Wow! The food and service were outstanding. A lot of places have tasty food, but it’s because the chef uses butter, fat or sugar to make it that way Here, the food was so fresh and well prepared without much of that. Just good cooking techniques and combination of flavors. I had the salmon and my fiancé had the flat iron steak. Both were out of this world. Probably the best restaurant food I’ve had in a while. Service was excellent but we were there on a quiet Wednesday night, so can’t say how it would be during peak times. Oh, and make sure you order the smores dessert… it’s delicious! Later that evening my now fiancé proposed by the harbor walk, so it was undoubtedly a special night, but I’ll look forward to going back to Outlook soon for the cool atmosphere, friendly service and truly top notch food.

Just had my second meal here and I’m very pleased. Food is excellent, staff is a bit slow to respond but very friendly once they do. Vibe is cool, good music but not too loud. Had the chicken both times which was very tasty but not in the 5 star category. Will try a few more entrees the next time I’m staying here to see if they can bump up the rating!

I admittedly was apprehensive about trying this place, considering how much I HATE the Lookout Bar, but was mroe than pleasantly surprised. This is a true 5-star rating, and instantly cracked my Top 3 Restaurants in Boston. Started with the steak tartare and the gnocchi, which were both outrageous. The tartare was velvety and packed a nice peppery punch. The gnocchi might be the best appetizer I’ve ever had. It was a perfect flavor/texture combination in every bite: pillowy gnocchi, salty/crunchy guanchale(sp?), acidic/crunchy apple, mustard pop, and sweet/salty/tender pork — what more could you ever want!!! My wife had the flat iron, and I had the strip — both cooked and seasoned to perfection. The accouterments of both were excellent as well, with her chimichurri being the star that stole the show. For dessert we split the maple bacon bread pudding. J*sus.F*cking.Chr*st was it good. We also really enjoyed their wine program, as we found a fantastic prosecco and a cab — both fairly priced. Our waiter, cant think of his name — but he was from Provence, was top notch. He could not have been more enjoyable, and he paced us perfectly. The space was beautiful: very contemporary, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a view into the kitchen. Tip — get your reservations now, while people don’t know about this place. Once Spring comes, this place will be impossible to get into.

I came for drinks and dinner with 3 of my girlfriends. The restaurant is in the Envoy Hotel, and the hotel was decorated for the holiday season with lights and gingerbread houses in the lobby, which were very festive. We had a reservation and were immediately seated at a small round table in sight of the bar. It does seem the bar takes up a majority of the dining room, and many people were gathered having after work drinks. However, despite all the people, it wasn’t too noisy. We each ordered a different coctail, and they were all delicious and served in various glasses and copper mugs, dressed with flowers or fruits on the rim. I enjoyed the Look But Don’t Touch coctail– $ 12(Bully Boy Vodka, lemon, sherry, hibiscus and blackberry) — this was not too sweet but not too sour… I had two! My friend loved the Metal Flowers coctail– $ 12, which was Chai rum, peach bitters, Cointreau and lime. Overall, we were all very pleased with our drinks and the creativeness of the bartender. Our server was very helpful in making recommendations, and we ended up ordering a variety of starters. The Steak Tartare($ 15) was phenomenol! It consisted of chopped sirloin with pickled shiitake, smoked gouda mixed within and topped with a quail egg. It was served with crostini and a mustardseed sauce. My only complaint was they only provided a few crostini and I needed to request more. The Tuna and Salmon Sashimi($ 16) was a different take on your typical Japanese style sashimi. It was thinly sliced pieces of fish served with seaweed, togaroshi, ginger, radish, crème fraîche and topped with a seaweed vinaigrette. It was delicious, but not what I had expected when ordering sashimi. That being said, we did still thoroughly enjoy it. The 2-Grain Salad($ 11) was light and nutty, and consisted of quinoa, farro, goat cheese, olives, kumquat, arugula and kale, tossed in a mustard– citrus vinaigrette. The salad was flavorful and had a nice variety of textures within it. The Scallops appetizer($ 16) was incredible! The two large scallops were served on a bed of edamame and lentils, with a gorgeous sear and topped with baby turnips and crispy leeks. The server poured a crustacean broth over the dish at the table, which was a nice touch. The Bacon Flatbread($ 13) was a recommendation of our server and it did not disappoint. The crispy crust was topped with caramelized onion, valdeon cheese, mission fig, rosemary oil, and of course plenty of crispy bacon! This was a dish everyone at our table loved! The last appetizer we ordered was the Gnocchi($ 13), which was served with cider braised pork cheek, pancetta, leeks, apple and whole grain mustard butter. The Gnocchi were light and fluffy and the other flavors worked well with the dish. Lastly, we ordered the Papardelle entrée($ 17) which was only slightly larger of a portion than our appetizers. It was tasty, as it was served with fall squash, heirloom tomatoes, kale pesto, and hazelnut all tossed in a brown butter sauce, but I wasn’t as impressed with it as I hoped I would be. Overall, Outlook Kitchen and Bar had a wonderful atmosphere with fun coctails and tasty food. The dessert menu looked wonderful, with maple bacon bread pudding, pumpkin beignets, and a campfire torte, although no one had room during this visit. Next visit, I’ll be sure to save room for dessert!

