Fun Shabu Shabu. The area around Fenway is much nicer than I remembered. I took my sister here for her birthday and it was great choice. Shabu Shabu is not my favorite, but interactive meals are always fun. I found the combos at Swish to be pretty good value. They included veggies, a few meats, and noodles to fill you up. All of the ingredients seemed good quality and fresh and I enjoyed the broths we chose. They have partitioned pots so that you can have more than one broth per table. Service was good and the restaurant seemed very clean and tidy. Great for a fun date or group dinner outing.

We’ve been there twice & that’s only going to be the beginning. It’s a new find for my gf & I, but we hope to become regulars. They are consistently good across the board & they are super vegetarian friendly. Two things that are near & dear to me. The vegetarian dumplings are amazing. And the scallion pancake appetizer is delicious. If you’re in the neighborhood & looking for some good hotpot, I highly recommend it.

Oh my god. So good. I used to be a big fan of Kaze shabu in Chinatown, but their owner changed a few months ago and the food also changed for worse. less portion, no curry broth, etc. Then I found Swish shabu for rescue. The curry broth, kimchi broth, house broth, Malalala broth — all so good. Spicy donkotsu I wasn’t a big fan of, but then again I’m not really a donkotsu person to begin with. Wonton is delicious. Not too loud, smiley and nice services(can be a little slow tho — I’ve seen only 2 ppl serving the entire hall at a time), clean. I just wish they had a coat closet so that the clothing wouldn’t smell so much afterward, but oh well. Otherwise excellent. Been there a few times and def will be going back.

I always struggle with liking shabu shabu places because I know how easy and CHEAP it is to hot pot at home. That said, if you’re feelin’ lazy or just looking for lots of protein after the Spartan like we were, Swish is a good choice. There was a shabu shabu buffet at ~$ 20+ pp so we went with that. We had 5 people and 2 split pots, each with the mala and house broths. The mala one is delicious, the spice really cooks into the meats and veggies so it is flavorful. The house one sort of looks like used bath water and doesn’t taste like much – what do you expect when it’s freeeeee. We ordered a bunch of meat, fish balls, veggies, etc. The quality of the ingredients are really good – everything was super fresh! But smaaall smaaall portions. I get that it’s buffet so you want to minimize waste, but the amount they brought us in the first round was only enough to feed a single small child. Obviously the simple fix is to order more so we just piled on the meat orders, mmmm. Overall if I HAD to go out for shabu shabu, Swish is a really good choice. But if you get a burner for home($ 20) and spent the rest of that $ 120 bill on ingredients you’d have a friggen feast.

Love this place, but today no luck with the pork. Only fat, no meat. We asked the waitress and she said it should be a fatty meat. That is okay, but we got 95% fat! Very disappointed :(

Amazing place to get hot pot! It’s fairly priced and the quality is great. The broth is awesome — try the tom yum soup! The staff is attentive and super friendly. If you’re feeling more than hot pot, they have awesome, fresh sushi and salads. All in all, great place and I’d highly recommend making a trip here.

Love this place! $ 10 bento boxes with a maki roll of your choosing, salad, miso soup, gyozas and fish balls. The sushi is so fresh and good.

We were looking for something nice and warm to eat on a cold night, and shabu shabu sounded good! By 9:00 p.m., the restaurant was less than half full, so we were seated immediately. After ordering and our divided pot was brought to the table, it took a long time for the stove to heat up. We then noticed that steam was only coming off of one side of the pot and was heating it unevenly. Only one side of the pot would boil at a time. Steps for Hot-Pot: 1.) Pick between one and three soup bases — Choose from 14 different ones, ranging from $ 3.00−6.00 2.) Pick your ingredients — Choose a pre-set combination or create your own from the a la carte menu 3.) Add your components — When the soup begins to boil, add your meat and vegetables to cook them 4.) Dip in sauce! Your server will bring you a dipping sauce and some condiments that you can mix in to your liking, including garlic, green onions, daikon, and Chinese BBQ sauce We ordered the House(traditional pork soup) and the Salmon, Cilantro, and Ginger(pieces of salmon in it). For the meat, we got beef and lamb. The quality was good, but there weren’t very many pieces for the price. Each order comes with a plate of vegetables, including lettuce, spinach, corn, carrot, taro, daikon, and wood ear mushroom. You also get a choice of a bowl or rice or udon.

The quality of the meat has been on and off, I usually switch between lamb and beef. It’s been pretty consistent as of late although I will have the occasional fatty cut. But the staff is so attentive and kind, plus the broth and sauce are unbeatable. Still my go to hot pot place.

I love this place. LOVEIT. I live and breathe for hot pot, and swish Shabu certainly delivers. The serving sizes are reasonable, considering the price, and the quality of food is excellent. Our server is always polite and mindful of our water glasses; they will also bring additional condiments upon request. Swish Shabu is a great location to spend a birthday dinner, a casual brunch with friends, or a family outing. Plus, it’s conveniently close to the Regal Fenway movie theater(dinner and movie date, wink wink). Recently, they’ve raised their prices. I’m not happy about it(the portions don’t seem as impressive now), so I can’t give 5⁄5 stars in good faith. Swish Shabu is still a great restaurant, price raise and all! I would absolutely recommend this place.

Couldn’t be happier. $ 20 for surf & turf hot pot — choice of 2 meats, plus scallops, shrimp, salmon, white fish, fish cakes, and all the veggies your heart desires. The spinach was especially delicious. I did the tonkotsu broth and mini-udon noodles, which were great.

