Called to place a delivery order, once I gave my address to the guy taking my order he simply told me he don’t deliver to Dorchester and hang up on my face. Didn’t give me the chance or the option to say I’ll pick up since I was on the intersection of Mass Ave and Columbia Road. Must be making a lot of profits to treat customers like this. I was just at the location Friday and I spent $ 202 of Dorchester money between me and 3 others of my friends.

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat on a Sunday night. It wasn’t very crowded, so we were able to be seated right away. This place has a nice aesthetic and has tables for two that look out onto the street for great people watching, which we enjoyed. For my meal, I had a bite of my friend’s avocado salad – which was actually super delicious and probably my favorite part of the meal. I also ordered a crazy roll and a spicy tuna roll – both of which had great flavor and were enough to fill me up. Overall, this place has a great ambiance when it has a bit of a crowd and the service is super friendly. Our waitress was not the most attentive, but she was very accommodating nonetheless. Not a bad option for sushi in the South End.

I hadn’t heard of this place but happened to stop in. It’s cool because it used to be a antique furniture store and the outside still has the signage. Today it is a sushi restaurant and wine shop. If I lived in the area I would take full advantage of takeout and wine pickup-one stop shop. The décor inside the restaurant was trendy. We came on a Tuesday night and we were the only ones there. Again, were the only ones there. but the service was horrible. Waitress was not attentive, we had to ask to order drinks. The sushi however was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our rolls. The wine selection was also a plus.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Boston. Excellent wine selection with reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and service. Perfect spot for a date or a night out with a few friends.

Seiyo has an excellent wine shop, with concisely curated(if seemingly imprisoned) craft beer and spirits, alongside the uniquely displayed bottles of grape juice. The quality for such a confined and limited space is paramount to success, and the buyer does a stellar job of keep the right sauce on hand. Prove it, you say? I went looking for Bulleit(our house’s house bourbon) and the manager suggest I give G&W Private Stock a go, «for cocktails, it’s a solid and cheap bottle.» I did and he was right. I’m not sipping it neat, but for $ 20, it definitely suited its purpose. My single lunch at Seiyo(yes, it’s a sushi counter and a wine shop) yielded perfectly fine cuts of sashimi, with ginger dressed iceberg, a few steamed gyoza and shumai, a spicy tuna roll and a unique fruit salad of grape halves and cantaloupe. Kicked off with a bowl of steaming miso, it’s a decent lunch for $ 14. Not the most mind-blowing in quality, but hey, a few pulls of G&W and you won’t know the diff.

Really a four plus stars experience. We went over the weekend for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. Excellent and imaginative sushi. Service was excellent, and they do have a full bar(some something about beer and wine only). Not only do they have a full bar, but a fantastic beer list. Service was excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

I live in the neighborhood, so I often order sushi here(mainly takeout). It’s probably my favorite reasonably-priced sushi in the South End/Back Bay area. Fresh and tasty. The Maki combo is a great deal for standard sushi.

Affordable sushi restaurant in the South End, and in Boston in general. The menu is quite extensive with occasional seasonal choices. Inside the restaurant there is a neat little liquor store that offers craft beer, spirits, and wine. Highly recommend to those who are a fan of sushi and/or craft beer!

Had a Shrimp Tempura bento box for lunch and it was just the right amount its like having tapas in a box. They start you off with miso soup. It came with a piece of seafood shumai, gyoza, tofu skins wrapped in sweet tofu skin, a mixed greens, and fruit. It a light healthy lunch and delicious at heart. The décor is swanky in casual setting love it here !

the first time I was here, I got a Philadelphia roll with expired cream cheese. I gave this place another try today and received shrimp tempura that had to have been at least a day old. the tempura was hard on the outside, soggy on the inside, and it tasted like old frying oil. yuck. I asked for the shrimp to be on the side but it came out inside of the soup– probably in attempt to mask the smell and taste of extremely old fried shrimp. sadly, it didn’t mask anything but only made it soggier and more disgusting.

The only reason I gave this place 1 star because 0 star is not allowed… The food is kinda of disgusting… totally not fresh… They just used sauce and wasabi to cover the weird smell… I had the runs after I came back from the place… i wonder if I eat something bad from there… won’t go back again…

Food: 4⁄5 One of the better Japanese places I’ve tried in the Boston area. All of their sushi is very well crafted and you can tell it’s done by people who know what they’re doing. Atmosphere: 5⁄5 Very tiny and intimate kind of place but feels warm and comfortable Service: 5⁄5 Staff was very attentive, quick, and friendly throughout the entire night and even when we were trying to order a few more things at the end of the night while they were about to close.

we really like this place. The special maki menu is diverse and very good. We get here a few times a year and always love to hang for a few hours and take our time. It’s a great neighborhood to walk around. Very cool place with a wine shop built right in. Get the maki combo. It’s a steal at 12 bucks

I mostly ordered take out from here. Excellent value for sushi in the south end /Boston in general. The inside is trendy and nice. Though I never ate there directly and always got take out. In the back, they have a wine /beer shop with excellent offerings from all around the world. The owner /manager is very knowledgable and will help you with your selections. The wait staff is very responsive, and you’ll be able to sit outside in the summer time. The only thing is that the area itself can be a little rough given that Roxbury is only a street or two away. But other than that, it’s one of the best places around for sushi in the south end.

This was my go-to sushi spot for the past 4 years in Boston. Right near my apartment and always prompt with either pick-up or dine-in. Nice atmosphere and good fish. The fish pieces are a little small but that doesn’t deter me from going at least once a week when prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. The wine shop was great; I always ended up stopping by for a last minute gift. The owner was always enthusiastic and friendly, ready to give me recommendations on bottles within my price range. One time I was hurrying out the door and carrying the wine in a bag by the handles. It fell through the bag outside and shattered on the sidewalk. The owner replaced the bottle for free even though it was probably my fault. I will always remember that!

Seiyo is my absolute favorite sushi place in Boston! It is even great for takeout. Not that the atmosphere in the restaurant isn’t great for a date! I love the spicy edamame, spicy tuna roll, and the rainbow roll. I would live at this place if I could

The sushi here is pretty good but nothing special. Good ambiance and friendly staff, casual environment. Short wait and easy to get a table. Skimpy on the fish for nigiri — sliced very thinly and short length, which is unusual for sushi restaurants. We ordered the«party boat», which came with a pleasant variety of nigiri. The sea bass Nigiri was strangely tough and sinewy. The rest of the fish was quite fresh. The sushi rice consistency is good and not too wet or too vinegary. If not for the small size of fish slices, this restaurant could be rated four stars.

Like another reviewer, we were waiting for a table at Toro and was starving so we came here first to grab a bite. We knew we were going to be eating a lot at Toro so we just ordered a large hot sake, beer, grilled hamachi collar, and a roll. The large house sake was HUGE! We had to reheat it because we just couldn’t finish it. Lol. My SO ordered this Japanese beer that was REALLY good… I don’t even normally like beer and I liked this. They also have a large selection of wines! Very interesting… wine and sushi. The hamachi collar was really good! Grilled just right and a good portion. We also ordered another roll, but it was just ok. I like the décor of this place and the chopsticks in the wooden board is pretty cool. However, the prices are a tad high for me so that’s why this place only gets 3 stars…
