Marshalls

Not as nice as the one on Boylston Street in the Back Bay, but still full of affordable recognizable brand names.
This is just my perception but the employees seem to be generally in a bad mood or full of attitude. I wouldn’t recommend asking them for help unless you REALLY can’t find what you are looking for (which is hard to justify because the store itself is so small). I don’t personally care because I never ask for help myself.
The store is never too too busy so that’s a plus as opposed to the one on Boylston that is constantly swamped.
All in all small, not-​too-​busy Marshall’s with bitter employees and cheap merchandise.

Good prices for good brands, new products every few weeks! The only bad thing is you have to look for them!

This is one of the worst Marshalls in the area. It’s small, and doesn’t even have a home section. The quality of the items here aren’t great, with the exception of the shoe section. For everything else, go two stores over to the TJ Maxx right next door. They have literally everything this Marshalls has, plus a lot more

Lots of stuff here. They have some great prices and some that are just okay. The line to pay, despite being just 2 deep, still took a long time. You get what you expect here.

Way too expensive for the same I can just go to Marshall in Warren street and got the same things for a better price

Saw the same things here as we had at the TJMaxx on the other side of H&M. Weird. They’re so close, you’d think they’d carry different things.

Perhaps the best Marshall’s I’ve shopped… men’s shoe choices are definitely the widest offerings I’ve seen… Merrills, Sketchers and much more!!!

The manager here Liz, is awful! The associate from the register was calling her for about 5 minutes to sign a receipt and she was nowhere to find. The line got longer and longer and she left the store or what!!!
On the other hand, the store is nice but if she’s the leader the store may go down the hill soon. just saying
I give it a 3 stars because I always find something nice to buy from there. The store is not at fault because the manager is no good. So the store deserves 5 stars too bad I’m taking 2 stars away because of her

Crappy selection, crappy customer service, absolutely hated that it was in a basement. It was messy and difficult to get around. Not going back.

A pretty limited selection and kind of a mess inside the store– I stop in every time I am in Downtown Crossing and I have never bought a single thing. It is always pretty chaotic. At least the prices are pretty low!

Obviously, there are pro’s and con’s to shopping at this location.
–Pro: the clothes are so cheap! And colorful!
–Con: you maybe feel like you’re about to be smothered to death by polyester and you can’t call for help because you’re in a basement and there is no phone service.
You’ve got to have some basic Marshall law when you go in here. Know your limits (why would I buy anything priced over $ 25 here? Come on). Don’t buy food. Like, what is this food for sale at Marshalls? Why isn’t it for sale at a supermarket or gas station? Was Marshalls really the only place they could market their product?
The lingerie section is disappointing, but the other bargain booty shoppers probably just beat me to it.

In terms of selection, this was probably the nicest Marshalls I’ve ever been in! Then again, I have a theory/​reason why I shop in Mashalls and other discount stores while in other cities. Other cities get different stuff and fashion slightly differs between other places.
So, I went nuts here! I think I broke my own personal record of bringing 8 things into the dressing room. Because I was traveling light and had to lug whatever I’d buy back to Philly, I bought two shirts. I paid $ 30 for both. I knew that every time I’d look at them, I’d think «these are my Boston shirts». My friend, Ashley, was with me and I told her this. A few minutes later, she found her «Boston coat», which was a lighter weight jacket, just in time for the freaky global warming in-​between weather we’ve been having.
We did good here.

I will never return to this store — spend your money somewhere else! I visited this store to exchange an item I received for Christmas. I had the gift receipt and my item has a Marshalls tag on it (price cut off since it was a gift). Apparently the skew number on the Marshalls tag did not match what the item actually was (Ralph Lauren top). I was treated with zero respect by the manager, telling me it «wasn’t her problem» and they couldn’t accept the return. She told me to go back where it was purchased and turned her back on me to continue folding something. However, the shirt was purchased in Maryland. I would have to pay to ship the shirt to my mother in MD before the return date of January 8^th. This is extremely inappropriate. If the wrong Marshalls tag was attached at the original store, that is not the issue of the customer. Thanks for nothing!

I want to like this Marshall’s a lot more than I do, but it just reminds me too much of a dungeon. The store is not very well laid out and it feels really cramped. I have never found any great deals here probably because I feel so overwhelmed by the small space I don’t want to shop too long.
Very limited on accessories and the shoe selection is pretty weak. If I only have time for one, I’d rather go to TJ Maxx upstairs.

Interesting mix of characters wandering through this store.
I found the selection of women’s clothing and housewares pretty good. I didn’t check out the shoe selection as other Unilocalers mentioned. Spent a bunch of time in the men’s department. If you want cheap Boston sports or college attire, this is the place. T-​shirts are separate from polo shirts, separate from surfer shirts, in case the guys don’t want to browse.
Check out wasn’t especially friendly but it was efficient.

There is a superfluous amount of music at this location. Just why? I understand Marshall’s needs to cater to the juniors in «The Cube» section, but at the edge of the shoe section you hear these two clashing songs battle it out. I don’t even care who wins, just make it stop.
Marshall’s, despite the music, I will say your team of cashiers are curteous and efficient. I only waited in what appeared to be a mammoth line for less than 10 minutes.

In one word — Dingy. Definitely had better Marshall’s experience. The TJ Maxx upstairs and down the street has WAY better selection and is cleaner, brighter, and neater too.
Shoe selection? Ick. Selection is small and their shoes are ALL OVER the place! Clearly, this isn’t a well-​maintained store. Gourmet food selection is poor and clothes can be a mess. They do have a kids section at the back of the store good for toys.
Don’t try looking for any ski-​related stuff here. The workers here aren’t helpful at all! We tried asking if they had ski stuff and they pointed us to the wrong section. It would have been nice if they were honest and just said there’s nothing here, go to TJ Maxx.

Great shoe selection for reasonable prices.
I’ve been looking for comfortable shoes with some style for a while.
Standing on the platform waiting for trains can be a killer on the dogs. Although I would like to wear heels and look great sometimes it doesn’t pay.
I can respect those who wear their sneakers with their dresses, skirts, and slacks but that just isn’t me so I continue to look until something fits.
I love Aerosoles because they are comfortable but again they are not the best looking so if I can find a middle of the road then I will be sure to get them.
I found ankle black and mid calf black boots that are comfortable and have a bit of style for half the price I would have gotten them for from the mall.
It is worth stopping in every now and then to find a hidden treasure!
Yes it can be a bit chaotic with things all over but each day the store gets organized, restocked and put back together again.
They do not have a Home section so go for the clothes.
The lines were long but they have it down so I didn’t have to wait in line for very long at all — More time for lunch time shopping!

Downtown Crossing is definitely just a shell of what it once was. The only bright spots for me anymore are DSW, the Chinese Guy that sells flowers, Border’s, and MARSHALL’S.
Yesterday, I walked out of there with 3 pairs of petite pants (hard to find) and three tops for $ 89. Last week I got two name brand golf shirts for $ 16.
This is by far the best stocked Marshall’s that I have been to.

It’s a small location. A bit cramped. Usually I can pick out a few good pieces and find some gems.
I just hate that I can’t get cell reception in the store.
