In June, after moving to Boston, I purchased a two-level garden unit in a south end brownstone. The place was in pretty bad shape. No, check that, in God-awful shape, as the previous owner was an elderly chain smoker and a cat owner who had the place for nearly twenty years. I was anxious about the smells, the costs and whether I could even get this place livable for me and my family. To add to my anxieties, I knew of no contractors. Thankfully I managed to find Kevin at Plattypus, by walking around the south end and looking at other jobs they were working on. I was fortunate I did. Kevin and team came in and quickly assessed the work that needed to be done, which included all new wooded floors upstairs, stripping and skimming all the walls and painting the entire place, ripping out and installing a new carrera marble master bathroom, updating a ton of electrical and plumbing items and replacing Central air conditioning and heating systems. Due to my budget restraints work on the kitchen was not undertaken at this phase of renovation. To my great relief, all the work Kevin and his team performed on my place was done to a very high standard. Of particular note are his team of painters. They had a really tough job given the state of the walls and these guys did a especially fabulous job. The walls and ceilings look fantastic! Also, his tile guys. The master bath came out beautiful. Really great job on the tile work. In the end, I wound up spending about 10% of the cost of my place on all the renovation work, which honestly is extremely good value for money and has been fully reflected in the newly appraised value of our home. Also of note, we had a couple of small issues since the renovation and Kevin took care of them immediately. I guess the best recommendation I can give Plattypus is to say that when it comes time to redo our kitchen or our new place, Kevin will be the first guy I call. I Highly recommend him.
