Came because website advertised a vegetarian ramen option. Was disappointed that it was discontinued and service was super slow on a Sunday late lunch(2pm) where there was really one other table eating. Many tables remained uncleared while we were waiting though server was nice and courteous. Only one person working. And got the vegetarian tempura don(they made a modification for me). No tempura sauce or typical don sauce in the don. Tempuras was softened by the steam from overcooked rice… It was a $ 14++ meal, not worthwhile, truly. Friend got a so so ramen that she found to be lukewarm and not flavorful enough. She was disappointed. Even the slightly nice décor of the place didn’t make up for the disappointment. Oh why oh why, veg folks beware and searcher of good ramen can go somewhere else…

Went here for the second time with a gilt city voucher. They were out of half of the appetizers on the menu. There is no liquor, only wine and beer, and they were out of several beers. It is inside the mall, and there’s not much signage, just kind of an awkward atmosphere. We had the edamame and two rolls. Everything we ordered was pretty good and our waitress was nice, although a little slow for there being no one else there, but the overall experience only gets two stars out of me.

A very average experience. They had a limited menu, but what they did have seemed to be good. We got the rainbow roll and the soft crab roll. I liked them, but as this was quite a trek for me from home, I probably wouldn’t go there again. It wasn’t THAT outstanding that I would take the T for an hour to ready there. I probably wouldn’t go if it was even 15 minutes away. I see it add more of an «if you’re already there» kind of place that mainly attracts the people who are staying at the hotel next to it. Also, the service was really super slow. As an example, it took maybe 15 – 20 minutes for us to get the check after requesting it. It took maybe another 15 minutes to find the waiter to request the check. Overall, it’s an okay place… a bit overpriced, but that’s probably because of where they are in Copley and the out of towners who stay around there are maybe not as cost aware.

Do you ever have that feeling of impending doom when entering a restaurant? That feeling like«oh noes, this place is going to close soon.» That’s the feeling I got. We came here like 4 years ago and got the most amazing scorpion bowl chocked full of yummy leechies. The sushi was spectacular! Fast forward four years to our most recent visit. The server bearly spoke English and they were all out of alcohol! They did have enough to make us a scorpion bowl that was half the size as it used to be(same $ 25 price tag). The sushi was still good but my husband was unhappy that he picked this place to come to for his big BD and it was not nearly as Awesome as we remembered it. Will never be returning, whoever hear of a Japanese restaurant out of saki?

Oh my dear heavens. Osushi holds a special place in my heart, and I really wished I came here more often when I still lived in Boston. My boyfriend at the time worked right next door, so I slowly got to get the know the staff. They’re all super friendly and made every dining experience memorable. I absolutely recommend the Popcorn shrimp(tempura shrimp served with yummy spicy mayo on the side) and the Spider roll. The prices are higher than most sushi places in town, but it was worth it for me every time :)

So long before I was enlightened with Unilocal,I took a couple of out-of-town friends to this sushi spot for a few rolls(been so long that I forgot). The rolls seemed decent but remembered them being a bit pricey. I read the health inspection reports for this restaurant a few years back and was rather scared off(they’re on the City of Boston website). Years later, I came across Osushi again while I was on business downtown, and decided to swing by to see how it is. I went for ramen though, feeling need for it that moment. So I went for the Tonkotsu Miso ramen. Definitely not worth $ 14, I’ve had ramen for ½ the price in places like in LA that were 10 times better. This offering had very little pork, which was tasteless anyway, and the broth was cold. The noodles were decent, but you didn’t really get much of a portion for the $ paid. The egg was nicely boiled though: a little runny on the inside. This spot is for hotel guests that are too scared to get out of their hotel and need something beyond a club sandwich.

I wish I could use a grumpy cat image for this review. Everyone in this restaurant looked as if they were in a blackbox theatre version of No Exit. They all looked miserable – the couple next to us was breaking up, the girl across from us was in tears, a pair of tall men across the room ate in somber-faced silence. Our server didn’t smile at us once the whole evening; she seemed eager to get us(and herself) the hell out of there. The manager stared intently out the door at the mall hallway. The only people with any cheer were two employees who were throwing plastic cups at each other for the first 10 minutes of our visit. None of the management staff seemed to notice. As for the food, I give you a poem: High price Little rice Small fish slice Didn’t entice Won’t go twice They did have a nice sake selection, but it was overpriced and served at room temperature. Awkward.

