I seriously cannot believe it’s taken me this long to write a review for Keri. I’ve always been really low-​key about my hair, getting haircuts maybe once a year, boredom-​cutting myself some bangs over a bathroom sink, and letting my hairbrush gather dust on my dresser. I was really nervous about dyeing my hair purple, knowing that it’d take a lot more maintenance — but it’s turned out to be amazing! Keri treats my hair with such care and artistry that it looks great in the salon and for months after each visit. She knows I don’t spend time on my hair when I’m not sitting in her chair, so she gives me cuts and color that fit with my lifestyle and look super fun. I’ve been raking in compliments on my hair since I started seeing Keri seven months ago — cannot recommend her highly enough!
Also, the salon is great. I was greeted by name from the first time I walked in, and offered my choice of water, tea, coffee, or wine — so sweet! The space is clean, bright, and beautifully decorated. It’s a really soothing place to get pampered.

I’ve been seeing Julie for years (even before cut splice opened) and I would give her twenty stars if I could. She’s wonderful at finding interesting and thoughtful ways to keep my haircuts feeling fresh, whether it’s a trim or a totally new style.
Perhaps the truest test of a good cut – I always get tons of compliments on my hair. At this point people tell me ‘You always have great hair styles,’ and that is 100% because Julie does incredible work.
Cut Splice is a fun, warm, unpretentious salon. I love chatting with everyone who works here, I always feel welcome and well taken care of, and I get to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine during my cut/​color. What more can you ask for from a salon?

I’d gotten trims at other salons in Charlestown but wasn’t terribly impressed. After doing my research I booked an appointment with Vildan at Cut-​Splice. I knew I wanted about 10 inches cut off my hair. Vildan totally delivered on a super cute above the shoulder length cut. She was very thorough and even took time to show me how to style it. I’m extremely pleased with my experience at Cut-​Spice with Vildan and psyched to have found my new salon/​stylist!

Laura Crosbie is a MASTER hairstylist. I have wavy to curly hair, and she cut it so that I can wear it anywhere from flat-​ironed to naturally dried curly, and everywhere in between. She cut off at least 10″ and I wore it all summer — hot and humid as it was — and was still getting compliments up to the day before I went back in to get it restyled.
Today I asked her to do color — I don’t have a lot of gray, but I didn’t want to see what I have. The color she gave me is so natural but warmed up with some red overtones. Stunning! I’m so happy with what she’s done for me.
It’s also really nice scene in the salon. Everyone who works there is friendly and I feel pampered. Thanks, Jeff, for the great head and neck massage!

I was a walk in tourist off the street, but Beth still took the time to create trust and still let me feel in control (I’m a bit of a control freak). The whole team were friendly and welcoming.
Beth saved me from bad hair days. She handled the cowlicks and idiosyncrasies of my short hair and the challenge of three stages of growing the grey back in with talent and confidence. Beth balanced good advice with listening to my feedback.
I’d go back again and again if I didn’t live on the other side of the world.

One year later and I am still thrilled with Grant at Cut-​Splice. I love my hair, the color and cut.
Grant is great: will chat with you, work with you and make you look like the best version of yourself.

I was recommended to Beth by a friend, and I would highly recommend her. My last haircut (in CA) ended up A LOT shorter than expected, so I’d spent the past 6 months growing it out. I showed her how short it had gotten cut and what I was thinking of instead, and she totally delivered. I absolutely love my cut and the salon experience was great. I’ve recommended her to other friends now too.

I can’t say enough great things about this place! I have tried several salons since I moved here 6 months ago, but none of them were the perfect fit. I found this place in the navy yard and it was wonderful! My stylist, Laura, was not only so sweet, she also mastered the shade of blonde I wanted. Everyone else in the salon was so friendly and helpful. The place was also very clean and decorated so cute. I’m so happy I found this place and will definitely go back! Highly recommend!

I have been going to Julie for years now, and when she moved from her previous salon to Cut Splice, there was no question I would follow her wherever she went. She is amazing. I am extremely fussy about my highlights, and Julie nails it every time. Sometimes I like them lighter, sometimes darker, and I don’t like streaky highlights or anything that looks bleachy. Julie is able to change my hair color while still making it look well blended and natural. I get so many compliments every time she gives me highlights!
She is also great at cuts, and I trust her completely. She is not afraid to tell me that a particular cut won’t work on my hair type, which I really appreciate. She gives suggestions when I am looking for advice but also delivers exactly what I want when I want something specific.
In short — Julie is amazing and you will not be disappointed if you go to her!

