I wanted some authentic Shepards pie and I found it in the Southie of Boston. Very laid back bar and friendly service hope to return again.

Always a delicious burger at the Junction. I have yet to be disappointed, here. Pleasant servers, great atmosphere!

We came here after having spent the night bowling, and were looking for a few drinks before heading home. It’s pretty small with a central rectangular bar, and has a small area in the back corner that can host a live band. The food was pretty standard– we ordered some chips with a cheese dip that came quickly and satisfied all. Don’t read into this too much, we’re not talking smoked Gruyère with a fennel salad and crispy polenta. The bottled beer selection is pretty good, definitely on par with the surrounding bars. The draft selection is definitely above average. They have a mix of specialty cocktails as well; two of our party ordered these seemed to enjoy them. The crowd here is also a good mix of the locals and the younger yuppie crowd. The Junction is a good place to go when you don’t feel like being surrounded by over caffeinated twenty somethings or too many of the experienced locals. It’s also relatively small and easy to maneuver a drink order. I’d definitely stop in here again.

Great staff, live music on the weekends. Terrific food! unlike most bars in the southie area, laid back and down-to-earth– atmostphere!

We have found the food, drinks, and service are always excellent at the Junction and all the staff are so nice. The steak tips are broiled to perfection and the fish can be ordered whatever way I like, sometimes broiled, other times baked or deep fried in a batter. Can’t find a better place to have to have bite to eat in South Boston.

It’s good but not great. The old 50% off menu was better, this menu feels overpriced. All our favorite bartenders have moved on, but the new bartenders seem nice. It was one of my favorites and now it is just another bar in Southie. Location is great for bar hopping.

Get the patty melt! Let’s just say that first off! I love this place… Great beers, excellent staff, great pub food, what more could you ask for? Seriously, it’s a great pub with good food and a great staff. I like it, it’s comfortable here. But once again, the last and best piece of advice I’m going to give you is to get the patty melt!

Fun place to hang out. They have the best margaritas! The servers and bartender are very friendly.

It’s a chill spot for drinks. They got rid of the half off food so now it’s a little overpriced for what it is considering Lincoln is nearby at similar prices. If they brought it back, would be a 4+ star spot.

Food: 5⁄5 Stars Service: 5⁄5 Stars Ambience: 5⁄5 Stars Visited: Tuesday Night(During Playoff Hockey Game) Seating: I was visiting from San Diego. Tried a few places nearby and they were standing room only. This was full too except I was able to find 1 seat at the bar. Crowd: Place was noisy and that was expected as were other places due to Boston Bruins NHL playoff game. I was planning to eat and wait for the Chicago Blackhawks game(my team). Loud crowd with a few groups doing shots but everyone was respectful and cool. Nobody talking trash or trying to start anything. Bar tending: I was acknowledged promptly and received every drink promptly. I ordered the Steak Tips and answered«medium» when asked. This came out excellent. This is some of the best steak I’ve ever had prepared. The level and cook and seasoning was great. Green beans and Fries that were also great. I will definitely return on any future trips to Boston and would recommend to any friends visiting.

Would’ve gone 4 stars but it’s a little stale-beer stanky in there. But, awesome burgers. Loaded mine up with a la carte items. Came out perfect. Thought it was a bit pricey until I learned it was 50% off if you have a drink or two. Service was great, waitresses cute and friendly. Liked it!

Really disappointed with the change in menu and prices. Junction was a great place to get decent food at a fair price. They always had their 50% off special if you were drinking. Well in mid march the owner(or mgmt) decided to change the menu and raise prices at nearly 50% for most items and at exactly 50% for some. What was 6 is now 9, what was $ 11 is now $ 16. They kept their 50% «special» but prices after discount are essentially the same as comparable local pubs. Just get rid of the fake discount. Also to change a side was $ 1 and now $ 3. FYI the menu language is a joke now–«Smoked bacon» is actually bacon bits! Terrible that they really stuck it to their loyal customers– terrible business idea.

I wondered why everyone around southie avoided this place. After tonight, I completely understand. Junction has potential to be a great bar, but there is no management. We have never been treated so poorly as we have tonight. Paul, the manager on staff, would not give his last name was clueless on how to run a business. We will never go back.

