Behold, a mysterious $ 10 cover charge. Is it for the super friendly staff? The Djs they need to pay out? Puh-Leeze! It’s for the plastic cups they pour shots into, the Astro-turf lawn on the roof top, the Beats Pill they use to kinda of play music, and the awkward co-ed bathrooms! If you’re looking to straight up get it goin on a Friday night I’d suggest eating glass or sleeping with a sibling before coming here. This is the Big Bang Theory of bars. They should install a suicide net below their luxurious roof top lounge. You know… Just in case

I would give this place a zero if Unilocal would let me on the sole basis that bouncer is very rude and has a power trip on bossing people around and threatening people who are waiting in line in a very civil fashion. Nobody was push or yelling or fighting with them yet they insisted on being rude and cursing at us for no reason. They threatened to kick us out of the line even though we have all paid the cover charge. I do not recommend this bar at all because the bouncers are so rude. You feel like less of a human even though you could be just standing in line waiting on your phone just because the bouncers have a raise for a power trip. Instead of doing his job and addressing his anger to those who are causing the problem, he chooses to release his anger and rudeness to small girls who are doing exactly what he’s demanding us to do as much as the people around us are allowing. Instead of addressing the people causing the problem he will pick on easy target such as «you on the phone»(multiple times) versus the group of boys rough housing up front. While I understand it is stressful to be a bouncer at a club his rudeness is not justified by any means and the fact he belittled the people in line who where minding their own business and waiting patiently makes me question his professionalism and character if he only targets the girls short and smaller than him who pose no threat.

I went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and it was a pretty cool place! A fun atmosphere and good music which means lots of dancing! It had a little bit of an «uppity» vibe, and drinks were definitely not cheap, but overall it was pretty cool!

Came here for a private party and had a great time. Staff are accommodating and efficient. Great location — parking garage nearby and also close to subway stop. Will definitely be back in near future.

Sh*tty f*ckin bah kehd… management was terrible. Definitely won’t go back. I’m done with my review but Unilocal won’t let me post this because it’s too short. Hopefully this is long enough now.

NEVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN. Went there to support a friend’s fundraiser for cancer. 20 of us arrived in a party bus because it was the safest and most cost-effective way and we were rudely turned away before we even got off the bus. APPARENTLY there is a policy against accepting party buses — which makes no sense because they allow line privileges to parties of 20+ people… the only difference is they come separately. Everyone in the line was drunk, if not more drunk than our group so their logic has no ground. If this is a policy it should be written on their website and they should inform guests when they make a reservation for that many people. Now I get it, we were drinking beforehand and bouncers have to deal with drunk jerks all the time, but we were not being unruly or rude until they disrepected us. And they REALLY disrespected us. The most sickening part of this was that one of the bouncers made fun of the fundraiser. MADEFUNOF A CANCERFUNDRAISER — saying it was crappy of us to be drinking for cancer. Completely disgusting behavior for a mediocre bar. We spoke to the«manager» who looked like she was drunk herself and just came from a sorority rush week… she was obviously no help. She just shrugged and said there was nothing she could do for us and basically hid behind the doofus bouncers like a coward. I’m sure she’ll go far with her preschool level management ability… We were there to help a friend and instead were treated like animals. They can all go to hell.

Zero stars. I have NEVER been so disappointed in an establishment in my life. I came tonight to support a cancer fundraiser for a friend’s mother. I showed up with a large group on a party bus because it made more sense for travel than ordering 8 übers and was turned away at the door. Never have I ever experienced such dehumanizing behavior in my life. Apparently it’s there protocol to turn down party busses but we were all just here to support a good cause. Even after we tried to reason with them they acted nothing but rude and unprofessional. I want to specifically call out the manager with blonde curly hair and a large nose who tried to take my donation money while turning us away. All I have to say is if you have a heart you will avoid this place at all costs.

I have gone to Market many times before and have always had a good time, however this past Saturday I had an experience that will make me never return. About 5 minutes after paying $ 10 to walk into the bar(and giving the bar the business of our group of about 20 people), a bouncer bulldozed through the crowd with absolutely no regard for the humans in his way and knocked my friend and I onto the ground, my friend then got stepped on and her foot was gushing blood. I spoke with a female manager who was nice and apologetic about it, but did not offer to do anything about it. It was completely unacceptable, bouncers should keep bars safe not knock people to the ground in a crowded area. There was a female bartender on the 2nd floor who was very nice about it and gave my friend and I a free drink, so thank you to her. I will no longer feel safe in this establishment and will not return. I have never written a negative review about anything before, this situation was just too disgusting not to make it known. My intention for this is not to ward people off from going to Market, it is a fun time, but for the management to train their bouncers to have some regard and not plow through a crowd of harmless, calm people because of an urgency elsewhere.

