Prices have gone up about $ 1-$ 2, which is unfortunate considering the major selling point is the price, not the quality.

For late night or fast food it is satisfying. It is exactly what you would expect so it gets 4 stars.

Grab-and-go loaded taco box(3 with your choice of protein, rice and beans) for ~$ 11. It’s plenty o’ stuff for short bills, especially in the face of the«$ 5 street taco» onslaught. Cool tortillas, triple deckered before a hearty layer of barbacoa, ground beef or marinated chicken(I sampled one of each), cheese, lettuce, guac, crema and hot sauce. Pickled jalapeños also come standard, so if you’re puny of palate, ask for them on the side. Pansy. I liked the meal just fine, if only suggesting steps be taken to keep the meat moist and more evenly seasoned. A few tables in the space next to the counter, should you need to sit and eat; otherwise, a decent lunch option for the midday rush.

El Triunfo is going downhill in quality just like Chipotle really fast. I ordered a beef taco to go for about $ 3. I opened the box to find out they messed up the order and gave what little morsel of chicken they had left. Two tiny pieces of chicken the size of a bean. To top it off the whole thing was half the size of Taco Bell’s taco and over twice as expensive. $ 3 for tasteless, flavorless, bland and half the size compared to taco bell for $ 1.20. Essentially i bought a small box of lettuce for $ 3. Never again.

I have been ordering from El Triunfo for the last 7 years. It is one of my favorite Mexican takeout places in Boston. I have had the burritos and tacos but I always get the chicken burrito plate. I love the jalapeños and guacamole. All decent size portions and not too expensive. The staff is friendly and do an excellent job. I just wish they had a location closer to me so I could get it more.

Unfortunately, Southie leaves much to be desired in terms of burritos. Luckily, El Triunfo isn’t too far so I can get my fix fairly quickly, and there is always at least one spot out front so I can run in quickly to grab my order.

Worst burrito I ever had in my life, flavorless. It was also cold. Will definitely go out of my to get to Anna’s.

When you have that late night craving for Mexican after having a few beers out, this is the place to go. It may not be the greatest Mexican in Boston, but it serves it purpose well. It really hits the spot before turning in for the night. Also works for a quick, cheap, and easy dinner. I love the chicken nachos loaded with everything. The burrito is pretty solid too. The dark haired guy who works the counter seemingly every night is a good guy, kind and reliable. I had only one negative incident here which I must mention. A big white guy I hadn’t seen before was working the register one night and he must have thought I was too drunk to think straight because he rounded up an extra $ 2 when he tried to charge me. Well, I called him out on it and the look in his eyes made it so obvious he got caught. I got my food, paying the correct price, and left feeling annoyed wondering how many other people he took advantage of that night. I haven’t run into him again, and I hope I never do. Other than that incident, good people and good food here.

The food was awful, dry, and cold. Service was bad too; they did not even give me my complete order but they still charged me for the entire meal. Word to the wise: eat somewhere else

This place is the best! It is consistently delish. I’m a big fan of the burrito bowls papusas. The service is quick and pleasant — you can be in and out in 5 minutes. The biggest bonus is their late night hours!

I’ve been coming here since starting college in the city and I have been looking for Latin foods to far I’ve had the shrimp tacos, quesadillas, ground beef burritos, and pupasas. Upon a friends recommendation I came here and I have not regretted it since. The food is prepared in front of you, and live. The wait time is never really too long depending on what you order. The customer service is on par with what you’d expect with an eatery like this one. The quality of food is good, sometimes it feels like certain ingredients sit for a while, but for the most part it is fresh tasting. Still waiting to try more of the menu!

Awesome food, easy priced and they delivered it at 1am. Recommend using the Eat24 app with delivery as it’s simple and easy as well

El Triunfo is really as good as it gets in South Boston, at least in my experience. It is pretty hard to get great and reliable delivery service around the UMass Boston area, let alone a great Mexican place. I absolutely love their steak burrito and their steak quesadilla is on point as well. Both were loaded with steak, pico de gallo, cheese, onions and the burrito had plenty of rice and beans. My only grief about the place is that the steak is an after thought compared to the rest of the ingredients, I want it to stand out more. I have to admit; I have made the error of ordering those horrible quesadilla from pizza places in Boston before and received filling in between flour tortillas and the cheese melted on top. ONTOP?! This is definitely not one of those places and you will appreciate the size of their quesadilla and everything else for that matter. The delivery was quick(actually arrived earlier than grubhub mentioned) and more importantly, the food was still hot. Glorious melted cheese on the nachos… Anyway, this is a must try if you are in the UMass Boston area and really want Mexican food.

