I brought a gi here to be shortened. They did an awesome job, even though the stuff I brought in stood in rather stark contrast to the Financial District three-piece fancy pants they seem to specialize in. A little pricey, but it is the Financial District. Update: So, I brought another gi in. They charged the same«ouch, really?» amount, but I forked it out. When I went to get my gi, I picked up a gi that had a lot of «unfinished business.» There were holes in the fabric and half-finished seams – even though the tailor had said it was finished. I was pretty disappointed. I brought it back, pointed out all the unfinished corners, and asked them to fix it. They did take care of everything, and they seemed genuinely apologetic, but the damage was kind of done. The next time I needed something shortened, I brought it in and they quoted a price. When I winced, they dropped it to about double what the lady down the street from me would charge. I left my jacket with them, walked out of the shop, then realized I was leaving my jacket with folks whom I didn’t quite trust to do the job. And then I realized I was paying a lot of money for that job. I turned around, got my jacket, and brought it to the lady by my house instead.
