This place is SO good! It’s in a bit of an odd location, and is a pain to get to. We walked(in the freezing Boston winter) but even if we drove, there would have been no parking. Once we got there though, there was no doubt we made the right choice. Apps were really good, we got the calamari and potstickers. Everything was very fresh, and clearly(in a good way) homemade. But what was really delicious was my meal. I got the short rib gnocchi, and let me tell you it was SPECTACULAR. This was seriously one of the best meals I have EVER had. The short run was juicy and perfectly tender. The gnocchi were so good, and either homemade, or gotten at one of the authentic Italian markets all over Boston. The rest of my family loved their meals, but mine was the clear favorite. I would lost definitely go back, and if you are ever in Boston you MUST come here!

I was disappointing by this place. Came here on a Saturday night with my fiancée. I had been looking forward to coming here for a while, but wouldn’t recommend coming back. The Good — The physical space is actually really nice, and the location is great. The ideas for the dishes were good at least, just poorly executed in my view. The dishes past the eye test and looked appealing, unfortunately the taste didn’t follow suit. The Bad — There really wasn’t one dish I tried that I would consider so-so. We started with the mussels which had beans and lamb belly bacon(which was actually a nice touch). The mussels were dry and overcooked, the beans were very undercooked; go figure. The sauce didn’t add anything. We each split our entrees, which were the trout and the short rib gnocchi, each dish suffered from having being dominated by one flavor note on the palette. The trout was cooked ok, but really sweet. It came with shaved brussel sprouts and a parsnip purée. There wasn’t enough of the purée, and the sweetness of the sauce really brought the dish down. For $ 26 I would’ve expected more. The short rib gnocchi sounded great. The dish looked great too. I basically consider myself a gnocchi connoisseur. Well executed gnocchi should be light and fluffy, this was neither. It tasted like it might have been frozen. The short rib was cooked fine, but really salty. Just an unpleasant dish all around. Parting thoughts — I was hoping I would like this place, unfortunately the highlights(location and aesthetics) had nothing to do with the flavors of the food. With other good options in the area, it’s kind of hard to see myself coming back here.

Visited gather for the first time for a friends birthday. Our waiter, Justin, was incredibly knowledgable about the drink menu, and suggested the most delicious drinks. He was very attentive and personal throughout our meal. Love the ambience of Gather, but our waiter truly made our experience perfect

Their blueberry lemonade vodka drink(which I call purple drank amongst my seaport residents) is worth coming here alone for Their bite size chicken and waffles are perfect– the chicken tastes amazing and the waffle batter is life The artichoke pizza is also really good The service and staff are very good Ambiance — very nice. Lots of fancy nearby federal court house important people can frequently be seen eating here Sometimes you’ll get a parking meter

Went here on MLK day and I got the ALMONDCRUSTEDGREYSOLE with Saffron Fettuccine, Bouillabaisse Broth, Haricots Verts, Cockles. I have to say this was one of the worst fish dishes I have ever got. The fish is not almond crusted, you cant see one almond, not sure if they grind it up in flour but even that base it was impossible to tell. The Saffron fettuccine had absolutely no saffron taste or no visible threads of saffron, it was basically watered down pasta. And finally even the pasta was under-cooked. They completely failed on all three aspects of this dish. In addition, the cocktails are run of the mill that anyone can make and they have a generic beer list. I rated this two stars because my wife got the GRILLEDLAMB T-BONES with Coffee & Cacao Rub, Baby Carrots, Baby Beets, Mint Veal Reduction, Cinnamon Spätzle with a glass of wine which she really enjoyed. Overall, I will not be back here nor recommend due to the pricing($ 100 for two entries and two drinks with no apps) and their inability to execute on a dish when they had ample opportunity with 10% occupancy.

If you’re at the ICA deciding between Gather and Water Café forget the latter. Though hardly unique, Gather’s trendy– industrial-chic– I recommend you get a full platter of chicken and waffles. Forgoing fries is unlawful, Though that pizza will make you much fatter.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Enjoyed the charred octopus, mussels and the hummus plate.