I could waist my time slamming the many many over rated and down right bad burritos Boston has, but instead Ill give credit where credit is due. El Triumfo is awesome. I am not sure how to put it into words, but I recommend you give them a try. The loss of one star is the rude Russian guy that argues with you about order mistakes they often make with late night delivery orders. But this review is about the food and not him.

El Triunfo is simply a godsend. Ever since I started stopping here for my usual Taco combo dinner take out and sometimes the Pupusa combo or anything else for that matter — on mostly odd very late Saturday nights or post football Sunday evenings, my weekend evenings feel almost incomplete if I am in the area and I don’t get my usual grub from here. This place for me — it epitomizes everything that I seek when it comes to a simple — post night out food. I like this place because it: 1. is no frills 2. is open late 3. serves food for night owls who need something to munch on after a weekend night out. 4. is cheap 5. is run by hardworking and very down to earth people 6. has some of the best Mexican — El Salvadorian food that I have had, anywhere outside of East Boston neighborhood The guys working here have so got used to me dropping in when I usually do — these days they simply ask — «same thing? Taco Combo?» And the very happy me — all I have to say is — «Yes Please! Thanks a bunch!!» So everything I mentioned in my previous review about El Triunfo still holds good. I just had to come and update the rating and add another shiny star and make this place officially my all time favorite place for take out, when out and about in South End! Rain or Shine or Snow — there’s no place I’d rather go. I Love it! 5 stars all the way.

This time I tried the salad with falafel and I added steak. It was extremely delicious. Much better than the black bean salad I had last time.

This is an okay burrito joint. I bet its the best burrito in a mile-radius, but that’s not saying much. I tried the chicken/veggie and a steak burrito. Both were pretty flavorless, especially the rice and cheese. I guess I’ve been spoiled by Anna’s taqueria… Also, I don’t know whether its the area or the restaurant, but it kind of looks a little dirty.

simple concept, excellent execution. amazing pupusa for $ 2. crispy, fresh corn, cheese, melty. inhaled, devoured. homemade chicken tamales for $ 2 as well. will have to try them next time! amazing vegetable/bean burrito for $ 6 with fresh, gently cooked vegetables, beans, tasty tomato salsa(not spicy) and pickled vegetables. a loaded burrito, but not one that would sink like a heavy rock down to the bottom of the pond of my stomach and stay there for days until it slowly digests. no, this tasted like food. like homemade, in the best sense of the word. my old roommate was a regular here when he lived in the south end and they were consistently excellent then as well. on the vegetable burrito alone — it wins top honors in my book for a good no-frills burrito in boston. sad to say that most boston places don’t quite measure up – or the advent of burrito chains that like toying with an american twist to make people happy. that’s a different category entirely. i don’t know about food delivery — honestly, i haven’t ordered delivery in years, from anybody. i didn’t try their chicken or steak — perhaps i would agree that it were bland. next time, perhaps. it’s mostly a takeout joint with a couple seats. other than that, my old roommate says that the place is possibly owned by turkish folks who employ salvadoreans — hence, the baklava($ 1.50 each i think) and falafel quesadillas(!!!) and kofta burritos(!!!). the union square part of me is very happy about this. will be back!

Very cheap burritos that are above par. The falafel burrito is an interesting twist and my friends enjoyed the steak burrito and the bean quesadilla. Give it a try and if you don’t like it you’re down $ 6. My roomie recommends the baklava.

I’ve been to this place for lunch on a few occasions. What follows is the true story of my experiences. Day 1: ordered the most disappointing chicken burrito of my life. Bland. Bland, bland bland. Pico de gallo is very chunky, which I am not personally a huge fan of, but some people may like. Day 2: Decided to try again. Ordered falafel quesadilla. Sounds strange but tastes like you always wanted a falafel quesadilla to taste! Also very cheap. Their falafel is delicious. It’s firm and crunchy and appears to have red pepper flakes inside it so it has a little kick to it. Day 3: What are pupusas? I set out to find the answer. They are palm-sized corn pockets of tasty cheese. They’re also very cheap(less than $ 2 each) and come with good hot sauce. Also ordered bean salad which is quite hearty but had too much pico de gallo and guac for my taste. Beans had great flavor though. Overall, this place is pretty delicious, except for the burrito.
