First time here… came all the way from Maple Valley to have the Ultimate Burger(60% ground chuck, 40% ground bacon with Applewood smoked bacon and Canadian bacon). The burger, fries and French press coffee were all very good. If in the area I would have it again. The service on Father’s Day was mixed. Arrived and wanted to sit in the restaurant and not the bar… just my wife and I. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait or we could sit in the bar where there was open seating and the same menu. There were a total of 6 groups of people in the restaurant and well over half of the restaurant was empty, so not sure why the wait? Restroom was fairly clean, but did not have any paper towels to dry my hands. The wait staff however, was friendly, responsive and overall pretty good.

The food quality here is great– it is modern comfort food. It is nice that this is a locally owned establishment. The beers are brewed on site and are full of flavor, served chilled and a decent value. The biggest issue here is still the noise– they say they have installed sound ceiling tiles but they do not help. I hope that the owner is able to recover some losses from the construction company as they clearly designed a horrible building design– it is so loud that you can not even talk to the person next to you(it is not just loud but bring your ear plugs loud).

I’ve always had a good experience here, and occasionally great. The gastropub menu has a lot to choose from(burgers, pizza, sausages, salads, sandwiches) and the quality is consistently good. I’ve tried many new-to-me cocktails from their featured drinks and only had one that was meh. The beer is acceptable — nothing special, but certainly drinkable. The outdoor seating is pleasant and facing the uphill side of the building so it’s relatively quiet. The overall dining area is huge and sometimes there can be long waits between server visits, but so far it hasn’t got in the way of enjoying the experience.

This place is awesome. I got here often, maybe to often? The food is great and the rotating«specials» menu always has something new and great. The bar atmosphere is a lot of fun and the crowd is usually pretty laid back. The service staff is awesome and we rarely have to wait very long for food. It can get pretty busy, but since they put the noise damping panels in the noise isn’t bad. Highly recommend eating here!

My fandom for John Howie restaurants has long been established(check out my reviews/check-ins of/at Seastar and his namesake steak house if you need further proof). Beardslee Public House will do nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for his dining establishments. While it’s not on the level of Seastar or John Howie Steak(though it’s really obvious it’s targeted to a much different crowd [the non Centurion Card holders]) don’t let that dissuade you, the food is really good. I like to build my own burger when I’m here and it’s always delicious. Lots of options, so craft whatever your heart desires. Also, be sure to order the onion rings, they are some of the best in the area. Happy hour gets busy, and for good reason. They offer lots of different food options, all for a very(if not underpriced) price. Overall, Beardslee executes what it’s trying to accomplish on a very high level and is for sure worth a trip next time you’re on the Eastside.

Since a family friend was visiting, my family and I decided to take him out to a fairly new restaurant that we had seen in the area, aka the Beardslee Public House. We had no idea about what the service, food, or setting would be like. The restaurant itself was fairly nice. The food was not bad but not amazing. However, the service was unsatisfactory. The server completely forgot about our appetizers and we got them after our entrees. It is likely that we wouldn’t have received our appetizers at all if we hadn’t asked about where they were or when they were coming. The server also did not check in on us during our meal and was not very helpful when we were choosing our entrees. His knowledge of the menu was minimal and he looked completely distracted the entire time. After about 20 minutes, we asked another waiter to check in on our appetizers. He brought them for us and they were refrigerator cold. Thankfully, he told us that he would deduct the appetizers from our bill because they weren’t delivered on time. Overall, the restaurant was sadly not«impressing a family friend» worthy. However, I think the restaurant has great potential. The food is not bad at all. However, the service really needs to up its game.