2.5 stars! Sushi was nothing special & especially not worth the prices they charge! If you’re lookin for fresh sushi I’d suggest going elsewhere! —edamame appetizer: slightly salted —tuna tartare: not exactly the freshest tuna & pretty small! —hamachi carpaccio: not bad actually but the fish was douseed in sauce and cheese shavings —seared salmon roll: was expecting more flavor out of this one —tiger’s eye roll: my favorite of the dishes we had that night NOTE It’s located in the Westin hotel above Fogo de chao

No thanks … my lunch sushi cost $ 20 something and came with a nice variety of fish, but the sushi was sliced über thin and sat on an almost imperceptible bit of rice … didn’t taste fresh either. I enjoyed the soup part of the meal, but that’s about it. Please don’t waste your time or money here. Bwaa…

i came here on friday for dinner, and thought the food was spectacular and the service was great. i would have given it 5 stars, but it’s very pricey so i decided to rate it with 4 star to incorporate value. we began with the edamame, which i think is always a great start to a sushi dinner… especially when i am starving! i really liked that the beans remained on the crisp side and it wasn’t overly salted. our waitress was really helpful with the appetizers since we were on the fence between the ponzu oysters and the sake steamed mussels, and she gave us very accurate descriptions. we went with her recommendation of mussles, which had an amazing broth flavored with sake, scallions, and butter. we also got the tuna tartare — incredible and definitely a highlight. the fish was extremely fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with wasabi herbs and little pieces of ginger. to follow, we ordered the tiger’s eye and rainbow roll. the tiger’s eye was my favorite — it was topped with scallop and a tiny slice of jalapeño pepper. the rainbow roll was also delicious, as it was a shrimp tempura with various slices of fish and daikon layers across the top. both rolls were generously sized, and were served with wasabi tobiko in addition to the usual wasabi and ginger overall, osushi offers excellent food and great service. the high prices are reflective of the location, but for some of the dishes, it can definitely be worth it.

How have I never written a review for Osushi? Every time I am in Copley, I stop in. Every time I just want to «go to the city» with no plan I like to start the evening here. Every time people ask me where to get good sushi in town I include Osushi in the list of three. Every time I want«something different to drink» but I’m not sure what, I can find it among the selection of cold sake. Every time I am here I wonder why I don’t come more often. So why no review until now? Here is the best explanation I have — I take Osushi for granted, like a booty call 5 min before closing because all the good ugly is gone. Which means, Osushi is no FuGaKyu. Osushi is no Oiishi. It is what it is. It is not over the top, not the most expensive, not the place you plan for a birthday, not a place you write home about — it is simply and truly a great little sushi bar with some of the freshest fish in the city. I’d give it 5 starts but, like that booty call, the sex is great(and I mean great) but … But it just doesn’t matter because I keep coming back again and again and again.

Went to Osushi for the first time for dinner tonight with a Groupon. Based on reviews here, I did not have high expectations, but my friend and I really enjoyed it! Service: Our waitress Yun was really nice, accomodating and attentive — made a big difference in our dining experience. Atmosphere: Not nearly as big as I thought — small and intimate Appetizers: We tried 4 appetizers — katsu was good but not anything special, tuna tartare was pretty good, hamachi cappacio has good flavors but a bit too salty. Our favorite appetizer was the miso eggplant… really flavorful and meaty — highly recommended. Maki: Lobster tempura was really good– big tender pieces of lobster perfectly cooked. Tiger eye was good with a bit of a kick, rainbow roll was good but standard. TNT was way too salty for us… Overall, good high quality food although not anything special or unique. I’d go back for casual dinner/drinks again!

Here is another place I wouldn’t have known about without our gift certificate. Instead of buying one for the usual places, I decided to try one outside of the comfort zone. It was interesting to find, as it was in Copley. Didn’t realize this from before, so arriving, my bf and I cut through the Westin and found our way. After being seated at a high top, we decided to start off with green tea and the oyster tempura with truffle aioli. Very nice, but in hindsight, it’s probably hard to mess up frying an oyster. Our main course consisted of the TNT maki(baked spicy salmon, avocado, and cucumber), caterpillar maki(eel, avocado, cucumber and tobiko wrapped in avocado), crazy maki(shrimp tempura, tempura bits, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko, with spicy mayo) and the vegetable tempura maki(sweet potato, asparagus, cucumber, avocado, and lettuce). All the rolls we ordered were admittedly pretty standard but enjoyable nonetheless. The rolls were priced between $ 8 – 9. The service was great — very friendly and always refilling not only our waters, but our green tea as well. I do have other favorite sushi places to go to, so as a Bostonian, I probably won’t return, but if I was an out of towner staying at the Westin, it would be a nice change up from a burger and fries.

A little overpriced. Tuna tartare was good, lacked a little flavor. I had the spicy tekka roll. Had lots of tuna, and was typical/expected for a spicy tuna roll. Agree with other reviews — menu’s were tired and worn… but overall I was satisfied with my meal as a lunch. I would have been disappointed with this as dinner. They do have an impressive saki menu.