I’ve been to this place on several occasions(both work and non-work evenings) and enjoyed my experiences thoroughly. The menu is quite varied, so the nice thing about coming here is that there is something for pretty much everyone. There’s also a solid beer, cocktail and wine list, again should be something for everyone. As others have mentioned, one of my personal favorites is the duck tacos starter. Good for sharing(3 per plate) and large in size. If you order this for yourself plus an entrée, you may feel that you have too much. The charred octopus is another strong choice in the starter area, as well as the homemade chips and dip. All of these are great options if a table wants to share starters. On the evenings where I’ve ordered things that aren’t starters, I’ve been really happy with the poached fig and prosciutto flatbread, as well as the jambalaya. The space is not enormous, but with a reservation you can definitely have a reasonably large group in attendance. In the summer, there is a lovely patio set up. This probably adds about 50% more seating to the place. This is easily accessible from either South Station or the Courthouse stop on the Silver Line. There is parking around, but as more and more buildings spring up in the Seaport district, it seems like parking is becoming increasingly challenging. The interior is a shared space with some other areas within District Hall. The ceilings are high, so noise does travel. If you’re looking for a quiet, intimate meal, this isn’t the place for you. Prices are fair given the quality of food and atmosphere. Definitely one of the more affordable places in the Seaport District.

Met friends at ICA, and we need something after that, so tried out Gather. The staff is friendly and was attentive. Menu is pretty diverse and you should be able to find something to have. I had lamb chops which they miss temperature on them. Happily the staff had another dish fired, and delivered ASAP. The food was good, not five stars but a solid three, and what you can expect at the affordable prices for Boston.

I really want to have my wedding here they stopped doing buyouts! When I inquired about it it was still an option per the website. Been here for dinner and the food is pretty good. Love the décor!

The bar is located steps away from ICA which is very convenient if you visit the museum or just walking by. The interior is no special, looks any other place, but the view is kind of nice. The service is so-so: we waiter for a waiter for maybe 20 mins until somebody asked the hostess to call them. The cocktails are good, nice taste. The food is okay. Lobster roll could be better.

Great lunch today at Gather Casual location right down on the harbor. Hard to find a place to park but that was my only problem. Go in to front door and it’s casual seating on the right and the tables wait service on the left. Nice and varied menu. I went with a Tapas approach because so many of the appetizers looked good. Went with the veal meatballs, grape leaves, grilled octopus. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly

Gather… what a great name for a restaurant! And many kudos to whoever did the interiors, this is one of my fav spaces in seaport. Very unique and industrial without feeling forced. As for the food I give it a solid 3 stars. The short rib pizza(the Friday special) is insane with grilled onions and mashed potato on top. Their salads are also legit with fresh veggies and interesting toppings. My biggest complaint is the soda(or pop as the they call it up here) has been consistently too syrup-y and I officially won’t be ordering it again. Not a big deal but girls gotta have her caffeine! Second complaint is the service can be spotty. Otherwise a great little spot for lunch with your coworkers.

While waiting for the Design Exchange Boston conference registration to open up, I ordered a White Peach Sangria, Iced Tea with lemon and a Caesar Salad. The White Peach Sangria was kind of watered down but had a strong peach liqueur taste. The Iced Tea came unsweetened and garnished with a blueberry. The Caesar Salad consisted of mixed greens tossed a cheesy garlicky aioli and served with two slices of grilled baguette crostini. The salad was a bit overpriced, I won’t have paid more than $ 9 for it.

Being pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon of a holiday weekend made me suspicious. Actually, it wasn’t quiet, it was empty(inside anyway… the outside was occupied by a few patrons). However, we were quickly greeted and seated and drinks were ordered. The beer list was a solid as was the cocktail list, and everyone in our large party seemed happy with the offerings. Overall, I thought the food was decent. Some interesting menu items(the duck tacos were the highlight) yet some misses in terms of execution. We ordered the Cod BLT and it was a generous piece of fish but the breading wasn’t seasoned at all and I found myself wish there was more sauce(I believe there was some sauce but not a lot given the portion of fish). The cuban spring rolls were also meh(though my husband enjoyed them more than I)… they had great promise but seemed too salty and the portion seemed meager given the price tag. Our server was excellent and everything came out within a reasonable amount of time so no complaints there. I think, overall, it’s a cool space but they could fine tune some of their offerings and make it a standout food destination.

