I had their Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen today and was pleasantly surprised! It was a very satisfying bowl of Ramen! The pork belly was melting in my mouth. Highly recommend this if you are in the neighborhood!

Went here for an impromptu date night, on the way to another event on Newbury St. It was circa 6:00 on a Wednesday night, so the place wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated immediately on the lower level. Our server Josh was very quick, and attentive. Both my boyfriend and I got the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. I got jalapenos on the side($ 1 extra for any additional toppings). The broth was excellent, meat was cooked really well, and the arugula on top had a nice crunch. Don’t forget to try the 7-spice powder with the ramen — gives it a nice added flavor.

Came here during lunch with the wife and got the following: Tuna Gone Wild Roll Lunch Box Spicy Salmon and Avocado Roll Sushi tasted great. Rice was seasoned well but raw fish pieces were served at room temperature. I’m sure they were fine to eat but kind of concerning that they were kind of warm… I would have preferred if they were cold but maybe they used fresh pieces so didn’t need to be refrigerated or something. Service was quick as well. It’s a tiny place so its not hard to find someone to help you if you need anything. In addition to sushi, they also serve ramen(haven’t tried it so can’t speak on it but I might come back to try their ramen) Overall it was a good experience, but definitely not amazing.

It wasn’t the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had, but it was hardly the worst. On the bright side, I did really enjoy the spicy salmon roll and the prices were fair for the portions we received. It wasn’t very busy during our late afternoon visit and the food was prepared and delivered to us promptly. It was probably easy for the kitchen to handle our order since our waiter had informed us to disregard half the menu as they were out of many items(but honestly, how are you out of rice bowls??). What bothered me the most was that my water glass was empty for the entire meal, only to be refilled when we starting throwing back sake. The Enrique Iglesias Pandora station(which I 100% guarantee is what they had on) was out of character for a sushi restaurant. I knew some of the songs, but Spanish language music while I’m eating sushi? I’d give it another try because I did enjoy the food, but the service needs some improvement.

I’ve been here a few times, and gotten takeout on many an occasion as well, and have to say this is a solid sushi and ramen joint. The staff is very friendly and efficient, and the prices are fair. Also, their sushi is pretty fresh and their ramen is solid. The last time I came here, which was a few days ago, I discovered they had redone their menu. They now offer a few different types of ramen, many of which feature pork belly! I the spicy pork belly ramen and it was pretty good. Not the best ramen I’ve ever had, but good. One thing I’m sad about is they got rid of their cocktails, which were delicious. I really hope they bring them back. Overall, though, it’s a good place to grab a quick bite when you’re in the Back Bay.

These people behave in a manner that is reprehensible. I’ve been to Snappy Sushi a few times, and until now I’ve always had good experiences. I sat at the sushi bar, which isn’t really a sushi bar as you normally think of it. It’s more like a counter, but you can still see the chefs preparing your food. I ordered a glass of wine, a roll, and two pieces of nagiri sushi. The roll is normally made with roe on it, which I don’t like, so I asked if it could be made without. The dinner comes but no wine. I asked for the wine, the waiter apologizes and brings it right over. I eat the nagiri sushi, and then I realize the roll has roe on it. I ask the waiter if I can get it without. He says sure, picks up the plate, and walks behind the counter. The chef is facing me, arms length away. I can see and hear everything. The waiter asks for a re-make of the roll, and I asked if it was possible to get it without the roe, mindful to keep my tone light and feminine sounding. The waiter turns to me and very evenly says«It’s my fault. Don’t blame him.» Okay, but no one was blaming anyone. I was sweetly asking a question that should have been a no-brainer. The chef picks the roe off with his finger, throws the slices haphazardly on a plate, and slams it down in front of me. The waiter circles back and I point this out to him. He asks for a remake of the roll, at which point the chefs unload on me, calling me a b*tch and an a**hole. I got up in complete shock, threw money for the wine and nagiri on the counter, including a tip none of them deserve, and left. No apologies from anyone, just insults and name calling from behind the counter. In my entire career as a foodie and lover of all things restaurant, I have never before turned my plate over in protest. I did tonight. I hope they go out of business.

Unfortunately, this place was mediocre at best. The portions of fish on the sushi were very thin and small. We ordered 2 Crunchy Eel Rolls and the Tuna Gone Wild Roll in addition to the seaweed salad. Although they all tasted good, there was not a lot of fish on the rolls. The seaweed salad portion was also small. Service was good. The ambiance is noisy and there is no privacy. The prices are too high for what you get.

When I walked in, there was a slightly fishy smell that made me want to walk two blocks back to the other sushi place in Newbury, but I’m glad I gave Snappy Sushi a chance. Initially, I was turned off by the idea of brown rice sushi(I’m a white rice purist, even if it means I’m probably going to have a shorter life ;D), but when the salmon omuri and california rolls I ordered arrived, I was really quite pleasantly surprised. The serving sizes are stingy for the price(and I don’t like the fact that they charge for tea… Asian restaurants typically offer complimentary tea, with refills, free of charge, but I guess Snappy Sushi counts as Asian fusion and can afford to be different), but I liked my experience overall.

