I had a strange issue in my kitchen where some appliances weren’t working and others would only turn on if others were also on, but everything sounded like it was dying. It happened suddenly, and the GFCI outlet light changed color, so I was worried that something had shorted out. I called about 6 electricians, 4 of whom answered the phone but had no availability for like a week. Steve from Sylvia called me back within the hour, asked more about the problem(the only guy to do so!), and decided that he could fit me in between other stops later that day. He found that indeed a neutral wire had arced, burned nearby wires, and then snapped, inside the main panel. This had also caused the GFCI outlet to melt a bit and totally malfunction. He fixed everything in about 90 minutes, told me what to watch for in case it was caused by a loading issue on that circuit, and charged me a very reasonable price — $ 150 plus $ 20 for the new GFCI outlet. Plus, he was super nice, my 3-year-old really took to him, and we had an interesting conversation about the source of the problem(I know a bit about wiring, and I really wanted to understand what was going on), strange fruits on my counter, food in general, and several other topics. He reminds me of my favorite uncle. Overall I am very happy with the work and service, and would not hesitate to recommend Steve to others.

I found Sylvia Electrical Contracting through a Google search. I am amazed first by how quick to respond Sylvia electrical Contracting was. I sent them an email explaining my problems and within 10 min I got a phone call. I had called several electricians and the earliest I could get a person to evaluate my electrical issues was in 24hrs. I spoke with Steve who seemed very experienced. He knew exactly what the problem was, and suggested that contacting National Grid was my first step. I told him I had tried, but that they had failed to check out the problem. Steve told me he would contact them, and if the problem persisted to call him back. National Grid came within hours. It took them 7 hours to fix our problem(for free as it was one leg of the line to our home). Thank you Steve! I wish there were more honest and caring people like you out there. We will be sure to contact you in the future.
