The first time I went to Oakleaf, I walked out without buying anything. Why? Because none of the employees acknowledged me, not even to say, «be right with you.» Usually that sort of treatment is a deal breaker for me, but I gave them another chance a few months later. I’m glad I did. Oakleaf makes my favorite espresso drink, ever. I’m obsessed with the Charles River. I’ve tried to order similar drinks from other cafes, but they didn’t get close to Oakleafs. When I indulge and buy a baked good, I’m equally as pleased! The only think holding Oakleaf back from 5 stars is their lack of consistency with customer service. A greeting and a smile every time is all it takes!

ok I may not be a cupcake fan, but I recently tried their banana chocolate chip cake and can I just say YUMMMMMMM. I’ve bought it twice in the past week, and thankfully my husband doesn’t like banana, so I don’t have to share! It’s very moist and tasty.

Best cherry almond shortbread cookies ever!!! I’m a chocoholic, and rarely get anything that doesn’t have my favorite ingredient, but this cookie blew me away! Unfortunately they only make this amazing cookie once in a great while, so I am forced to order them a dozen at a time, but, as long as I exercise self-control, I can deal with that ;-).

This is the best bakery ever ! We order a elaborate cake for my nephew’s MIT graduation and I send them several photos and they manage to creat a cake that is not only delicious, but so detail and it look like my nephew ! Even the pastry chef at the top of the hub was impressed !!! I will definitely use them again for all my cakes ! By the way they were reasonably price also

Cute little café with excellent service. Unfortunately, they do not have decaf espresso. Their regular decaf coffee was not very good, but the banana bread was great. I will come back in the am and try their regular espresso drinks. Very cute atmosphere with lots of interesting cakes in the window and a number of tables to sit down and enjoy your coffee and nibbles.

Their Italian cream sodas are great! Sometimes the sales clerk has been rude and brusk. Not the treatment you expect from such a cute place. Thus only 3 stars.

Ordered a Star Wars theme cake for my boyfriends birthday and it was a hit ! Everyone loved the cake especially the birthday boy and not only did it look Awesome but it also tasted great! The staff was also great from the moment I called and ordered the cake to when I went to go pick it up, very very helpful and nice. I will definitely order more cakes from them in the future.

Place is small but amazing. Got to try the vanilla bean cake with chocolate buttercream frosting before I even said hello. So many choices of goodies. Had the Oreo trifle which was decadent. The spiced apple cider was perfect and the hot chocolate was deliciously pleasing to the palette. The pop tarts are amazing and even better when warmed up. They have vegan and regular bakery items. A must for anyone bositing the area.

This review is for the girl who works there with short pixie black hair, on three separate occasions. She messed up our order, not once, twice, but three times, WHILST being incredibly rude, VERY frazzled and curt. «What do you mean, exactly, because that’s not right, it’s actually this…» something like that, over a simple drink order with two cupcakes, berating a friend of mine for something we didn’t even understand. Why so upset? When the order came out, we didn’t even know — there was no announcement. When asked about the price of a cake, because I wasn’t sure if the price referred only to a particular kind of cake. She then spat out: «The price is written in front of the cake.» Could have just told me how much it is, instead of the attitude. I’ve worked in the service industry and I don’t really understand why this person was hired for this particular job. The stars are for their cupcakes, because they are tasty. The cake I got was beautiful, tasted only okay — because the frosting lacked flavor.

A great place to catch up with friends or to study. The interior is kept clean, cute, and cozy. I’ve tried most of their pastries and can say they have the best handmade pop tarts — my personal favorite being the raspberry! However I wouldn’t recommend the cupcakes which I personally felt were too dry and extremely sweet.

My birthday cake was delicious!!! The frosting was so yummy and the cake itself was very moist! Very pleased with the results. The staff were helpful in choosing the cake and the cake was made timely for my pickup since I ordered in advance

Although this place can function as a quaint, snowprincess type of laptop café, the desserts can be nauseatingly sweet, with the kind of frosting that requires a glass or two of water. With that said, for the ultimate sweet tooth or foodstagrammer, the place is ideal though not incredibly unique.

I live down the street in one of the dorms. I moved to Boston this fall for college, and this week had been feeling a bit homesick. I thought a cupcake might cheer me up, so I walked down to Oakleaf. I decided to try both vanilla cupcakes: the vegan vanilla with raspberry icing and the vanilla birthday cupcake. BOTHWEREPHENOMENAL. I’m someone who usually wipes all of the icing off of a cupcake(I prefer whipped cream), but the raspberry vegan icing was so flavorful that I ended up devouring the whole thing. I went right on to the bday cupcake which had what tasted like a whipped cream/icing hybrid on top. Both were very moist and not overly sweet. And… I feel a little less homesick. Great place for treats!

