Kwik-Time Cleaners

I don’t understand why there’s so much hate (most of the reviews are pretty old, so things seemed to have definitely changed). I turned in my pea coat last Saturday for my pre-​season dry-​cleaning and to adjust the buttons. The staff was very friendly. They told me that it would be ready by Wednesday, but if I wanted it sooner they would try to get it done by Tuesday. I said, «no worries, I will pick it up on Saturday» (I don’t frequent that direction during their regular business hours and peacoat season isn’t here quite yet ;)).
I picked it up today and it looks brand new. I almost took a star since I tried to call them to let them know that I had lost my ticket, but nobody ever answered the couple of times I phoned them. I am not going to knit pick, they were probably very busy. I will be going back for my dry cleaning needs.

As someone who has worked many customer service oriented jobs, perhaps I am highly sensitive to patron’s needs…
My Kwik-​Time experience left in a complete amazement. Nothing absolutely horrible happened, but they could care less if you ever come back. The tailor wouldn’t give two shits if you were happy with her work. I had to actually walk past the counter to flag down someone to pick up my garment. They never said hello, they didn’t tell the total (she pointed), they didn’t say thank you… or have a nice day.
I needed a simple alteration on short notice — I will say, they took the straps up on a dress for a wedding in five days… but I paid a lot. A lot more than I paid my tailor over in Cambridge for a quick alteration. I have a bridesmaid dress that needs some more intricate work, and I won’t be going back.
The only thing they got going for them, is a damn good location.

Where to begin with my experience at the Kwik-​Time.
I was in a rush for some dry cleaning and a minor repair on my coat and a beloved scarf. So, I gave it a shot as its in the neighborhood.
I was told both my scarf and my coat (with a simple repair) would be done by that Friday.
Returned to pick up my things. Waiting, waiting, for about 15 minutes with no acknowledgment, they take my ticket and return with my scarf and nothing else. I explained I had a coat. After some scrambling, they found it… in a bin of dirty items.
They explain to me, they «forgot to clean my coat, because it got mixed up in here.» How reassuring. I take my scarf, for fear of that getting «mixed up», and will come back for the CLEAN coat tomorrow.
Overall poor job, overpriced, and the repair work didn’t hold up.

Here, here Simon. I feel a bit neglected when I enter. I sort of give it right back though. I usually have my headphones in and act disinterested. That seems to work. See, they are playing hard to get and see you coming so they shy away. Try my method, it works.
My roommate goes to the place closer to Babcock St. on one of the side streets. We compared prices, and the shirts at Kwik-​Time are cheaper (just for dry clean with starch — which by the way they waaaay over-​starch my shirts, I feel like the tin-​man at work unless I say «easy on the starch» to them). Pants seemed to be the same, though for $ 5 I’d rather do it myself.
I did go in there one time and the credit card machine wasn’t working and had to come back another time for my stuff. Other than that, it’s always ready when I get there, and I have fun trying to spot my clothes coming down the revolving rack before the worker can. I’m pretty awesome at it.
There’s a rumor going around that there’s a place in Kenmore that does $ 0.60 shirts, but I’m too lazy to investigate.

I was a Kwik-​Time regular for several years when I lived in Packard’s Corner. Their hours are convenient (7:00 to 6:30 during the week) and their dry cleaning is OK for the area. I always found the owners friendly and mostly accommodating when I needed a quick turnaround. I still take my shirts there once in awhile and they do a good job but I think that $ 2.10 each if you want them folded and boxed is a bit steep. Every shirt laundry charges more for boxes than hangers but not that much more.
Although I recommend the dry cleaning and laundry service, I strongly suggest taking any alterations to a real tailor. Personal experience leads me to doubt whether Kwik-Time’s seamstress even has opposable thumbs.

havent used them, but just asked today and their wash-​n-​fold price is $ 1.00 per pound. i still go to one-​stop cleamers for my w-​n-​f

I don’t realy have much choice in the matter, so this is my neighborhood cleaner. They’re not expensive, and they can do quick turnaround, when you ask for it, but I always feel as though I am inconveniencing the workers there when I come in – they don’t make eye contact with you, don’t come to the register, or even look up (even though there is a bell that rings when you walk through the doorway) until you start getting antsy and making noise. This has been my experience on multiple occasions.
