A decent place to visit, but nothing special to write home about. The décor is a bit run down, and I wouldn’t recommend sitting too close to the bathrooms. We found the server a bit brusque. For an appetizer, we had edamame, which were properly chewy and the salt was well mixed through. So, nice. I had a bim bim bap, but not in the hot pot, which was a mistake I realized, because the dish was mostly tepid in temperature, and the«spicy» bim bim sauce was thin and not very flavorful. I’ve been to Korea(and there is also a very nice place in Ayer, Ma), and this didn’t compare. My partner had a clear rice noodle dish which was also a bit tepid and whose flavor was very subdued. Frankly, I doubt I would go again.

DONOTORDER Salmon Teriyaki. It tasted sooo fishy. We were convinced they were using expired salmon, the leftover from sushi or sashimi, to make the dish. When we sent the dish back uneaten, they didn’t even have the decency to take the charge off of our bill. They also overcharged us for sashimi. It was a very poor experience. You can easily find better Japanese or Korean food elsewhere.

They put a ton of great, fresh fish in their sushi rolls! Really really good sushi! The staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is really nice, If a bit too dark.

I ate here a few times, most recently during my lunch breaks during the bar exam. I called ahead and asked my lunch be prepared at a certain time two days in a row. Both times I got there my sushi rolls were waiting, freshly made and nicely sized. Service was very kind. I also passed the bar exam and I honestly believe it was because I took my lunch break in such a calming and nice environment!

My boyfriend and I wanted a light meal, and the sushi were was perfect! We were trying to find the place, and it was a bit hard. On Maps it shows it’s right next to the Apple Store, but it’s a garden level! We got a couple of rolls, but the roll I enjoyed the most was their Sunday special. It was a truffle oil toro maki. It was different from all the rolls I’ve had before! I definitely recommend this place.

As someone who has worked in multiple sushi restaurants and have great appreciation for good sushi, I can finally say that I’ve found my favorite sushi restaurant in the city after 2 years of being here. Both times I’ve been to Samurai Boston, I was impressed by how many Japanese people were there. The first time we were seated next to a group of Japanese businessmen and the second time I sat next to a table of 20-something year old Japanese group. I thought that this had to be a good sign when you want authentic Japanese food. When the food came out, I was not disappointed. The presentation and the quality of the fish were great. I got Chirashi Don and it was perfect, the fish was fresh and a good amount of fish was used to top the rice. We also got Pork Katsu which was fried to crispy perfection. However, my second experience could have been a little better(I’m giving 5 stars despite this disappointing visit, because my first experience was so great). I ordered a special roll(White Tiger Roll) and a Korean soup dish(Yuk whae jang). First, the roll was good, but the rice was falling apart because either the rice was not sticky enough or the chef did not roll it with enough pressure. As for the Korean dish, the portion was pretty small for the price and the taste was just«acceptable.» I guess I’ll just have to go to Allston for authentic Korean food. So when you go here, definitely try either nigiri or sashimi/sashimi containing dish, but try to stay away from the Korean dishes. Also, get a draft of Sapporo(a Japanese beer) to accompany your meal, you won’t regret it!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but actually really good sushi and cute, cozy place inside.

the food is okay for 3 stars here but have to have 1 star for customer service. I called at 12:35 got lunch special with beef. I asked the front desk girl about the menu and she said she was busy and could not tell me about the menu. Ok fine. I asked her get beef for lunch special and she trapped me by gave me the regular lunch with higher price. It is still fine until I open my lunch at worked without rice. I don’t know what kind of careful for customer there. It s ruin my lunch.

The restaurant waitress served us an unclean spoon however the waitress admitted her mistake right away. But the owner just wanted us to eat without complaining. This restaurant deserves to close down with this kind of customer excellence. My friends and I even have an upset stomach right now. Worst restaurant in boston area.

Went here for a lunch break during my stay at an animé convention with 6 people~ We were seated pretty quickly, but we waited quite some time for our waiter to greet us. The service really could have been better, and the place itself wasn’t even busy? There was probably 3 other parties. Their lunch specials are only on weekdays so that made me sad. Besides that, the prices were a bit pricy for the entrees. One of my friends ordered some noodles but even I thought the portion was pretty small. I had tofu/edamame bibimbap but it’s not the best I’ve had from Boston. There was barely any veggies or tofu. Trying to figure out how to split the bill with my friends, our invisible waiter came and just said«tip is 20%» ??? That was pretty rude for a waiter who hasn’t been around. I don’t think I’d ever come here unless it’s during the lunch special.