Excellent last minute find on our way into Fenway park to see the Foo Fighters. We had the gyoza steamed pork dumplings and veggie spring rolls for appetizers. We had four sushi rolls that were fantastic. Swish, scorpion, crazy & shrimp tempura! Fast & friendly service as well!

Compared to other hot pot restaurants, I think Swish is cleaner. Even their food is more clean cut. Whether this is true or not, I feel like there’s less msg in their food. When I crave vegetables, this is normally the place I go to replenish.

This is a great little place! I come here often but have never written a review. The food is always great, service is sometimes a little slow but this was not the case when I came yesterday. Service was great! Their hot pot is good but the unsung hero of this place is their sushi! It’s great! Also their cash specials are a steal just be sure to have enough for the whole bill!

The hot pot option is okay/good. I agree with the other reviews that the ingredients are always fresh, semi-seasonal and the broth choices have a depth of flavor and a nice level of spice. I do wish there was a low-sodium broth option though. Their pan-fried gyoza were flavorful, well-seasoned and came with a great chili dipping sauce. The shumai dumplings were slightly gummy and lacked real shrimp flavor, however, again the chili sauce was great. I tried their sushi which I thought was horrible and a rip off. I ordered the Spider«big roll» which had very little filling, was mostly rice and over-priced for only 6 pieces. Service is always friendly here and very quick.

When I first started coming here I loved it, but since eating at other hot pot places I’ve found this place isn’t as great as I had thought. I’ve never tried the other items on the menu like the sushi or the udon, so all I can speak for is the hot pot option. Compared to other places this is pretty pricey for the quality and quantity. I’ve been here with another person and we wound up spending about 60 dollars and still left hungry. There’s nothing particularly wrong with this place, it’s just average. The servers are helpful, and will answer any questions you have, but I find the portions very small. The combos are 10 $ and up, they come with a plate of vegetables, but there isn’t a lot of either the vegetables or meat. Noodles even cost extra. The sauces are nice and give your meal some kick, but that’s probably the highlight of the hot pot, which is pretty sad. They do have some good broth choices, but more than 4 $ for anything that isn’t the house broth seems a bit steep. The hot pot just isn’t good enough in my opinion for the prices they’re charging. I’ll check this place out again, but for their other menu items. I think I’m done with the hot pot.

I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner and I was not disappointed. I had only had hot pot one time before and I didn’t really remember the previous experience I had. Our waiter was so nice and helpful. We ordered two combs. One seafood platter combo and one meat combo(beef and lamb) each coming with your choice of noodles or rice and then an assortment of veggies. In addition we order two different broths to cook our food in, vegetarian and the cilantro and duck egg broth. Both so delicious! The food came out quickly and was fun to cook and eat. I had a great experience and would definitely return and recommend it to my friends.

A friend of mine took me to Swish Shabu on a recent trip to the Boston area. I had had hot pot before(Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot), but she assured me that this would be different. She was right. First of all, Swish Shabu offers a lot of variety when it comes to the different bases for your hot pot. With the exception of the vegetarian broth, all of the bases are variations of their house pork soup — very good. My friend went with the vegetarian version of the Malalalala — a very spicy broth with a light flavor. I went with the pork-based Tom Yum, a sweet and spicy Thai broth. They were both very good. For the entrees(to cook in the hot pot), I went with the beef combo and my friend went with the vegetarian combo. We were presented with HUGE plates of goodness, ready to be dropped into the steamy broth. TIP: I know you’re hungry, but don’t dump everything in the broth at once. Pace yourself! You’re here for both the food and the experience. Enjoy it! The cuts of beef came with assorted beef and a choice of starch — I went with ramen noodles. Delicious! But be careful, you can fill up fast on the starch and won’t have room to finish everything on your plate. All in all, it was a wonderful dining experience. If you go, don’t rush. Allow yourself a good two hours to enjoy your meal and your company!

Came here for lunch since my friend was really craving it and apparently, there are no shabu places in Chicago. We both ordered the lunch special. When it first came, I thought the portions were too small and that I’d still be hungry after. However, it was just the right amount. I ordered one of the beef combos with vermicelli with kimchi soup base. I would prefer if there were more variety of vegetables. It also didn’t come with any tofu so we ordered that on the side. The soup base was good, but not memorable. I like that they gave you a side of chili and garlic though. Overall the meal was ok, but it just doesn’t quite meet my shabu cravings…

I’ve been dreading to have to write this review because I’m a little upset about my last dining experience here. This was my 3rd visit here. I go back because I like the food. I was enjoying my lunch as I usually do when I’m here. My coworker reached over to grab some vegetable off my plate to put in the broth. As she picked it up I could hear the sound of disgust in her voice I looked at my plate and what do I see… A bug just laying there dead on my plate. The bug could have been on the plate before the vegetables were placed on it our the bug could have on the vegetables before going on the plate. It’s very obvious that the person was not paying attention to properly uphold the standards of the kitchen. I really wanted to give them 2 stars but the waitress was great and she’s the only reason I’m giving them 3. The manager took my meal off the bill which was greatly appreciated. Listen I know things happen and I know we take a risk every time we eat out. With that said I’m not sure when I’ll be back at Swish Shabu. Which I’m really sad about because I really like the Japanese curry broth.
