Fun night out! This place is great! The tapas were so delicious and the staff is so nice! We had 3 people in our party ordered a plater and 3 tapas and it was the perfect amount of food. We also had some drinks the ginger cocktail is so delicious.

Good food! We ordered patatas bravas, sauteed spinach with pine nuts and raisins, lemon pasta with pesto, and broccoli/cauliflower fritters — everything was tasty! plates brought out as they were ready, which we liked. good bread and hummus was brought out with our drinks which was delicious good free bread. Berry sangria was great. $ 50 for 2 drinks and 4 tapas. I would say the tapas and bread were enough to fill us, but not stuff us. We’re 2 smaller women in our 20’s. So, it would not have been enough food for, say, my boyfriend. The server had recommendations ready, as neither of us had been there before. prompt and friendly service. appreciated them seating us upstairs, was a nice private corner. Décor was nice, fireplace upstairs was going, bar downstairs is not my taste style wise, and bar is very small. only has about 8 – 10 seats, felt tight. Coat rack by the door is a plus with big winter coats.

I’ve passed by this place a few times but always opted for other tapas places since the rating was a little lower than some other well known tapas places around town. Now I wish I had come here sooner ! The place was very cute, not exclusively romantic but with just enough intimacy for a date night. The tapas portion were also on point. We had the gambas al ajillo and I was sad when the waitstaff took it away when we were done … I could have another another whole plate of bread with that garlic oil!(and the bread is complementary with tasty hummus). We also had the solemillo which was also a decent size, as well as the broccoli and cauliflower fritters. That was my least favorite of the three but I would still recommend it, based on the subtly spicy mayo sauce it came with. Overall, pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to come again to try more !

I can’t properly explain how delectable the food at Tapeo is. We went here after being rejected by Select, and it was not a cast-off at all. We had a few things, but the Queso Con Miel stood out — when I think of ambrosia(you know, food of the gods — totally learned that by watching Xena circa 1996), I imagine that it tastes like queso con miel. Everything was savory and scrumptious and worth moaning over inappropriately at the table. I would especially recommend going on a chilly New England night — Tapeo’s divine delights will warm you right up and turn your night around.

Food: 2.5 Service: 4 Value: 1 Tapeo is a premium tapas place on Newbury Street. Premium prices, mediocre dishes, failed paella, but good service and atmosphere. This review is for Friday night — prime time, so they should be on their A-game. The meal started off with bread and whipped butter+hummus spread. For an upscale tapas place, stale, cold bread on a Friday night is not OK. The bread should be fresh and warm. It’s not hard. For tapas, the garlic, sizzling shrimp was quite good, but many other dishes were mediocre, such as the french fries(too greasy) and ceviche(not tart enough), and a few were poor(e.g. the omelet — just bad). The most unfortunate dish was the Paella. I’ve had my share of Paellas in Spain, and this was an embarrassment. Does burnt char appetize you? Our paella was clearly left abandoned on the stove and developed a thick burned layer that mixed with the food when eaten. The dish(quoted as serves 1 – 3 people and priced at over 40 dollars) was smaller than an average dinner plate at home. I would call it 0.75 servings. One of the best parts of a good Paella is the massive spread of rice, seafood and veggies that could feed a family. In fact, that’s an integral part of the experience. These guys skimped on size to drive more tapas purchases, and it ruins the paella on just this alone. The paella was too salty, had a soupy composition which was not like the paellas in spain and I don’t think it worked too well here. The service was very good. Very nice atmosphere with just the right feel. Our waitress was very nice. For a top dollar place, I would have expected slightly better, but basically it was totally fine. The value: Tapas are small dishes, I get that. For $ 10 – 15 for 3 small cheesy breads, and $ 40 for a half serving of paella, I expected better. I know the rent on Newbury street is high, but sending people home relieved of the weight of their wallet and with ample space in their stomach is not a winning business model.

Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4 Overall: Great place in Boston for sharing tapas with friends. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and a wide selection of food. Food: Tapas are delicious, especially the meats, the duck leg, seared chicken breast, and lamb chops in particular. The meats were juicy, seasoned, and full of flavor. Service: Service is great. Ambience is classy but not stuffy. Value: Prices are somewhat high given the serving sizes, but the quality is great so I can’t complain too much.

This place just screams girls’ night out. Great sangria(the sparkling is my favorite, it’s mango flavored and not too sweet). The food is usually great, I’ve tried a lot of great dishes and some that were not so great. The fried goat cheese is good, the sizzling garlic shrimp are a must try. The paella is great and very flavorful. I’ve been here at least 5 times and each time I leave feeling like it costs about 20% more than it should be, but I think that’s the standard Newbury street surcharge. I like to take out of town guests here because it’s a great place to share food and has a trendy but festive atmosphere.

