Any festival with pupusas is automatically a good thing. Especially when they are coming from local kitchens that specialize in such delights. Throw in local craft beer, entertainment & fun for the kids then you have the makings of a great time. So for $ 10 the event gives you all you can eat pupusas but it seems that a few of the local restaurants dropped out & there was one location which had cheese & pork choices. The wonderful kids of Zumix, fresh from their performance, was serving up the hot bundles of yum. Rice, beans, cole slaw & a tasty sauce were all options. A very hot Revere Fire hot sauce was also a nice option. A vegan option made from griddled blue corn topped with fresh slaw was refreshing to see. A local snack producer, Maninuts, was offering free samples & products for sale. I just wish there was a few more options. A small beer garden was setup & a decent selection of craft brews were available from El Salvador to Magic Hat. A slight state restriction did not allow children in the roped off area but dogs were totally welcomed. Good prices for good beers going to a good cause. All proceeds went to East Boston arts. There were the wonderful children’s entertainment from Jenny the Juggler to a great balloon artist. The little ones were allowed to draw in chalk on the ground & there was enough space to run around. The best part of the day came by way of the stage. From the musical stylings of the young musicians from Zumix to the varies local dancers. They took us on a journey all over South America & was wonderful. The day turned a bit cloudy & cold but the spirit of the event was great. I hope they get more vendors for next year when I get my pupusa mania on again!!!