Recently opened in the Envoy hotel. The view was of the Barking Crab. Tables are well spaced and when we went(Christmas night) not busy. The dining and bar room are in one open space; clean and industrial. TVs with the BB game on, but no volume; jazz music was playing. Our server was happy, helpful, and informed. The wine pours were generous, you got a mini carafe! I got the King Salmon which was fresh, tasty, and nicely seared with a rare center. My wife got the Pappardelle which was light and full of flavor. We shared the gelato sample of 3 flavors out of 5 options which turned out to be 4 since they ran out of one. I want to give it 5 stars, but need a second visit to validate that. Can’t wait for the rooftop to open!

Outstanding food. The Shrimp, Chorizo and Tomato soup was excellent. Highly recommend. Had the farm raised chicken, again amazing. Service was little slow but it was well worth it. The server was very good.

I thought I would like this place so much more just judging by the ambiance. Very clean, posh and modern. Open bar in the middle of the room with tons of choices for liquor, huge Windows which gave the place great lighting(and a front row view of The Barking Crab), well decorated, and even the servers were well dressed and tidy. But after two breakfasts there I wasn’t terribly impressed. Our service was very slow. I wanted to give the servers the benefit of the doubt but I had a bunch of other friends stay that same night and get breakfast as well and that was their biggest complaint — slow service. Our server just did not seem to give a darn. Took about 10 minutes to take an order and even longer to get change for the check. The food was okay, I really enjoyed their wheat toast which was extra thick. But the hash browns were cold, the bacon was suuiper greasy.

Food was excellent. Service is a big problem. Lots of people standing around and not doing much. We said we were in a rush and it made no difference. The ratio of tables to wait staff was 1:1 and service was still terribly slow. Our rushed breakfast took 1.5 hrs. Waitress had a hard time remembering two things so when she repeated coffee order back she got confused. I have no problem with bad memories — just use your pad and write it down. It’s really too bad that such high quality food is tainted by the service. I think it has to be fault of manager as they were all moving slow. Other tables were also looking around waiting for service. Sad. I hope there are some changes made here as I would love to come back for the food but would be too frustrated under current conditions.

Good food and friendly, attentive service. Atmosphere lacking because few diners and the space is cold and too brightly lit. Please turn up the thermostat and turn down the lighting.

I popped into recently opened OUTLOOK Kitchen + Bar at The Envoy during their first week. The first of two restaurants at the hotel(the second wittily dubbed Lookout) and led by Boston native Chef David Verdo. I loved the New England centric menu flush with seafood and vegetarian options. The décor is stunning and provides an visceral seaport experience with its teak said to have been reclaimed from shipping vessels. Delicious cocktails and if offered the dessert menu, take it(one word; marshmallows.)

My friend and I recently had dinner at Outlook. I was very impressed with the space and atmosphere(soft lighting, comfortable seating, beautiful bar). However, the service and food were underwhelming. Our server was very nice, but there were a few little mistakes that ultimately took away from the dining experience. For example, I ordered white wine and she brought me red — not a big deal at all, and she was very quick to fix it. Then, we received the salumi flatbread instead of the bacon flatbread. The girl who brought it to the table asked us if we wanted the salumi anyway, but when we said yes, she took it away. Finally, the gentleman who brought us our entrees(I believe a manager) gave us the wrong orders even though he asked us who had ordered what before putting the plates down. All that being said, everyone was very, very nice. The service itself though, wasn’t very impressive. The food also was not as good as expected. The flatbread was a bit burnt, and the blue cheese dominated all of the other flavors. The chicken entrée tasted good, but the breast was overcooked and quite dry. One positive is their drink menu — the cocktails all looked really interesting, and my friend said that their whiskey cocktail was delicious. I really wanted to love this restaurant because it is in a unique part of the city and because the ambiance is fantastic. However, the food and service left something to be desired, so I will probably not go back.

The food was great! Our waiter was super nice and there was a good vibe around. The bartender, Brian, was awesome and he told us all about the menu and we had a great chat about food :) Overall good experience so I hope it stays that way!

The best fish I have ever had in a restaurant. In a restaurant like this, in the seaport, the prices are completely reasonable. Great atmosphere. The cocktails are unique and worth getting.