Wanted to go to a new place on newbury with outdoor seating after work on Friday. Had heard about this place so decided to check it out. Good service, attentive. Food was pretty good. Not a big fan of goat cheese but the queso con miel was delicious. Try it spread on bread! Beef with chimichurri sauce was good, beef was tender. Calamari was a little salty and the sauce a little too strong but good overall. Sizzling shrimp in garlic, can’t go wrong. Lamb meatballs were ok, didn’t really expect the taste of the sauce. Little pricey, came out to about $ 55. Tl;dr — good place to check out if you like tapas. Tascas is better but good for newbury/outdoor seating.

I’m usually not a huge tapas fan, but this place did it right. A little pricey but that comes with being on newbury. We got the calamari, queso con miel, lamb meatballs, sizzling garlic shrimp and a beef dish and everything was really good; The queso con miel especially. All the servings were definitely on the smaller size except for the calamari, but with the bread and the five dishes, we were both very full. The bill came out to around $ 30 pp including tip which is around par for newbury. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend

Recently returned to Tapeo to give it a second chance. No paella this time — we were sticking to tapas. The menu looked good — plenty of items sounded tasty in a variety of styles and budgets. We got a recommendation on the number of tapas to order and set to work deciding(admittedly, after first ordering a pitcher of sangria. Yum). The broccoli & cauliflower dish was so delicious, as was the tortilla espagnola. The goat cheese stuffed prunes wrapped in bacon were exactly as you’d expect. Overall, Tapeo redeemed itself. Food was good, the prices were ok, and nothing came out charred like last time(see Paella review!).

Fried goat cheese, those three words are all that matter. Order those to give your taste buds an orgasm. Great location, lots of people watching and yet comfy to enjoy the cute patio.

Excessive noms were to be had at Tapeo. Nan and I came here for some tapas fun on a Thursday night. I showed up early to snag a table upstairs on the lovely patio and enjoyed a crisp glass of sauvignon blanc downstairs while i waited. Roughly 20 min later I was seated upstairs and alerted to the fact that there was a 4 tapas minimum on the patio. Trick, please. This girl can eat. Eat we did. It was really hard to refrain from asking that they just bring us the whole menu, but we managed to reign it in. We tried a variety of tapas – the sizzling garlic shrimp, ceviche, the artichoke, mushroom and goat crostini(a star for me since i hate mushrooms but thoroughly housed this little morsel), the calamari, and the beef tenderloin. All were terrific. Service was pretty on point, especially since we had a server in training… but he quickly caught on to the fact that I have a penchant for drinking and kept the wine coming so, really, no complaints here. A delightful evening!

This place is fine… Nothing spectacular or memorable. The spinach dish was fresh spinach which was nice and the cheese with honey was good. The sangria was sweet(and they couldn’t transfer or bar bill to our dinner table which was odd since they told us to wait at the bar). The ambience was odd-super bright overhead lighting until we asked them to turn it down. The waiter was fine. The hostesses looked confused when we asked for a table and took a few minutes to get their bearings. The bartender was actually the friendliest of the staff. With so many tapas joints in town, I’d recommend Barcelona for a similar price point – though you need a resi there and Tapeo took us as walk ins.

Tapas y caipirinhas! What better way to spend a warm spring evening? The patio wasn’t open but we sat inside so it was all good. Tapas: Patatas Bravas, Solomillo con chimichurri, empanadas and Pollo Al Ajillo. Roasted seasoned potatoes with aioli, beef tenderloin with chimichurri, chicken empanadas, and garlic chicken thighs in a sweet and sour sauce. The potatoes were scrumptious and I loved the aioli. Tenderloins were tender and tasty… loved the chimichurri. Empanadas were toasty and yummy and the chicken thighs were the best ever. The tamarind sauce on the chicken was something I wasn’t expecting. If my tastebuds are wrong and that was not tamarind, I apologize in advance. But I swear it was tamarind… being Caribbean American allows one to recognize these things. We were impressed with all of our choices, and we found nothing that was lacking. Service was prompt and attentive and I also found out the owner of the restaurant also owns Solea in Waltham. Caipirinhas were very very much needed on a Monday evening and they delivered well. First sip and I was in caipirinha heaven…

Came here for restaurant week, and it is NOT worth it. For $ 33 a person, you would think that the food would be great. The apps(ceviche and calamari were the best out of our dishes). The shrimp lacked flavor. Mussels were good but something was missing to make it really good. Garlic chicken thighs just seemed like they threw a thick sauce over it. Fried tilapia wasn’t impressive. Dessert was not great. Waitress was the only person handling a huge section of tables and didn’t give us the proper attention we need during our dish transitions. Didn’t feel or taste amazing for me to come back again. Def not for restaurant week. I should’ve paid the extra $ 5 to go to Mistral or Cap Grille, or spent the $ 33 on a better tapas restaurant.

