are reason enough to love that Clover is now within a 3 minute walk of my office. I am ecstatic that Clover has set up shop at City Hall Plaza. This location is great for commuter’s leaving Government Center T stop to grab a breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee. The crowds in the recent weeks has shown how much food trucks are loved, and have been needed in this area. I’ve been making my way through the menu and the standout favorite for the lunch sandwiches is the Chickpea Fritter. This reminds me of falafel without actually being falafel. I love the take that Clover has on the chickpea fritters. Everything they do has a slightly slant on it to make it their own, like brown sugar lemonade. I’d never think of that combination working since I don’t imagine molasses and lemon going well together, but again Clover has worked their magic and pulled off a great drink. I’m looking forward to the summer to sit out on the plaza planters and enjoy new seasonal offerings that Clover creates.
