Came here for a birthday of a favorite Moonshite 152 customer, and I understand why he loves it so much. Fantastic food, drinks and service. I had the sangria, which they change up and is wine strong. I will gladly get it again, and can’t wait to try the next one. I also had eggnog at the end of the night which was rum heavy – everyone coughed after trying it. Too strong for me, when I had a flight at 6am the next day(after 2 sangrias). I had the jalapeño crab rangoons, grilled calamari and double chocolate black pudding. Fantastic, perfection, and great. The calamari was the star, it was so silky and perfect.

The food is awesome. Get the chicken breast — it’s semi spicy and comes with white rice and Brussels sprouts.

Everything we had was amazing. Not only was each dish high-quality & unique with new flavor combinations but also every bite was transcendently delicious. We had the following and highly recommend ALL of it: Edamame Hummus & Pickle Plate Local Mixed Greens Salad Crispy Flounder Fillet Mushroom Tofu Burger Roasted Brussels Sprouts Apple Pie Ice Cream Sundae We went for an after-work weeknight dinner, and the ambiance was trendy yet comfortable. The service was excellent, and we had a great time. Thank you! We will definitely come back again.

Stopped in here for a tasty brunch cocktail, and was treated to the nicest bartender who clearly cares about her customers and made us want to live in the neighborhood so we could be a regular local. Come here if you want a solid cocktail and a smile or a chat.

Fabulous brunch place! Food is creative and delicious, the atmosphere is aesthetically trendy and modern — beautiful. The owner, Asiaq, and all of the staff make it welcoming and homey. The tater tot poutine, the Cinnamon French Toast Sticks are both amazing. The Eggs Benedict was mouth-watering and Bloody Mary perfect. We will keep coming back.

Stopped by for brunch a few weeks ago and was very impressed. I usually pick new brunch spots based on dishes I see on their menus and Moonshine’s Tater Tot Poutine reeled me in. The spot is down the street from Worden Hall and Stephi’s and feels kind of separated from the hustle and bustle despite being like 30 steps away. After walking in, I was surprised by how much space the restaurant had. It had a bar to the left, plenty of tables along the wall and more tables going throughout the middle of the space. We were promptly met by smiling faces and were seated right after. After scanning the menu we decided on the Cinnamon French Toast Sticks, Tater Tot Poutine, Ron Swanson Brunch Special, Mushroom Tofu Burger and a side of Corned Beef Hash because we clearly didn’t order enough already. The French Toast Sticks were perfectly crispy on the outside and super fluffy and light on the inside. These were coated in Cinnamon Sugar and had a raspberry compote sauce to dip them in. Easily the best french toast I’ve ever had. And then the Tater Tot Poutine… it’s tater tots, gravy, green onions, Chinese sausage, and chopped white cheese. How do you think it was? I’ll tell you, it was amazing. It was the first thing out so I polished it off before anything else came. The Ron Swanson Brunch Special of the day was Hannukah themed. It was beef brisket with a potato latke-like brick and some caramelized apples. This brisket was tender and moist and had a rich, red wine flavor. It worked perfectly with the potato brick and apples. Despite not liking mushroom and tofu I dabbled with the Mushroom Tofu Burger. It was really good. A lot of flavor and it gave me some insight as to how people could be vegetarians. I’ll stick with the meat though. Lastly, the side of Corned Beef Hash was easily the best corned beef hash I’ve ever had. It was unique in that it was more of a straight seasoned corn beef plate versus a mix of corned beef, onions and other add-ins. Very, very yummy. This was an awesome brunch experience and I’m excited to come back to both get brunch again and to try their lunch/dinner offerings.

I’ve been here many times. The staff are beyond attentive and the chef, Asia is the most visible chef in the business. The pride she takes in her craft is transparent. The bar loves to cater to the crowd and overall the place is all about their customers. I can’t wait to come for brunch!

Moonshine opened in February 2015 by Chef/owner Asia Mei. It’s in my neighborhood, so I know it well and it’s my go to place. The menu is varied and creative. The flounder and the burger are both excellent entrees. Also, if you like seafood, the calamari and octopus salad is a consistent go-to dish. Moonshine gets huge props from me for brunch. When you go to brunch, get the tater tot poutine. I mean seriously, get the tater tot poutine.(if for some reason you show up and what I’ve listed here is not on the menu, it’s because chef rotates the menu periodically). Food is served until 1:30am every night. Get the Korean BBQ tacos late night. Clientele is awesome because, well… I’m part of the clientele. But seriously, there are lots of good foodies, neighborhood regulars, and often a lot of bartenders, servers, and chefs from other parts of the city who hang out here, which should say a lot about the place on its own. Pro tip: go on Thursday nights and say hi to Peter behind the bar and order a Manhattan. Also, for those of you who might need it, this is a good vibe for a first date, either sitting at the bar or getting a booth. For those of you who want to meet the chef when you hit a restaurant, Chef Asia is always willing to chat with customers if she has the time.

