I was visiting Boston for out of town. For me for Pakistani food there are literally just two options in Boston. I wasn’t too pleased with other one, so I tried this one. First, food seemed like it was warmed up from previous night in microwave. The gravy was warm. The meat was cold inside… What? Had to be microwaved. Worse of all hair in my food. Ewww. And they don’t accept credit card. Had to walk over to other store, pay $ 3 bucks extra for ATM fees to buy food from here. Disappointing experience.

Nothing like delicious, authentic Pakistani food to make you homesick! One of the few restaurants in the Boston area that makes Haleem. And the biryani was scrumptious. I hope to try their delivery service soon!

Let me begin by saying that I am of Indian origin and know the cuisine well, but don’t profess to be an expert in Pakistani food or what Pakistanis cook. This place is not an Indian restaurant in the strictest sense. It would be more a restaurant offering what I would call the usual and limited northern Indian suspects from the subcontinent. Context of the review: 1. Extended family members live close up and love the place 2. Visited the place with the family members mentioned above and we were the only table occupied for lunch on a Sat 3. Not everything was available from the menu 4. We only ordered vegetarian food Pros: 1. The proprietor was a very nice man who was doing all the serving and cooking and thus very busy but was very accommodating to our needs and checked into us at various intervals during the meal 2. The samosas and desert were good and the rest of the meal was ok 3. The mango lassi was a good sized serving and fantastic Cons: — Street parking only in what I can imagine will be hard depending on the night and time — The food was more greasy/oily than I expected — especially for vegetarian food — Overpriced for taste and location I would encourage anyone who has not tried it to definitely visit and try the food and make up their own mind.

Love. Fresh, authentic food served by a friendly owner. The chicken tikka masala is so tasty and the naan is heavenly. Have also tried the mixed tandoori grill and other beef dishes, and everything is so flavorful and overall wonderful. Located in East Boston, street parking is available, which has never been an issue in that particular area. The restaurant is cash only, FYI.

This is a wonderful restaurant. There is a quiet, peaceful atmosphere which reflects the personality of the proprietor, who a kind, peaceful person who radiates the quiet energy of a saint. The kitchen consistently produces sublime savory dishes and I have never had anything on the menu that was not up to the high craft of everything else! The chef has great sensitivity to seasoning, texture, and proportions of ingredients. The mango lhassi is a cut above the rest. Do yourself a favor and eat here at least once in your life. They do take out too. I just found out that the name Mehak means«sweet fragrance» and that’s all you need to know.

I absolutely adore this place and wish I visited Boston more just so I could get in more trips here! This is by far one of my favorite Pakistani restaurants(the food being beyond a doubt some of the highest quality and best prepared I’v ever had) and everything from the atmosphere to the man taking your order will make you feel like this is a very pleasant second home. Absolutely recommended.

I have eaten with Indian families extensively, enjoyed the best of Devon Avenue in Chicago, and also eaten at many good Indian restaurants in Texas and San Diego: basically I have a lot of experience eating Indian food. :) Mehak is my favorite find for Indian cuisine in Boston so far. The best thing I can say about it is that the feel, the hospitality, and the food are the closest I have found in a restaurant to eating at home with an Indian family that cooks well. I will definitely keep coming back to this place whenever I visit Boston.

This place is absolutely amazing!!! I’ve never been a huge fan of Indian/Pakistani food because I can’t handle spicy food, but they are so accommodating! The owner is also absurdly nice. I’m fairly new to east Boston, but this place is already my favorite!

I agree with Nikhil. All the food has great flavor without being overly greasy like most Indian/Pakistani restaurants around here. Not a place for a «night out», but a great spot to grab dinner or lunch. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been living in this neighborhood for a couple years and hadn’t tried this place. I’ve been missing out. For first visit stayed basic – chicken tikka masala and garlic naan – both were so good that I can’t wait to go back and try more things! Also, relatively cheap for Indian food, entrees about ten dollars each.

I can’t wait to return! I ordered the chicken biryani, a piece of naan, and chai. Everything came out piping hot and of a good portion. The rice was so delicious, and the naan cooked to perfection. The chai was not too memorable for me, but the cup made me smile reminding me of my grandmother. The service was beyond welcoming! I never felt rushed or forgotten about as the small restaurant began to fill with customers on a Sunday afternoon. I plan on taking family very soon.

I love this place. We live in the neighborhood and have been ordering take out for years. I have never once had a bad experience. The owner(whom I also believe is primarily responsible for cooking the food) has always, always been kind and courteous to us. I find their garlic naan, Achari Chicken and mixed vegetable dishes addicting. Yes they only take cash but that is NOT at all unusual for Boston, for example many of the North End small family owned restaurants only take cash as well. It not unusual for some of the small restaurants in the areas to only deliver if they have someone on staff that day whom is able to. Some small NE restaurants also keep odd hours, if they are family owned/operated/prepare only certain amounts of home cooked food for that day. To me these are not reasons for a poor rating when not out of the norm for the region. If you’re looking for quick fast food delivery call one one of the subpar Chinese restaurants in the area. I prefer to support a really great local restaurant.