Oakleaf has solid coffee that they brew per cup. I go for the Ethiopian light roast. A solid and frills free brew. Oakleaf is a bakery that specializes in custom cakes and there are examples of their fondant artistry throughout the store. As such it was ironic that the pastries were so underwhelming. I figured this would be their wheelhouse but they were forgettable. The Nutella cupcake has winning frosting. It captures that chocolate Nutella flavor without being too sweet. The problem was with the cake, which was dense and bready. Overall, an acceptable cupcake but not one I would order again, and definitely not in the league of Georgetown. Conceptually, I liked the idea of their banana bread, they took a classic treat and added chocolate chunks for taste and texture. The execution was disappointing, the banana bread was dry and crumbly. As such, the texture was completely off and the flavors didn’t come together. Oakleaf has a good amount of seating and it doesn’t get too busy so you shouldn’t have problems finding a table.

This bakery sells awesome cakes, cupcakes, cookies, scones, and homemade poptarts! The ambience is very cute and feminine. I do not recommend their vegan sweets(which is the only reason I knocked a star off). But definitely try everything non-vegan in this bakery, you will NOT be sorry! For a city-dweller who doesn’t drive, this is the best T-accessible bakery in Boston! You can just tell every treat is made with attention to detail and love. :)

Again great results! So happy with the look and taste of the cakes. A total success. The look on my kids faces was priceless when they saw the cakes. Happy memories!!! Thank you Oakleaf!

Very cute place, love the guitar. Interesting and different fare. Best hot chocolate in the city, with the great huge marshmallow. The brownie trifle is fantastic, as is the molasses cookie. Blueberry cheesecake wasn’t so great, but not terrible. I like this place a lot and definitely excels in the role it seeks. Worth a visit.

SALTEDCARAMELHOMEMADEPOPTARTS. Need I say more? This little coffee shop/bakery is worth a stop just to see the amazing cakes they create — but their coffee and pastries don’t disappoint! Iced coffee was delicious and after we spent quite a while looking at all the delicious baked goods in the display case, we chose the chocolate chip banana bread and salted caramel popover. Both disappeared very quickly and left us pondering returning for more. The banana bread was sweet but not overpowering and not dry at all. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Boston — this cute little shop was a perfect place to start my weekend!

We first came across Oakleaf Cakes when we were living in the area and strolled by one day on our way over to Fenway. We stopped in for some lemonade and a treat, and both were delicious! So, when we started wedding planning, I thought this may be a good place to consider for our cake. One of my husband’s favorite parts of wedding planning was the tastings, and Oakleaf did not disappoint. They prepared 6 cupcakes for us with different cake and frosting flavors. And we got to try the fondant as well, which was a yummy marshmallow flavor. All of the flavors were delicious, but we settled on a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream frosting. Since we wanted a yellow cake, we also had a layer of lemon buttercream frosting as the outer layer. I had found a picture of a beautiful tiered buttercream ruffle cake online that I presented for inspiration. We were quoted a reasonable price that was within budget. Also, Oakleaf had vegan options, so we ordered 6 cupcakes as well for our vegetarian guests. We weren’t looking to spend a lot on the cake but we wanted something tasty, and Oakleaf did not disappoint. The cake was beautiful and so yummy. We got so many compliments from our guests. We even enjoyed our top tier on our one month anniversary! Thank you Oakleaf!

Excellent customer service, the girl at the front was friendly and talkative. Chose the Oreo Cupcake, and liked the piece of Oreo cookie as a garnish. Cupcake was good, but not outstanding or the best cupcake I’ve had.

Solid coffee and sweet treat are great morning fare, but I wouldn’t make a special trip here if I didn’t live so close. This place makes solid cookies and interesting treats like homemade marshmallows. The cupcakes are drier than I like and the whoopie pies too mundane. Sure, this place does the job if you’re looking for a small gift for someone or if you need a quick espresso, but I don’t feel like it’s a special bakery such as those in the north end or even in Chinatown. I wish the place had a little more whimsy and personality. Sure the decorated cakes in the front look great, but I wish they could have made the rest of the bakery more fanciful and special. Anyway, it is nice to have a neighborhood bakery.

The decorated cakes are an outstanding form of art and also delicious. They are pricey but worth it. Make sure you put in an order in advance, they take time to make. The items in the counter are also tasty but a little disappointing only because their decorated cakes are so over the top amazing. I also had an iced mocha here and thought it was good. I also had ordered cake making classes for family members and they enjoyed it.