Moonshine 152 is an «okay» cocktail place that thinks it is extraordinary, and rides the great vibe and décor of the place in an attempt to appear better than it is. No question: The location and feel are great, but the drinks themselves, when removed from their surroundings, aren’t anything special… but they’re priced like they are. Still getting a feel for cocktail bars in the neighborhood, so maybe this is one of the better cocktail options, but I don’t think you are getting what you pay for. That being said, you won’t get anything bad, either.

Fabulous brunch spot, I’m so happy we decided to drop by. We got in around 12:25pm on a Sunday and were seated promptly. Décor is cute and the sun shining down at our table kept us nice and toasty. They have a Ron Swanson special, which is so amazing, but we didn’t end up ordering it as other items on the menu caught our eyes. I ordered the gypsy eggs and my boyfriend the crab eggs benedict, with a ½ order of tater tot poutine. We got complimentary donuts with our meal which pretty much warrants a 5 star rating from the get-go. The donuts were nicely glazed and very fluffy. Our actual meals came out before we even finished the donuts, which impressed me. I hate, hate, hate, waiting for food and Moonshine was extremely quick. My gypsy eggs were really good. The prosciutto that came with was literally the crispiest prosciutto I’ve ever had. And the polenta was amazing. I’ve never liked polenta before but they cooked it very well here. It was so flavorful! My boyfriend enjoyed his crab eggs benedict, though did say the sauce was a bit heavy. The ½ order of poutine was also enough to be a meal itself – the portion is huge! The tots stayed super crispy and the gravy was really well flavored. I liked the Asian twist with the Chinese sausage and the cheese was really good, though not melted like I prefer it on poutine. With tip, our bill came out to be $ 50 total. I think it’s totally worth it, though could be a bit steep for some people. I definitely will be coming back here, but probably when I’m more hungry! I was stuffed today and still had my polenta and some tots left over.

4.5 — great vibe and great food. Got there at 11AM on Sat with reservations for brunch, but it seemed like you don’t need them until after 12:30. Crab benedict — Delish but a little heavy on the sauces. The fluffy english muffin really stole the show. Tater tot poutine — DROOL I could not stop eating this. Great flavors dress up the old tator tots and they stay cripsy throughout the meal. Corned beef hash — Eh, it was good but definitely the least memorable of the bunch. Jalapeño(infused?) bacon — Amazing as well, the flavor was really soaked into the bacon and who doesn’t like bacon.

I went here with my friend. Everything we had was great! We only had apps but they were wonderful. We had Korean bbq tacos, jalapeño crab Rangoon and duck confit risotto. We definitely will be back.

Love the menu’s Asian influence, laid back vibe, friendly staff, and great drinks. The jalapeño crab Rangoon is honestly the best crab Rangoon I’ve ever had. They’re crispy and light and so flavorful — a must try while you’re there. We ordered the Mama Mei’s Pork Noodle Soup to share. This soup will warm you up AND fill you up. Everything tasted so fresh and cooked to tender perfection. I’m assuming this was a family recipe, which is pretty cool. The head chef, Asia, came out and personally introduced herself. I can tell she puts her heart into that kitchen and loves what she does. Our server was really helpful and offered tons of suggestions.

My friends and I were wooed away from our usual apres-Judo brunch stomping grounds by a clapboard advertising the burger of the month(maitake mushrooms, smoked gouda, truffle oil). And what a wooing it was! There was the tater tot poutine, and the herbal bergamot iced tea with almond milk, and then the butterscotch pudding with Chantilly cream with toasted amaranth and coconut. I don’t usually like butterscotch. Or amaranth. But united in this holy deliciousness, it was love at first bite. Everyone was very friendly. Saying the food is incredible for the price doesn’t do it justice: The food is incredible, period. That it can be had at the price they set is doubly awesome. I think we’ve found our new brunch stomping grounds.

This is definitely one the best restaurants my wife and I have been to. From appetizer, entrée, to dessert all aspects of the food were amazing. We’ve been to all the top restaurants in Boston ranging from $$ to $$$$. It has been over 2 years since we found a restaurant that left us amazed. The last one was probably Oleana or Salts. What did we order? Appetizers: — Korean BBQ Tacos — really good — Grilled Calamari — amazing, seriously, nothing to help make this dish better, the best dish of the night Entrees: — Burger with Bacon Jam and Blue Cheese — it’s been a LONG time since i’ve had a great burger outside of Shake Shack. This burger hit the spot and their shoe string fries were crazy addictive — Hanger Steak Nachos — very inventive dish and was delicious as well. If you love meat and nachos you can’t go wrong. Desert: — We usually skip dessert but we got their BREADPUDDING and it was amazing. We’ve been to New Orleans and didn’t think anything could come close but their bread pudding has wonderful texture. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I did wish they had ice cream instead of homemade whipped cream but it still was wonderful. This is in our top 3 places in Boston to go and the best part is that it’s closer to Quincy. We’ll be coming back soon. Great job team at Moonshine 152.