Not impressed. Our waiter asked us if we wanted a menu upon sitting down. What kind of restaurant asks if you want a menu? Of course we do! Only two minutes after we were seated, she asked us if we knew what we wanted. We asked for about 10 minutes, we wanted to settle in since it was pouring outside. Again. Two minutes, and she came back. We still weren’t ready, and she just rolled her eyes at us. The third time, she came over and asked if we were ready, in the most annoyed and irritated voice. That is not okay. The only thing annoying and irritating was her. Ugh. I got the yaki udon, nothing special. Kinda bland in terms of flavoring and the cooking of vegetables were inconsistent. Some cabbage was almost raw, whereas some were so soggy and wilted! The place was empty, yet I had to wait five minutes just to find someone to get the check. And the person to give me the check wasn’t even my waiter. Upon leaving, she gave us a dirty look too. Never coming back here again.

I love the décor. It looks very fresh and modern. I am always hesitant of restaurants that feature numerous styles of Asian cuisine, because I always wonder if they’ll miss the mark and not quite master anything. I ordered the hot stone bimpibap, with tofu and edamame. While I typically love Korean food, this was just not good all. It’s served in a hit stone pot, but there was no crunchy rice as is typical in this dish. The spicy sauce was served on the side(cold) which really didn’t enhance anything, and the flavors were boring at very best. Honestly, the best part of my meal was the miso soup that came out first. The server was nice enough, the location is great, and the ambience is nice. I just didn’t think the food was good at all. In the future, I’ll stick with Seoul in Beacon Hill.

I am really disappointed in this restaurant. I was really excited to try this place out because there are some great reviews. However, everything tasted so bad. In fact, there were some highlights about our meal, but due to the inconsistency of the food, it made the overall meal terrible. The service was super slow and horrible as well. I don’t recommend the sushi. There are better sushi restaurants in the area. I am also not a fan of the lighting. It is way too dark. Maybe it was just a bad night. But, I am willing to try this place out again considering that I came here five months ago.

It had a funny smell walking in like it smelt like the bathroom. Sushi was meh nothing stood out, there wasn’t a fresh taste to it. Our waitress came over to refill our water often I don’t think she told us her name either. Overpriced sushi.

Meh. Overall this place is overpriced for the kind of food they serve. Portions/quality don’t fit the price point. Some dishes that my friends ordered were really good but majority of our food was okay but expensive. I got the japchae with beef and I can’t really said I actually got any beef in my dish… This place was open late with no wait but I can see why now.

OMG I’m SOLD! So here’s the story, I’m always iffy about sushi especially in the back bay area being that its overpriced for the same quality that I can get elsewhere. Friend convinced me to stop by here and give it a try. Ordered the Avocado salad which was nicely presented with a light layer of mayo which was nice since they usually come out drenched in dressing. The presentation for this app was they had avocado slices surrounding the cucumber&crab mixture which was unexpected. For sushi, we ordered the Wild fire, Spicy Salmon lover, Spicy Scallop & Volcano roll. I was mezmerized! each roll really gave off its own unique taste and I could easily distinguish what I was eating. The Spicy salmon lover and spicy scallop were my personal favorites. Each raw item was creamy and savory, it was soooo good. The volcano roll was disappointing, they had this weird sauted mixture of crab and tuna on top of the roll and it threw off my taste buds. The place was not packed but it can still get pretty loud and popular with groups coming in and out. The place can be pretty small and it felt small even though it was just me and a friend. I’m coming back!

This restaurant is suffering an identity crisis. And too bad, as I’m not a big fan of fakey catch-all Asian places occupying hot real estate like this. This is right across from Gucchi — could we get an authentic, elegant sushi bar, or a hip Korean BBQ joint maybe? You walk in and the décor is elegant and the wood makes it feel very Japanese. But then you see the menus that feel plastic and gross and sticky. The menu is split pretty 50⁄50 with Korean dishes and Japanese dishes(though it wasn’t obvious to me that the people working there were either!). While the food options are uncreative, it is at least tasty! My friend got the pork bulgogi which was large and seemed tasty enough. I got the chirashi sushi, as that’s always a good way to taste the fish somewhere. It was actually very tasty! The fish were very fresh, though the slices were huge. Still, I felt the prices were very high for a place with such regular yet jumbled up menu items. Overall, it tasted good enough but had no wow factor to make up for the high prices. Also as a half Japanese, it makes me sad to see these places that market themselves as Japanese when they clearly aren’t.