The waitresses are über über sweet. The food was a little on the skimpy side, though, but good nonetheless. The atmosphere was alive; beware that’s it’s really loud, though. They’re in the same building as District Hall. In fact, the entrance opens up to the lobby of District Hall. I hate how the restroom is all the way down the hall inside of the District Hall building, but it was pretty clean and spacious nonetheless, so they get points for that. All and all, I would return again for lunch or a light dinner.

Gather made a solid choice taking residence in an area under extreme development, where business is booming but work-day friendly lunch options are slim. This place is a stones throw from our Boston office. As an out-of-towner, I concluded that I was not leaving Boston without having either a) lobster or b) bakes beans. #touristyesiknow A quick peek at the menu, lobster cobb it was! Outside patio is awesome on a sunny day. Inside space is pretty posh, I can see it being great for a client lunch. Service creeped. Took quite a while to get any attention and place our orders, but the food did come out relatively quickly. My salad? Lobster like whoa. Huge portion, horray! I only had room to dabble in the accompanying hard-boiled egg, blue cheese, bacon, etc. Pretty pricey, but then again, lobster. All in all one of the more decent spots in the area.

I’ve had a handful of apps, desserts, cocktails, beer, coffees. Overall, I really like Gather. It is one third(the restaurant/bar part) and two thirds working/studying/meeting environment. The octopus appetizer is everything. FYI. Look at the water over a grassy park outside or sit inside under cool vintage bulbs.

Went here the other night after an event with one of my friends. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful night. I was worried at first because the patio was full and I didn’t see many employees working but service was surprisingly speedy. Drinks came quick. They have a fun drink list. I forget what I got but I was happy with my choice. My friend got the Lychee Martini that was tasty. The Peach Sangria was good too. We ordered a bunch of apps to share. They came out as they were ready and that worked out well. We were hungry and ate pretty much everything off every plate. No complaints on the food. LOVED the Scallop Ravioli — so interesting and different. Chicken and Waffles were cute and bite sized, a little greasy but still delicious. Everything on the menu was super creative. Dessert was awesome also. We got the Bananas Foster and Strawberry Shortcake — YUM! Everything was reasonably priced. The patio was so perfect! Amazing view without being too cold or buggy. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat after a Unilocal Elite event just down the road. After perusing the menu, we decided to split a bunch of dishes and have a tapas-style meal. Chicken and Waffles(4 stars): We wondered how a chicken and waffles dish could only be $ 6, but quickly realized how when we saw that it was literally bite-sized. It was a nice starter and was a decent enough size with 5 pieces. Duck tacos(4 stars): These tacos were quite large and came with 3 total. I really enjoyed the duck as it was tender and flavorful, along will all of the toppings, with the exception of the kimchi, which I did not care for. I typically enjoy kimchi, so this came as a bit of a surprise. Fig and prosciutto pizza(3 stars): I only had one piece of this pizza, but it did not really impress me as much as some of the other dishes did. Decent size for us to share though. Beef wellington(5 stars): This was by far my favorite dish of the night. I thought that it was a bit odd that they cut it open for us before serving it, but the meat was so tender and juicy and complemented the pastry dough and cheese that it was served with. In addition, the grilled spinach was delicious and really was the icing on a very flavorful cake. The mashed potatoes didn’t do much for me, but this was completely overshadowed by the other parts of the dish. We also ordered picante margaritas which were decent and packed a nice punch to them. Overall, we enjoyed a nice evening meal on the patio overlooking the river and downtown Boston. Though our waiter seemed a bit rough around the edges(he forgot the dessert menu), the ambiance and friendliness of the staff was great. Definitely check this place out for that wellington – you won’t be disappointed.