First, I am an absolute fan of John Howie Steak and Seastar, which is why I decided to try out Beardslee Public House. I would like to say that it was incredible and fantastic and the best thing since sliced bread, but I can’t bring myself to do that. It was ok. Okay to the point that I am glad that I tried it but I doubt that I will ever go again. I arrived with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was good, the place was moderately busy but not extremely busy. As I approached the podium to get seating the hostess told us the bar was open seating and then went to talk with her fellow hostess. There was no hello, no greeting of any kind, or even an offer to see if we wanted to sit in the bar. As we were hungry we went and looked around for a table finding one in the corner by some windows. It was not a great seat because not only was it by an elevator that I did not notice until we had sat down, but also the sun was particularly blinding at that location. Our waitress was nice, but overly enthusiastic. She was the polar opposite of the disinterested hostess and was all too suffocating. Every couple minutes she would come by and ask if we had any questions about the menu, the food, our drinks, or anything else. It was a bit overbearing. I found that I was quickly exhausted between the sun and her ever present shadow. The food was good. I ordered a cheeseburger. My friend ordered the bacon burger. The fries were hand cut fries which I particularly don’t care for, but I know people who love them. The spicy pear kamikaze that I ordered was the worst spicy pear kamikaze I had among the various John Howie restaurants. The bartender coated the glass with a thick layer of cinnamon which kinda looked like it was dropped in the cinnamon and then picked back up instead of simply the rim of the glass. The spice was a bit much and the alcohol a bit on the light side. I wasn’t impressed. We paid our bill and went on our way. It could have been that they were having an off day, but I don’t think I would return.

This place is great! We went on a Saturday so it was quite busy(but only about a 25 min wait). The pizza itself was okay. I had the Zuccini and Chevre pizza which was a little bland however with their homemade ranch dressing, it is absolutely delicious. I never ever dip my pizza in ranch but my boyfriend always does, so when he ordered a side of ranch and couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was, I couldn’t resist. So if you go there, you HAVE to try their homemade ranch. It’s hard to find a ranch equally as good! The beer(I had the Widow Maker Wit) was also great! They advertise it as Belgian style and it definitely is! Check this place out if you want great beer, great food, and an airy atmosphere!

Let’s start with the food, because that is the only slightly redeeming aspect that bumps it up to 3 stars. The food is good, pretty typical bar fare — do try the meat candy though, I’d return for that alone. My husband(who is much more of a burger snob than I) insists that the burger patties tasted frozen and not fresh. Beer was tasty. I’d come back for a growler fill. Now onto the service… or lack there of. Our large party arrived at 5:00pm and our food did not arrive at our table until 6:10pm. An hour and 10 minutes later?! Was the food good enough to warrant that kind of wait? Me thinks not. We all sat and decided what we wanted to drink and eat, and still, no one had even come to greet our table. After flagging down the host, our server finally comes over with no apology, and a slightly dazed and confused, «So, can I start anyone off with anything to drink?» NOPE. we’re ready to ORDER. So all 13 orders(5 of which were hungry children) have been placed and after about what seemed like forever, our drinks finally arrive(you’d think they were soaking the hops and waiting for the beer to ferment!), followed by a few appetizers. I spoke to the host shortly before our food FINALLY arrived and after that, our server seemed to be very attentive. Attentive, except for the fact that he’d ask, «Can I get anyone anything else?» and when asked for another beer, or drink, or sauce — he’d visibly write it down on his notepad and never return with anything! The manager did take 20% off our bill(though I made it very clear, I was not after any kind of freebie or discount… rather, his servers should be entering their orders immediately), which basically meant that he took off the required 18% tip that large tables are charged.

Awesome place. After looking at all the nice reviews, I wanted to try this place. First off, I want to say it’s awesome because they do EVERYTHING(except the cider) in house. That alone deserves kudos. On top of that, the food was great. The lady and I decided to share the beer sampler, Pretzels, Chicken and Garlic sausage, and their special fries. Beer was on point! We did 3 and 3 choices, I picked Sasquatch, ESB, and the Belgian Tripel. The lady chose the Widow Maker, Pale Ale, and the Blonde. My favorite was the Belgian(biased) but all of them were pretty tasty. The Tripel is probably one of the better tasting Belgian’s I had in awhile. Pretzels were nice and toasty on the outside and soft and light in the inside. Their dipping sauces were delish as well, especially the gouda… daaang! We weren’t too fond of the honey butter, but it wasn’t terrible. Just a little sweet. Besides, if there’s cheese to dip, nothing else matters. The sausage was on point as well. It had a nice«snap» and excellent flavor to it. It also had some gouda on it. Would definitely order it again. The fries! Nice cut, fresh, and with gouda cheese sauce with some dried onion. Yum… I will definitely come back to try their other food because it was super goud-a. (Maybe next time I will ask them if I could have a side of their gouda…)