We went here for a late dinner on Friday night as there was a holiday party to attend at the Westin. I’m sorry. but this restaurant is a mess. First off, for a high end restaurant. their menus look crappy. They are torn and worn looking on the outside. Second, the service is less than stellar. The waitresses. not the bus boys. Not only did she not take my order, get me water, or get us plates. until I flagged her down all three times… she was slow with the check. never checked on us. She was exactly what you didn’t want in a waitress. The only attribute was that she was Asian so maybe you thought it was more authentic. Lastly, the food was just mediocre to horrible at best. The tuna tartare was not tuna tartare. Four little fried things. with some tuna piled in on it that is not seasoned or super fresh for $ 12? Go back to sushi school or try some other restaurants in the area. Spicy scallop roll sucked as well. not spicy… barely any scallop… uninspiring presentation. The yellowtail sashimi was only three pieces. also just okay. The best part might have just been the sake. but they didn’t prepare it. just bought it. The very best dish might have been the soft shell crab. That wasn’t too hard to make since it’s something deep fried. most deep fried dishes taste good. The salad sucked of course as well as the presentation. The place was tiny… only one bathroom. it doesn’ t matter if it looks trendy from the outside. everything else is bad. Oh. but the bus boys were really good and attentive. They get a shout out and find a new place to work.

Wasn’t sure of what to expect given the mixed reviews, but I figured it was worth a stop as I had to use my Groupon at some point. Thankfully, the meal did not disappoint. We decided to change things up a bit from our usual and go for two of the Hako sushi rolls — hamachi and tempura unagi with avocado. Both were reasonably priced by Boston standards and pretty delicious, especially the latter! Fresh ingredients all around and exceptional presentation made for one tasty dinner. Other items like the chirashi come at a huge premium(even more expensive than Oishii…) though, so choose carefully if you’re at all on a budget. Ambiance and service were both quite good too and I agree with others that it’d make for a quality date spot. …just maybe not the first one considering the prices haha.

I came here with a close friend after exams to celebrate. In fact, we actually had a timer counting down the days and seconds until we came here. After enduring six hours of exams that day, we were so excited to come here. After getting off the green line, we actually found this is a tiny place quite hard to find – it’s inside a mall. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, so we were seated right away at I loved the TNT Maki(baked spicy salmon, avocado, and cucumber, served atop a homemade hot sesame oil). While the salmon was quite ordinary, the oil was a wonderful addition to the sushi, as it allowed the pieces to just melt in my mouth, rounding the roll off for an almost perfect taste. The spider maki(soft-shell crab, avocado, tobiko, cucumber with spicy mayo) was still flaming hot when it was served to us, which made it so delectable, despite the fact that this roll was actually quite ordinary. The rice was warm and very recently mixed, so we were getting fresh and made-on-the-spot sushi. And the unagi hako was so banal, yet it was so perfectly executed: huge, plump pieces of eel beautifully layered on top of fresh avocado and perfect square piece of sushi rice. To this day, it is still the best unagi maki I have ever had. And I have an obsession disorder with unagi. The prices were quite overpriced – each roll only came with six pieces, and they ran about $ 15 each. Thank goodness I had a $ 50 coupon, as we ended up only paying $ 10 in tip and tax. Yes, this place is worth returning to, but not until I try Fish Market, Hana Sushi, and all the other famous sushi places I have yet to Unilocal.Looks like I’ll be spending a lot of time on Unilocal again, not that I do not already.

I would definitely recommend Osushi as a great spot to impress that pretty person across the table. Osushi is very visually stimulating, as is the food. The atmosphere is sophisticated, and the décor is modern with an eastern flair. But I gotta say, if you are taking yourself to lunch on a hot day, the sushi is just so-so; nothing spectacular, and nothing you can’t get for a third of the price wherever else. Also the actual bar section of the restaurant is tiny and tucked away between a wall and the chefs. Granted, if red napkins, tight spaces and minimalist soy sauce dispensers are your freak, maybe it’s worth it. Otherwise save yourself the $ and go get a cocktail and some oysters at Marliave for a buck a piece.

For the price I was expecting mind blowing sushi. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The sushi was good — but not the for the price. The drinks were good — but not for the price. With this place, you’re paying more for the scene and location than for the actual food — which kind of defeats the purpose of going out for a good meal. The service is — attentively annoying. The waiters hover around and as soon as you put your chopsticks down, or your glass down after taking one sip, someone is there to ask if everything is alright and to refill your glass. Which is good in a way, but if it happens every 2min while trying to peacefully eat and have a good conversation with company, it gets annoying. Not worth the asking price — at all.
