Awful sales people. They are not smart, have no clue about anything and are LAZY. There is one girl that is great and very nice… but the guys are useless.

Shop around elsewhere and save your money, unless you’re looking for GNC-brand sales pitches and misleading pricing. This store promoted a 40% off Halloween sale — but the discounts were taken off of «retail» price rather than their regular non-member price. Not sure where their retail pricing is coming from, but here’s an example: For a 5 lb container of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard: regular price $ 58.99 GNC retail price $ 99.99, non-member price $ 59.99, member price $ 57.99, «40% off» sale price $ 51.99 A 12% discount vs. the brand’s regular pricing is nice, but don’t advertise it as 40% off! Also, employees make up nutritional misinformation(I overheard one describing lecithin as an «essential fatty acid»), so be wary of their advice.

Why does your website say you open at 8:00 am? It’s 10:00 and the store is not open.

It’s tough to be objective, and favorable, to a GNC when we stopped in it to purchase an item we had previously purchased at another GNC a couple of towns away. We got a runaround from the employee(possibly the manager) regarding not carrying that item and offering instead not 1 but 3 different and higher-priced items which were guaranteed to be superior. Inconsistency? Discrepency? Who knows. The staff and inventory of the store were fine for what they had, but not for what we needed.

Great store. I go in every couple of weeks or so to get my Quest protein bars. There’s always a good variety and a special of buy 3, get 1 free. The employees recognize me by now and you can tell they know their regular customers and are very friendly.

I really hate this place with a passion. You should not have to pay for a membership to buy from a store, especially since the vitamin shoppe is just down the street. You also should not have to buy 3 to get one free to get a better deal. This place is why i hate salesmen. They have a script to read in order to get you to buy more things or spend more money. Here it is… Question #1 Do you have a membership? A #1 No. Question #2 Do you want a membership? A#2 No. Question #3 We have a special deal on «insert special deal here»? A#3 No Question #4 If you buy 3 of that item you can get the 4th free. A#4 No I feel very angry every time i leave this place. The only time i go here is when the Vitamin shoppe does not carry something GNC has. GNC prices always cost more too.

Walked in and the staff were having their own conversation, didn’t even great us or ask if we needed help. Really bad shopping experience. Would rather buy online.

I have to giggle at some of the reviews giving GNC a hard time for being more expensive than an online retailer… um, duh? Brick and Mortar vs E-Merchant… no contest. That being said, GNC is great for what you need it for: on demand supplements, protein, vitamins, and shakes. Now, the staff IS bonused on commission based on sales of GNC labels and contracted 3rd party items so always take«recommendations» with a grain of salt… that said, I did work at GNC in college and GNC does do a good deal of training for the staff… its just a matter of finding a staff member that elects to KNOW their stuff. That is where I have to dock this staff… most of them don’t know much about the supplements they are selling outside of the party line that the manufacturer is stating. On a whim, I asked about stacking a couple of products(which I already owned at home) and the guy totally was«faking it till you make it»; really a turn off and I lost a good deal of trust. Luckily for me I know my supplements and the science behind a lot of it. This location is a bit cramped… being in back bay store space is a premium. If you arrive at this GNC on a shipment day, there will be boxes everywhere making it a bit of a fish oil/protein minefield to navigate. While I typically order most of my supplements online, I do frequent this GNC after the gym to grab a shake or a protein bar mid-afternoon. It really is a decent store, with a large stock and breadth of products– it just helps to know what you want. Fine store IF you know what you need…

I have gotten many different types of things at GNC. It is pretty much your one stop shop for anything healthy that you can’t get in the supermarket. I usually stop here once in awhile to see if they have anything new, especially protein drinks.

Worst Customer Service Ever. The guy there was extremely UNHELPFUL and further more basically told me i had no idea what i was talking about when I went in looking for a specific product… which i have been using for about 5 years now. Forget this place. They will never get my business again.

*Extremely* helpful staff. The guy that was there the last time I went was super friendly without feeling ‘salesy’ and knew a LOT about every product I asked about. Just wish the prices were more reasonable…