Grant is awesome at cuts and color. I am a blonde and I love my foil. Layers in my hair gave my hair instant life and body. Nice to go to a shop with great stylist and not have to deal with the traffic drama of going into the city and dealing with parking meters

After going to the same hairstylist for 20 years in NYC, I’ve dreaded looking for someone I’d feel comfortable with in Boston. Thankfully, I decided to take a chance on cut-​splice since it is right down the street. Grant immediately made me feel relaxed and I felt reassured that I was in good hands. Besides giving me a great cut, I appreciated the small customer-​friendly details such as providing free coffee/​espresso/​tea/​etc. I would highly recommend him and the salon.

I visited Cut-​Splice for the first time today, and I could not be any happier. What a great location and space, but that’s just the beginning. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the services are second to none.
I had my haired colored and cut by Grant, and this is easily the best my hair has ever looked. He took the time to talk to me and really figure out what I wanted, and then went to work with his magic. I hadn’t had my hair cut or colored in a year, so it was a lot of work. He didn’t rush and even updated me from time to time on what he was doing.
I would recommend this salon and Grant to anyone and everyone! I will, without a doubt, be back. Thanks for the amazing work, Grant!

Julie is the best! I’ve had my hair cut/​colored with her for almost 4 years now, and I would follow her anywhere! I’ve come to this salon specifically to continue seeing her (she recently joined the cut-​splice team) and it was totally worth the new journey to charlestown. I always enjoy coming to see Julie and having great conversations with her… and the convos are totally not in the fake small talk way that I’ve experienced with many stylists, but in a totally sincere, fun, and interesting way. She remembers me and my hair bush visit to visit!
And did I mention that she is an amazing stylist? She very expertly brings a unique twist to classic styles (done super well so my hair when I wait too long to get a cut still looks great), and from what I’ve seen, she does more adventurous styles and colors very well, too.
Also, whenever I have an idea for a new style, she brings her knowledge into making suggestions that would bring my idea to life, yet still keeping in mind my hair type, my personal style, and lifestyle — and has prevented me from mindlessly hacking off all my hair which was simply a reaction to a life change — thank you Julie! And– after each visit I feel so luxurious and pampered that I feel that the only appropriate thing to do after would be to slip into a nice, warm, bubble bath.
Yeah, she is the best.
This place is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard, so it’s at a beautiful waterfront location. It was a little tricky to find the place by car, because one of the streets you need to turn on to get here looks like you’re not supposed to drive on it or is a private way. So, don’t worry. it’s a public street and you can definitely turn onto it.
The aesthetic of this place is super hip, clean, and modern. The online booking system is very convenient and user friendly.
Come check this place out. you won’t regret it! You’ll learn more about it on TV one day soon. And you can take a boat here!

I’ve been getting my hair cuts from Grant for years and was thrilled to see Grant has opened his own place! Grant is passionate about giving the perfect cut and really listens to his clients and giving them what they want. Grant is also passionate about training and learning new and different techniques and keeping up with new trends and styles as well as making sure his staff is equally as passionate. Plus the salon itself is in a beautiful spit in Charlestown right on the water.

Grant is a hair/​color whisperer. He’s been making my dome a better place for years. And as I get older, everybody in my life appreciates this.
When I first met Grant, I had a major issue with some bad color in the lengths of my hair. He quickly remedied that and has since just worked his magic on my color and cut.
Anybody with a need for good or any color — Grant is your man. He is amazing with my hair cut as well. I have really (too) thick hair and for once in my life it is manageable.
Grant is in his element in his own shop. I am so happy for him and proud that he made the leap!

Are you one of those people who just can’t seem to find the right stylist? Maybe you go back once or twice because that first time seemed to go well but realize soon after that the stylist didn’t really get you or what you were after. I was that person too, until I met Vildan over a year ago. She is fantastic and she is at Cut-​Splice. She is such a professional and incredibly personable. She truly listens and consults with me to make sure I am happy with the look I am going after.
The salon itself is in a great location (right on the waterfront!) and beautifully decorated. They strive for a wonderful customer experience from offering a nice beverage to giving relaxing scalp massages during your shampoo. You will definitely enjoy your experience at this salon but most of you’ll love the way you look!

I tried Cut-​Splice for the first time on Saturday and I was a bit nervous, but with the great Unilocal reviews I figured why not! I had Vildan as my stylist and she was absolutely fabulous. Took any fear or bit of nerves that I had right away and my hair has never felt better. I loved that she took the time to understand what I was looking for and she definitely exceeded expectations. I left feeling like a million bucks! I will definitely be back here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new hairdresser. I am sure glad I came across them!