Had the worst experience here on my birthday. First the wrong drinks were brought and it was suggested by the waitress that we just switch them around despite the fact that people had already taken sips from their drink. Finally when that was sorted out the waitress said there was free refills on the thai iced tea that I and 2 other people had ordered. When i asked for my refill it was told that they had ran out but i as was the other 2 people who got thai iced were welcome to order another drink. When i specifically asked multiple times if the new drinks were going to order was going to count as the free refill the answer was yes. I proceeded to order a new drink as did the other 2 people. Finally the food came and i asked for some spicy mayo and the waitress brought over way more than enough. When the check came, i as well as other people in my party were charged for the drinks that were supposed to be free and we were charged for the spicy mayo despite the fact the waitress did not mention they were an additional charge. When i talked to the waitress about it, she called the manager over and the manager argued with us multiple times and called us liars regarding the drinks and the mayo charge despite the fact that multiple people in the party confirmed she said our drinks were free and did not mention the additional charge for the mayo. The manager was so rude about it and barely made any changes to our checks. Needless to say my birthday dinner was ruined and I will never come here again.

Yummy! Went on a limb and tried some sushi choices I don’t normally enjoy. They actually weren’t my favorite(and they didn’t have miso soup on the menu which was weird) but I can’t deny that the fish was fresh and delicious. And our service was phenomenal! Waiter was so sweet :) Definitely be back

We ordered the summer ramen salad and two rolls, spicy tempura shrimp and spicy tuna. Everything was good, but we were hoping to be «wowed.» We are used to really delicious and beautiful sushi, so I think we might be sushi snobs!

How is this business sustainable??? If you are in the mood for sushi in the city, go to Fin’s. If you don’t mind traveling to Allston or Brookline, go to Sakayana or Yamato’s. Snappy Sushi, despite its name, hardly sells any sushi — the only thing I could find on the menu that had raw fish was tri-colored mini don. I am giving two stars rather than one star because I liked the way brown rice was marinated in this dish. There could have been more fish — there’s two slices of sashimi for each«color» ie salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. Also it’s not that fresh.

Okay, I was a a loyal regular here for years. I’d also come here with one or both bosses on occasion from time to time. However, the food started going downhill, and then the last time I came, I had a large upside down housefly underneath my salad. This was the salad that came with the triple lunch. They comped the triple lunch, but not the side of avocado rolls that I also ordered. At first I was fine with this, even though I ended up throwing them in the trash as soon as I left. In hindsight though, they should have comped me the whole bill. I was so grossed out by the experience I don’t know when I’ll be able to eat sushi again. :( People. I ate salad that sat on top of a huge dead fly. Bleh bleh bleh!!! I felt so sorry for the waiter.

We enjoyed our lunch here. It was an upbeat place with attentive service. We really liked the teriyaki chicken salad and the scallop roll. All in all, strong showing!

The sushi is great, especially the spicy eel roll. The Thai tea is a favorite too because it has boba in it. But their service and waiters have never been friendly and especially so when we’ve gone with our daughter. They have a very strong anti-kid vibe going on here and it’s small, crunched in seating where you’re all squished together and forced to hear everyone else’s conversations.

2.5÷5 This was our second visit here and our first since being back in the Boston area this year. We sat on the patio which is the main reason for eating here as you can enjoy Newbury street. We got the salmon roll, Mamemaki Roll, Tuna Gone Wild Roll, Miso soup, and a Spicy Crispy Scallop Roll. We added another salmon roll, but it took forever to arrive, 25 minutes forever which was long after a full day of shopping when we wanted to catch the train back to Cambridge. The portions of the rolls are on the small side for what you pay and the quality is middle of the road. The service was okay, they took a bit to come back and take our order and did not check on us very often, but we were seated by the hostess station so we were able to request things via them. The last add on roll took quite a long time and we would have rated them a bit higher if this had not been the case. See photos.

As an aspiring Unilocal elite member, I should have gone to a different sushi place(there’s an abundance) when I initially read these reviews! I ordered the spicy salmon and avocado roll, which was too mushy for my liking. I also ordered the spicy tuna roll, which was good. *6 pieces per roll for $ 6.95 each. Pros: outdoor seating, reasonable pricing, limited menu(which I view as a pro because it is not overwhelming). Cons: only three lunch specials(and only one for sushi), unimpressive sushi rolls overall.

Cheap-ish sushi on Newbury St. The sushi here will definitely not blow your mind but its a decent casual spot if you’re in the area. During the summer they have a cold noodle dish with imitation crab, tamago and sesame dressing. I had a serious craving for some cold noodles so I picked some up earlier today. It was a little on the pricier side for lunch, but the portion was pretty big(2 servings for me). I would prefer a different protein — maybe tofu or something would be better. Stars for their outdoor patio, which is usually filled.

The brown rice is nice and nutty, but each roll that I ordered came in six square pieces = six bites and thus a very, very light dinner for the price. Plan on ordering two rolls(and maybe a side). And yes, I might be the only person who has ever ordered the lobster roll(taking the hit so that you don’t). Confirmed: let’s just say buttered lobster does not belong on sushi, even if it is avant-garde. Service is good though they do tend to rush you during the lunch hour.

Kein aussergewöhnliches Restaurant. Man kann gemütlich sitzen, Sushi ist gut und nicht besonders teuer. Für eine kleine Pause während einer Shoppingtour auf der Newbury Street der ideale Ort um sich zu stärken!!!