Save your time and money by going somewhere that honors their party reservations. Was told that even though I didn’t have«sneakers» on to match their dress code I wouldn’t be allowed in because my shoes had a Nike swoosh on them. Apparently Market has a personal vendetta against Nike. Make proper dress code or at least create an environment that warrants a formal dress code. A rooftop bar with a few small speakers with confined building views doesn’t warrant their«exclusiveness.» Up the game or change your requirements.

This is a BAR review, not about the food, I will add another later when I actually eat here. As far as a place to go, this is a great place, because it has multiple floors, including a spacious roof deck, which is not common in Boston. There are plenty of rooms, and the crowd is a mix of 20 something year olds. Now here is where I start getting critical on two points. Firstly, the cover, I don’t particularly like places that have a mandatory cover every night, unless it is for hiring a band or a comedian, this place just has one to have one. The second are the drinks, nothing is wrong with them, filled with an ok mix of alcohol, and not horribly overpriced, but for how much you pay for a mixed drink($ 8 – 12) there is no style and flavor to them, and being served in a plastic disposable cup doesn’t really make it feel good. There is a way to serve alcohol, and then there is a way to serve a drink. Market seems to go for the former, instead of the latter. I recommend this place still as a decent night option, but it just doesn’t deserve more then 3 stars, especially with how good it could be.

It was a nice place and cool setting. Knocking a couple stars because the whole system with the roof deck wasn’t working well. If you had to go downstairs to the bathroom/smoke they made you wait in line again to get back up untill it wasn’t at capacity. That was pretty annoying. Not sure if I would go back but the place itself was really neat inside.

Basic bar food. Don’t be seduced by the courtyard. $ 2.00 per four ounce glass of soda. Go elsewhere.

Absolutely terrible! For 10 you are way better off going to west end or Ned’s. Went there last night and the night played out like this… Waited in line for 25 min to pay a $ 10 cover charge to only be told they were at capacity and we needed to go upstairs. Bathroom upstairs was coed one stall and was disgusting. Then snuck downstairs only to wait in like to get to the back bar where there is a dance floor… Not worth waiting in line to just wait in line again. The back bar is nothing special. Then at the end of the night, get this, another line. Nothing like waiting 40 minutes for your coat at the end of the night. Needless to say, I’m pretty sure I won’t be back.

Spent some time here on Friday night with a large group. We were all aware of the brutal reviews on this site. But, we truly did not see that. Yes, the«bouncers» collectively looked like a bunch of thugs but the waitresses and bartenders were nice and we had good service. We ordered some appetizers too and they were tasty bar food. No complaints.

Came here on an ice cold Saturday night at around 10p. I was surprised to see it completely empty on all 3 floors. We eventually migrated down to the ground floor in the back and it started to finally fill up around 11:30p. There’s definitely a lot of real estate here, but as the night went on, the bouncers closed off the other floors, thus making everyone cram into a single, closer sized restroom. Too bad. I was having fun pissing in peace without 10 people breathing down my neck. The bartenders I interacted with were absolutely miserable. I’m not sure why, considering it wasn’t slammed nor was it absolutely dead. Eleven dollars for a vodka red bull? Ouch. Good bartenders in Boston honestly hard to find. The coat check was pointless as most people their coats on the giant benches in the back of the bar. I’m curious to see what the roof deck would be like in the summer. Also, I’m pretty sure multiple girls were ripping some ripe farts this night.

I was suprised to find this place empty on a Tuesday. There tap beer selections was great and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The burger and mixed drinks were great. I did go here on a gilt city, but the prices were very reasonable.