We were all pleasantly surprised by this place. After passing by a number of absolutely jammed bars nearby(on account of the Pats-‘Phins game), we decided to give the Junction a shot. We were greeted quickly, and the server/hostess helped us rearrange the tables to best accommodate our party of 6 within sight of the TV. We ordered up a round of beers and then the Crown Royal girls came by with free drinks samples of Crown Maple(not great, but they were free!). Appetizers were solid — hearty bruschetta and a creamy spinach & artichoke dip. I opted for a lighter lunch of just fine French onion soup and a pretty robust side salad w/balsamic. I wish I had opted for a burger though — they looked amazing! My boyfriend also lucked out with the Shepherd’s Pie, which was fantastically warming and delicious. If I ever find myself back in Southie, I will definitely be ordering that. All in all, a low-key game-viewing environment where fans of the opposing team seem to receive fewer death stares than usual.

How this bar does not have an average of 5 stars just blows my mind. Yes, I’m a sucker for a gimmick, and The Junction has succeeded in winning me over with their 50% off menu. Yes, everything on the menu(excluding the booze) is 50% off –with the purchase of a alcoholic beverage, which they don’t note however— but really — why would you go into a Southie bar and not get an alcoholic beverage? I feel like I need an alcoholic beverage just to walk back through Southie to get home. Food — 5 stars. Great food at 50% off?! I’d pay 100% for the food I get there. I can honestly say that the turkey burger there is probably the best I’ve ever had. I even tell my roommate all about it every time I get it(and I’m sure she’s sick of hearing about it), but I feel it’s my job to spread the word of The Junction to non-believers. The wait staff is always so friendly and accommodating. You need to remember that is in fact a bar/restaurant, so they are busy waiting on bar patrons and eying all the tables at the same time. It’s not the quickest service, but it’s definitely appropriate service. Tip them well, they do it all there! Mind you, it is a bar still — so it can get relatively loud in there. I have had to shout a few times at friends to be engaged in a causual conversations. But to my benefit I’d rather eat, drink, and be merry, then to talk to some of my pain in the butt friends anyway — so it’s a win-win. There’s always something going on — trivia, live music, and generous plates of half-off goodness. I brought my out-of-town friends here, my parents, and and a date. It’s my favorite go-to. Oh 50% off… you got me… you got me good.

On my first visit to Junction, I convinced the sweet bartender to keep the bar open an hour past(absurdly early) closing time of 1 am. On my second and on visits, I’ve always enjoyed cold beers, good times with friends, and games of photo hunt. On my last two visits, there was live music(for free!) and lots of people(good for eye candy, not best for getting drinks). On Saturday, we convinced the doorman to let us in at 12:30 am when he said they were«closed for the night.» The photo hunt machine being broken almost nailed the coffin in the evening but the aggressive and funny blond dude who befriended me rescued it. You want a local and comfortable bar where you can go to enjoy yourself or have a drink and hang by the bar — go to The Junction. Until next time Southie…

This is a good place if you’re looking for a local bar and good bar food. They had quality music playing. The staff was friendly and attentive. I plunked myself down at the bar the other night for some dinner and two write away in my journal. There were only a few people when I got there, but it started to fill in more and more as it got dark. It felt like a locals kind of place where the staff and customers had clearly met before. They had an enormous selection of beer, and I was thrilled to get some Fin du Monde beer. I really liked the alcoholic quotes up on the wall above the bar. There was one about how this guy thought about not drinking, but then he thought about all the people who he wouldn’t be supporting in the beer industry… I had an a-ok veggie burger with some spicy mayo for my fries. I’d definitely go back again.

I’d like to take the opportunity to announce The Junction is the winner!!! This is the winning spot as my favorite bar scene in Southie… Less clubby(and crowded!) than Beer Garden, Playwright and Shennanigans… More young people in key fun seeking demographics than the straight up dives. Any night of the week is the best night of the week to spend an evening at The Junction.

I never thought I would say this, but the Junction boasts a burly burger and a sick sick Monday night staff — solo(when you don’t warn them) and adroit — to boot. The burly burger club arrived with 16 hungry meaters on a random Monday night(with no warning) and the Junction’s one bartender, waiter, and I swear he cooked the burgers as well, was unbelievably efficient and amazing. Our orders are always across the board(med rare to overdone; classic toppings to bacon, chedder, and mushroom BBQ), but the chef did a great job to keep it straight. The burger itself was a ½ pound hunk-o-meat sandwiched in a bulky roll. The Junction has a ton of toppings to choose from at what I’m positive was at no additional charge. The bun, a sesame roll, which cradled the burger and absorbed its juices quite nicely. My only qualm was that a ½-lb of meat is just a leeeeetle too much for my tummy to handle, even on an empty stomach(well, that could have been my problem). All-in-all, way to go, The Junction! You have surprised the burly burger club with your tasty bar staple.