Monday night and it’s surprisingly busy. Seated immediately in the bar area. I had high expectations given this is a John Howie restaurant. They feature«high-quality made from scratch comfort cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients». In addition, everything is made in house: restaurant grinds its own meat, bakes its own bread, cured meats in specialized charcuterie kitchen. Great relaxing ambiance in the bar area. Noise level is typical of a bar. Would have liked to have tried their chicken liver pâté, but this is only available during happy hour. Beer flight: always my choice to try all! Tough choice but enjoyed the full range. Kale, red cabbage, carrot salad: delicious. Kale wasn’t as chewy as I’d expected. Note that this salad has red onion. This might be a consideration for some ;p American wagyu ½ pound: Mishima ranch American wagyu beef, house baked potato roll, lettuce, tomato, Beardsley smoky burger spread. Served with fresh cut fries(choice of cole slaw or potato salad as well): wow! Meat was flavorful and tender, each bite was a perfect symphony of flavors. I’ve already decided I must return for more! Will also be back for happy hour to savor their other interesting items: green leaf IPA-jalapeño hummus, stout infused deviled eggs and charcuterie! And of course, their other beers! Service: friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to be back.

I came here last night for a friends birthday, and really really enjoyed it. I asked if I could order the pâté separate from the charcuterie, and they very nicely obliged. Their pâté with cherries was amazing! I totally loved it, and it was totally worth the $ 5 for it(actually that’s a pretty good deal). I also had the deviled eggs(if you are any kind of deviled egg fan, get them), and their cauliflower soup. I loved having the variety of snacks, and didn’t have anything that I didn’t like. As it’s taken me awhile to write this review, I did come back a second time. I had their fish and chips, which was a bit of an obscene price at $ 18 for two pieces of mahi mahi. It was great, except one of the pieces were raw. I assume it’s okay to eat, but when ordering fried fish, you don’t expect it to come out raw. I ate the other piece with no issue(the raw piece was much thicker than the one I ate), and when I brought it up to the server, they gave me a discount of $ 9, which I suppose is fair, but I kind of expected to be given that part of my order for free, especially considering he didn’t come back to our table until we were done(and no, I didn’t get an additional piece) 4 stars because I enjoyed everything else. Especially the pâté. 1 knocked off, because it’s a VERY loud atmosphere, and maybe I’m still a bit annoyed I didn’t get that part of my meal free.

Hidden gem right off the freeway. If you can’t stand to sit in traffic, take a pitstop at this brewery! Met a friend here for hh and found that all of their beers are $ 4/pint during hh. Great collection of beers to try out. I would highly recommend trying out the double IPAs. Ambiance: awesome décor. Love all the wood interior. I managed to get the couches by the fireplace. Food: Only tried to the brats, but they were bomb! GUAPPROVED!

Yum! I loved the ambiance, the friendly, attentive staff and the food/drink — so, basically everything?! ;) We came here after boarding at Stevens and it was such a nice way to relax. We ordered the mushroom soup, the Bavarian soft pretzel(with smoked gouda sauce), grilled chicken sandwich(with mushrooms and cheddar on an actually very yummy GF bun) with fries. I also found a new favorite wine, the Alexandria Nicole Grenache. Can’t wait to head back up to Bothell to go back! We were there for Happy Hour so the prices were super reasonable too… always a bonus.

Had a super lunch today with an old friend who is a longtime Bothell local– she strongly recommends this over McMenamins nearby because of 1) Better Food 2) Attentive service 3) Available parking. Her burger looked deelish but I can’t forget how good the house made garlic chicken and pork sausage was, along with onion rings with ketchup made also in-house. Awesome smokey and sweet flavors, cool presentation on brushed aluminum tray wedges, and our server was the definition of sunshine. Strong win today Beardslee, well done on a gorgeous space, ambience, décor(loved the Edison light bulbs and dark wood trims), and vittles.