Your typical lounge — filled with debauchery, sticky floors, expensive drinks, and creepers… When you walk in, it looks pretty empty… but when you go towards the back room, it’s packed! Haha. Such a weird layout of the place. Be prepared to meet creepers and see a girl puking in the ONESTALLBATHROOM. The worst. Also, very disappointed there was a $ 10 cover…

From the street level, $ 10 cover for a rooftop bar didn’t sound like such a bad deal. Images from Hollywood danced in our heads as we imagined overlooking the Boston skyline, drink in hand. Well, they’ll take your cover and then make you climb to the third floor to wait in line to get to the roof. The music is blasting on each of the three floors, so once again, you begun to imagine this crazy rooftop party while you tap your foot and wait for people to shuffle downstairs so you can go up. When you finally do arrive on the roof, you quickly realize you’re on the fifth floor and really only have a view of the two buildings you are sandwiched between. The breeze feels nice, but the music is soft, being played off a phone through a small speaker and not a true sound system. Drinks were reasonably priced and of reasonable strength, but overall the Market Lounge is not truly worth the cover charge.

I went to Market last night with my girlfriend and a few friends. The place was dead. Besides us there was a few bros having a fantasy football draft on the 2nd floor. With that being said, the atmosphere was bad. The service, when we finally found someone so good, nothing special though. For dinner, We had a beer and a pizza each. I had the buffalo chicken pizza and it wasn’t bad, I would actually recommend it. After having the entire place to ourselves, around 8:30pm the staff started removing table clothes, chairs and everything else, as if they were packing it in for the night, right in front of us. Another couple tried to walk in to seat themselves and were pushed away by the staff. Great job guys. I honestly don’t know how long this place is going to last, but if Market is going to survive, they need to step up their game big time.

The only redeeming quality of this place is the roof deck. It’s a hike to get up there and the stairwell always seems to stink to unbearable levels. Service was quick but overpriced. Skinny marg that is 80% ice is 10 bucks.

Ugh. The only highlight of Market was that the bouncers didn’t charge us cover. My friend and I stayed for about 10 minutes and left immediately. Couldn’t stand the frat-house vibe. There are four floors, but each floor was pretty dead.

I go here frequently to host after work socials on Wednesday night for my meetup group and for that purpose it is great. We pretty much have the place to ourselves and when we first started hosting them here the manager had a half off appetizer deal for us but since we kept coming back they rescinded the offer(not a great move for loyal customers). Other than a nice empty rooftop spot to utilize during the weekday and an awesome guy bartender(blanking on his name) it’s pretty average but a good physical space for groups. Food is decent drinks could use some work. With that being said, I wouldn’t step foot in here for the nightlife. I went once in the summer and in my opinion it was overpriced(I think it was $ 10⁄15 at the door) for not being able to go upstairs and be forced to stay on the 1st floor when they have have 4 including a rooftop to choose from. The bouncers were rude and didn’t make for a good experience all around at night. Go at your own discretion.

Market has a mixed crowd for sure. Downstairs plays mix of hiphop /house /top 40. I feel like market almost segregates itself with the different floors so it is probably best to analyze floor by floor. Floor 1 — A) Bar as soon as you walk in — If you are ready to pick up a slampig and need a quick escape then this is your spot. It acts as a staging area to meet friends or if you are just a blatant alcoholic and cant take the time to explore hit this bar. B) — Backroom /Dancefloor — Circular bar makes for great accessibility and I have never had to wait long for drinks. Can’t remember for the life of me what a drink actually costs here but I believe it is less than your typical nightclub for sure. One thing to note is that there is zero fucking ventilation here. I walked in and I could feel the sweat beginning to accumulate on my forehead and on my balls. But screw it, this guy gotta do some dancing. The talent pool was mediocre at best and I really wish there was AC or at least a goddamn fan so that I wasn’t sweating bullets when going up to chicks. Floors 2 and 3? — So I don’t remember if there are two or three floors before the roofdeck but seriously WTF are the point of these floors? The only people on them are those being denied from the roofdeck to overcapacity and trying to formulate their own bumblefucked line. People were clawing at each other to cut this patron made line for roofdeck access to the point where a kid tells some girl«ew you are gross, don’t cut me». Roofdeck — Like most boston roof decks Market offers a glorious view of, yep, you guessed it, a fuckin office building. I guess being outside is okay though if you want to wait in line for literally 30 minutes for a drink from the ONE, yes one, slow bartender they have up there. I leave the decision to you though. A lot of people like Market because of the group deals for bdays and what not. Call ahead about a party and make sure your friends arrive before 11 to beat the cover & guarantee entry.