Great experience from the food to the service and the ambience. Our waitress Stephanie was super knowledgeable and very accommodating. We told her that we had to be In and out by a certain time and she handled it all. The food was amazing from the gnocchi, to the halibut and S’mores dessert. The dessert was out of this world! All in all would definitely go back!

This looks like a place I think I should love. Ah but, but, why don’t you let me love you, the way I think I should love you! It’s a great looking space, modern menu, and the kitchen looks pro. But looks are all I got. Came in and seated myself at the bar. A couple singletons, couples at the hightops. This is alright. But through 10 mins hanging out, no «hello», smile, «I’ll be right with you», menu, water, not a single acknowledgement from the three bartenders, preferring to stock bottles, pouring wine, chatting it up with the local rich dude at the other end of the bar. So I left. At Drink not too far away, within 10sec, with a cheery wink and a smile, even with a full bar, I have a custom cocktail on the way. Back to my original love.

This has got to be the best kept secret in Boston! Located in the Envoy Hotel across from the Barking Crab. The food is far superior in taste, quality and uniqueness than any of the other top rated food restaurants here in Boston. Stephanie our server deserves an A+ for service, friendliness, and knowing the products. Kim is one of the best desert chefs hands down. Being from Vegas we have experienced many a big names in the food world and She could beat them all with her specialties. To finish off our meals we experienced the most creative tasty s’more plate desert inclusive of those toasted campfire marshmellows. Out Look has only been open a few months but I can tell you that any food critic would wow the ambiance, presentation, taste, personnel and above all the price. Please treat yourself and try Out Look first and I promise you will not be disappointed.

This is just a phenomenal new restaurant. The entire experience was amazing. We started out with champagne on the roof deck with the just an incredible view of the Boston Harbor. This is the finest spot in the city to have a drink. After a little champagne we had just one delicious course after another in the first floor restaurant. The shrimp tempura over noodles had fantastic flavor in the sauce. Next we had slices of duck that again were just as flavorful. Each course brought wonderful new flavors and none disappointed us. The salmon was served over Brussels sprouts and had a tasty little seared crust on the top that just made this perfect. The sirloin was served with a chimichurri sauce and was so tender and juicy that it just melted in your mouth. For dessert we sampled the s’mores served with marshmallows in a jar that open to reveal a genuine campfire, bread pudding and beignets that were all true genius. The chef and his staff have something really special here and this is a place to get to right away because very soon it will be impossible to get a reservation on a weekend. The staff was as attentive and professional as you will find. There were no weaknesses here. You only have one chance to make a first impression and outlook just blew me away.

This place was awesome! Came here on a Friday night and easily go ta res. for 7:30. We were served by Nicole and she was attentive, great recommendations on drinks and food, and was super friendly. We we ordered was all really good except for the pesto flatbread(standard, not very interesting or worth the $). But everything else was great: –the burger –the shrimp tempura The cocktails were so good — the champagne one with the flower in it(!) and the gin and cucumber drink were so great. This place would certainly benefit from having simply more people and a better lounge vibe but it was nice that it wasn’t douchey like the upstairs bar. We also were able to see a room in the hotel after the manager arranged for us to take a look at the 2 bed room suites & the regular rooms. The suite was gorgeous & the views of the city are really cool. Def. will be back — loved the place.

I ate at outlook on one of their first Friday nights open and I was more then impressed. I could hardly believe I was in a hotel restaurant. It was very beautiful. The kitchen is separated from the dining room by a glass wall so you get dinner and a show. There is something special about watching the chefs making your meal. I had started my meal with the pulled pork tacos(recommended to me by a friend) and an old fashioned with rye whiskey. The tacos were spot on. The pork was tender, the slaw was tasty, and the avocado was the cherry on top. I really like my old fashioneds, and it is annoying how many bartenders fail at this classic, but this old fashioned, I am still talking about it was so good. It is definitely in my top 5 I’ve had ever. For my entrée I had the chicken breast with the led roulade with trumpet mushrooms, water chestnuts, celery root purée and an apple cider sauce. The skin was crispy, the mushrooms tender and everything was seasoned well. Solid dish all around. Lastly dessert, just WoW. I had the«campfire» s’mores. Dark chocolate ganache on a graham crumb crust, toasted meringue and a crispy chocolate hazelnut crispy thing. On the side was toasted house made marshmallows sealed in a jar with actual smoke. It actually looked like, smelled like and tasted like a campfire snores, just in a completely other level. Everything about this dessert was pretty epic and I need more of it in my life, please, now. Overall this place really surprised me. Definitely becoming one of my standard places. Very nice and surprisingly affordable. 5 out of 5