Try chicken tikka masala and Lamb curry with Garlic Naan!!! I moved to East Boston last year and this was the first restaurant that I went to eat. I feel really happy that We have this restaurant in East Boston! Hope they have more menu for Appetizer but the food is so so good. And the guy who serves, very nice! Sadly they don’t deliver food, pick up ok. And they only accept CASH.

My roommate loves coming here! Service was not bad and food was really good. Tried plenty of items here and if you’re really hungry, you’re gonna have to fill up on naan since there isn’t a lot of meat but enough if you’re not a heavy eater. CASHONLY

I had my doubts when I walked in, but I absolutely loved the food. Especially the Paneer Tikka Masala and Mango lassi. The Paneer didn’t have any food color and paneer was fresh. The Garlic Naan and Daal were also absolute delight.

Raised in Pakistani family, Getting my tastebuds spoiled by delicious Pak/Indian Food available in CA and NJ, and having tried most Zabihah Halal Pak/Ind restaurants in Greater Boston area, I can vouch for the Sheer Awesomeness that is Mehak! We craved for Haleem once, called Mehak to inquire about its availability and within the next half hour we were savoring the most delicious Haleem and Naan bread we have ever had. Next week, we just went in to try some other dish and to see if we were impressed by luck, and this time again their Nihari and Kababs left us spell-bound. Next month, I didn’t have to gamble when taking my visiting sister-in-law from Canada for a family dinner, and they loved it too. Now, we have been to this place about 5 times, and no where in the entire East Coast or West, Canada or US, have we had such a soft, light, puffed, white, lightly-oiled Naan. The staff was so nice to talk to. The sitting area had such a personable feeling. The restrooms were clean each time. And the prices were not too expensive though they ONLYACCEPTCASH. This is authentic Pakistani/Indian family run business which won our love at first sight!

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Boston, and in my top 3 in life; still deciding which of the 3(maybe #1…I have to go again to be sure). Let me start off by saying that the service in Boston in general is terrible. I have been to probably 100+ restaurants since moving here, and I can only think of 3(maybe 4 if you count a coffee shop) that included friendly, prompt, polite service. This is #1 in the service category. It shines amongst a culture that consistently settles for mediocre. There is no mediocrity here. It rivals the Midwest in terms of friendliness. It is awesome. THEFOODISINCREDIBLE. I was initially impressed with the service, but when the food came out, I was in awe. It is amazing. My date was a bit tired of me raving throughout the meal, but hey. It was THAT good. The mango lassi was by far the best I’ve had. The mango was ripe and strong and it tempered the spice perfectly. This is also the best Garlic Naan anywhere. Hot and fresh. So tasty. Chicken tikka masala. Get it, people. It melts in your mouth. And, I asked for«above medium spice»…it actually was. No more ordering spicy food only to be presented with mild food that they thought would be too spicy for you. They believe you. There is a level of trust at this restaurant that is unmatched by spicy restaurants throughout New England. Praise to the Chef. Tandoor plate was amazing as well. Meat cooked perfectly, sausage pleasantly spicier than anticipated. My water glass was never empty. I think we waited about 6 minutes for our food. Maybe 6 minutes. It could have been more like 4 minutes. No one stood over my table waiting for us to finish. THE. RICE. Normally, I would not even discuss rice, but I’m telling you — if perfect rice exists, this is it. And they don’t skimp. There was plenty of lovely fluffy white grains to soak up the sauce from my tikka masala(not that I wouldn’t have been happy eating it like soup, because I would have. I guess I sort of did a little.) I’m generally low carb, and at this point turned off by most carby foods… but I would eat this rice all day, every day. I would start exercising for this rice. *Please note that it is cash only. If you forget, though,(or do not notice the word«CASH» on the bill), they are very good-natured and point you to the ATM right next door. I will go again and again. I would go right now, but they are not open for breakfast.

This might be the best Indain food in Boston, based soley on the Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, and side of rice I had. All for under $ 14. This easily could feed 2 people with the large portion of rice and naan. The service, provided by the owner, was friendly and attentive. Every dish is made to order so be patient, the Chicken Tikka isn’t sitting in a catering tray to be just thrown on your plate. If you’re used to bland mall Indian food then you are in for a treat, this dish had a healthy bite to it and was very flavorful. This is a hidden gem in East Boston, blink and you’ll miss it.