Moonshine 152 is but a short walk away from the Broadway T station on the Red Line. They offer a brunch menu on both Saturdays and Sundays from 11am — 3pm. Although they have a patio, we opted instead for a booth inside. I liked the cool planter tubes that decorated the wall by our table. The two of us ended up sharing the heavy sounding Tater Tot Poutine $ 12 red-eye gravy, green onions, Chinese sausage, chopped white cheese and taming it with the healthier Heirloom Quinoa and Tea Salad $ 14 pickled green tea leaves, pink grapefruit, Marcona almonds, cucumbers, feta off the Starters menu. The tater tots remained surprisingly crispy throughout the meal, and we were pleasantly surprised by the way our selections complemented one another. 3.5 stars

I came here with a friend for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually brunch until 3 o’clock, and the menu included some good brunch options. We started with a few oysters, which were perfectly fresh and came with both standard cocktail sauce and some kind of a sweet chili sauce. Then we each ordered the corned beef hash, which was served with poached eggs and toasted brown bread. The hash came out later enough after so it didn’t matter that it didn’t really match with the oysters to start, and it was a great choice with big chunks of corned beef and green onion on top that added lots of flavor. My friend got a beer to start and stuck to it, while I got a special iced tea of the day and then switched to beer. The tap list was small, but the selections were decent. The same could be said for the entire menu overall.

My perception is that Moonshine is taking itself a little too seriously. The cocktails have one too many ingredients and come off as confusing. The menu binder seems ill-suited to the concept of the restaurant. I made a reservation via Open Table so we were seated right on arrival. We ordered a couple beers to start and I was very confused because they had Celis White Ale on tap, but the brewery that makes Celis(Michigan Brewing), is out of business(last I heard, anyway). I asked the waiter if they had an old keg of Celis or if the brewery was back in biz. He offered to find out, but I never got confirmation either way. I’m not entirely certain what I drank, but it tasted fine at any rate. We started with the edamame hummus. It doesn’t come with bread, but the waiter did offer us some. The hummus is covered with carrots and I wished there were more hummus and less of the veggies(or at least the serve the veggies on the side). The hummus itself was really good. We split the burger of the day(which was just a basic burger with cheese and fried onions on top) and the Nigella Flatbread. The burger was cooked to medium rare perfection. There was no fault to be found in the burger, but it also wasn’t anything to write home about. The taste profile was fairly standard and the fries were good. Not complaining! The Nigella Flatbread was excellent in concept, but not in execution. You can’t pick up a piece and eat it. The toppings just fall right off the soggy crust. The veggies and cheese would have been tasty over some sort of grain. We could have done without the flatbread itself. Lastly, we ordered the green tea ice cream with brownie bites and almonds. This was a delicious, light and refreshing dessert. They actually read the special request on my Open Table res and brought the dessert with a lit candle to celebrate my friends birthday — huge points for the recognition and eye for detail! All in all, I think the service was nice and the food was ok.

I always felt that Franklin Southie was the ugly step-child of The Franklin Group empire(OG Franklin, Citizen, and Tasty Burger) — and though I love listening to NIN as I dine as much as the next girl, which was often the case there, I was not sad when it shuttered its doors to make way for M152, which proves to be a strong addition to the bougie Southie scene — and judging by how slammed it was when we rolled in at 130p on a Sunday, apparently everyone else w hip glasses, medium-okay blonde dye jobs, and skinnies agrees. Oh, there were some families there too. Actually just one familia, but the toddler was effing adorable and I maybe tried to take him home, which is why they stand out — regardless, that’s a long way of saying that M152 is settling in quite nicely. Taking a quick gander at the menu, I was immediately struck by its slightly non-trad take on this midday meal — oysters, lobster & grits, tater tot poutine w/Chinese sausage, CB hash, quinoa & pickled tea leaf salad, and to round it out, both beef and tofu burgers. Oh, and a rotating«Ron Swanson Brunch Special», which will be recalled to you with the appropriate scene from P&R, which is pretty awesome. Wanting to be adventurous, we tried the poutine, kale/bacon/goat cheese omelette, CB hash, RS special(2 bacon wrapped shrimpies w two eggs/curried potatoes/toast), and smoked salmon bagel — all of which ranged from $ 12(poutine) to $ 17(hash) — with the price to portion ratio being spot on for the poutine and omelette, but a bit weak for the RS special — I think $ 16 should warrant more than two shrimp, but perhaps I’m old fashioned — and like, it wasn’t even shrimp with provenance, you know? No cute farmer was involved, I have no idea how loved these little non-kosher delights were — clearly basics one should know abt all food I consume. Actually I abhor all this name dropping of producers nonsense, but my mind wanders as M152 doesn’t do this — what it does do is brunch well. That said, if you’re going w someone who’s going to fuss that there are no pancakes on the menu and recoil at the idea of enchiladas before 5p, I’d venture elsewhere. All items tried got high marks, some plates were even licked clean — and while the hot-smoked salmon was on point, the bagel was not Jew-approved and the scallion schmear could have been more assertive, though clearly I ate every bite. Entrees range from $ 8(simple salad) to $ 22(lobster grits) — service is a little slow but incredibly friendly — overall, welcome to the hood, M152. I will return for din(which skews a bit more Asian) as your tamago w shishito peppers beckons to me w seductive talons.