We came here with a large party of 8 and ordered tons of food. My favorites were the fried goat cheese with honey and the gorditas! I also loved both the patatas(bravas and fritas) tapas. Other plates like Crab and lobster ravioli was meh as was shrimp tapas. Great cocktails swayed my decision to go from 3 to 4 stars. The décor, gorgeous copper tiles, and location helped a bit too :)

Last night, my friend and I dined at Tapeo. We ordered the following: [Drinks] Cava(Sparkling) Sangria The Cava Sangria was light and refreshing. It was garnished with orange slice and cherry. [Tapas] 1. Ensalada Mixta(Mixed Greens, Hearts of Palm, Beets, Sherry Vinaigrette) I loved the salad! All of the ingredients were fresh. The hearts of palm were sliced and resembled coins. The beets were roasted and shredded. I loved how the sherry vinaigrette was sweet and not that tart. 2. Tortilla Española(Egg, Potato & Onion Omelette, Crème Fraiche) The egg, potato, and onion omelette was served by the slice and came with Crème Fraiche on the side. It was kind of savory. 3. Gambas al Ajillo(Sizzling Garlic Shrimp) I loved this dish. The first time I’ve seen a sizzling dish(usually see sizzling pan). Baby shrimps were cooked in strong garlicky butter and served on sizzling dish. 4. Ravioles de Mariscos(Lobster & Crab Ravioli in Langostino Sauce) The dish came with five raviolis, which were stuffed with lobster and crabmeat without fillers or cheese and served in Langostino Sauce. 5. Pollo al Ajillo(Garlicky Chicken Thighs, Sweet & Sour Sauce The Garlicky Chicken Thighs was my favorite dish of the evening. The dish came with three tender chicken thighs and served in a sweet, sour, and spicy sauce. 6. Empanada — Beef Turnover It was one of the best Beef Empanada I’ve ever had. It was a crispy, crescent shaped, pastry that was stuffed with minced beef. 7. Costillitas de Vaca — Braised Short Ribs, Rioja Wine Sauce It was quite flavorful. However, I was disappointed that not as tender as I expected it to be. It was rather overcooked, tough, and chewy. It was served with diced carrots, tomatoes, and onions in a dark reddish-brown wine sauce.

Delicious — a wonderful spot to relax in the middle of a Newbury St. shopping day and you can get $ 5 tapas at the bar! This is so far my favorite tapas restaurant in Boston, though it has not yet haunted my dreams, so only two stars for now. — Sizzling shrimp — delicious, tender yet crunchy, and the garlic is addictive. — Scallops in saffron cream — delicious sauce that goes well with the scallops(and the bread too!). I wish the scallops were a little heartier — the pieces were small. — Garlicky chicken — I love this dish, though it is a bit sour from the sauce, so opinions could vary. The meat is extremely tender and soaks in the flavor well. — Sautéed spinach — a bit more oily than I’d like but the pine nuts add great depth to the flavor. — Chorizo — this was just okay for me. I prefer juicier, heartier chorizos. — Sangria royale — the taste is a bit potent, but it tastes legitimate. Overall, solidly delicious food and a welcome spot on Newbury st!

This restaurant has some good vegetarian options: My favorite are: 1. Queso de Cabra Montanes 2. Patatas Bravas(may have mayonnaise and thus may contain eggs) 3. Arroz y Habas They had a cool soft tortilla wrappen around vegetables, don’t know the name, but it’s really good.

For every hour that goes by since my dinner at Tapeo last night in which I can still taste my dinner(after brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth twice), this review will get less and less enthusiastic. So, before I dip below the significantly deserved 5 stars, allow me to carry on. What a great spot. Right on Newbury, in the middle of everything-this restaurant is certainly among the top five I’ve visited in Boston. Everything works. The décor, the service, the outdoor seating for extensive people watching and, of course, the food. Oh, and the sangria. Yeah, really, the sangria. I’ve had the red and the cava and both are incredible. The pitchers don’t go very far, pitcher may be a bit of an exaggeration as far as their menu is concerned, but the product is exquisite-so it’s hard to care about such discrepancies. The food is magical. We opted to feast on a multitude of tapas(they recommend two choices per # in your party and it was the perfect amount). Everything was impeccably made and served. The saffron battered shrimp, lobster/crab ravioli and cauliflower puffs are indescribably delicious. Above all other things, Tapeo contains the one dish I would choose as my last meal on earth-queso con miel-goat cheese with honey & sweet onion. Even the waitress sighed with pleasure when we ordered that one. BUT consider yourself warned: GARLIC. For Days.