My wife and I stopped in here for happy hour and were quite pleased. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Each stall states a maximum of 2 hours. Discover is an accepted form of payment. An outside seating area with a fire pit is offered to ward of the chill. The interior is clean, spacious and rustic. Happy hour is offered daily from 3pm-6pm in the lounge and patio areas only. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. My wife and I each ordered a couple pints of Knuckle Boom ESB and Sequoia IRA for $ 4(hh) each. We both enjoyed our choices of brew. We shared the Stout Infused Deviled Eggs(qty 3 halves) with Pickled Mustard Seed for $ 3(hh). Tasty little morsels with a tasty mustard seed garnishment on top. My wife ordered the Mahi Fish(qty 2 pieces) & Chips for $ 18: Beardslee Ale Battered and panko crusted mahi mahi, served with fries and house tartar sauce. What an excellent choice. The fish was amazing. The fries tasty and salted perfectly. For my meal I ordered the Garlic Chicken & Pork Sausage for $ 12: Chicken sausage, grilled pepper & onions, herb aioli on fresh baked roll. For my side I ordered the Smashed Cajun Potato Salad. I enjoyed my meal but didn’t love my meal. I wouldn’t order again in the future. The sausage had a strong smoke flavor which I’m not fond of. The Cajun potato salad was sweet rather than bold and spicy. Sweet relish/pickles were used which I do not like. I also detected hints of cinnamon. I prefer my food savory over sweet. Thank you Beardslee for providing great brews, friendly staff and a unique menu.

Kingdom Hearts Ambience: 4 Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Value: 3 The Beardslee Public House is the new heart of the John Howie empire, and it’s(going to be) magical. There are three major things that Beardslee does to serve the kingdom. First, it brews all of the beers to be served at John Howie restaurants, right there on the grounds. And they also brew a variety of specialties just to be had at the house. The have a bunch of great brews, done just to John Howie tastes. The wit is great and the northwest IPA is awesome. They also switch the beers around. I’m personally looking forward to the Belgians coming in February. Second, they are also distilling their own liquor. John Howie’s partner is a MBA sommelier cicerone. He has brewed up some aware winning vodkas, gins, and(coming soon) whiskeys. It is some of the very best, well executed. In addition to being the base of the cocktails served at the house, you can also purchase bottles from their distillery downstairs. Finally, to come, they will be curing their own meats. We’re talking about Salumi’s quality charcuterie. They’re still getting all the permits ready, but it will all soon be ready soon. The food here is pretty fantastic, as you would expect from John Howie. From the hummus to the sausages, everything is as tasty and tasteful. They also pair everything well with their drinks. They also have happy hour every day, and also during Seahawks games. I heartily recommend the Beardslee public house.

The bourbon butterscotch crème brûlée won my heart — I would categorize it as one of those must-have desserts. Just the thought of the perfectly caramelized toppings with smooth, creamy custard with the splash of bourbon butterscotch is mouth-watering. This is officially my new favorite crème brûlée. The prime burger was flavorful and filling, you can upgrade your fries to the«big foot fries» for an additional $ 1.50. I highly recommend that you upgrade your fries, or you’d be missing out. Our server was courteous and friendly. The fact that Beardslee Public House is a John Howie restaurant & brewery definitely makes it more attractive. All in all, great place to hang out with friends for a casual night out.

I was recently here with a Unilocal event and have to say I saw and learned so much I think I may be officially hooked. And I’m not even a beer person(they brew their own and offer free brewery tours(call for days & times please). I found out this is a John Howie concept(of John Howie Steaks & Seastar — beautiful fresh yummy seafood; both of Bellevue, WA. When I spoke to famous, adored, adulated, incredible Chef John Howie(can you believe he not only spoke to me but talked at length about his restaurants, me being Southern and his Southern affiliation and the fact that he himself made my real Southern Sweet Tea?) He said he wanted a place with good food, good atmosphere, that everyone could afford. The place is cosy, family friendly, and still has tv’s for Seahawks games! There’s food at many price points, and I think if everyone in your party couldn’t find something to love, that this incredible GM(I’m so sorry I forgot your name but you were awesome) and/or Chef Howie would bend over backwards to make you happy and make you something you would love. I just can’t say enough about this place, it’s people(oh, incredible servers too), and it’s food. I will most definitely be back!!! :-)

«A much needed addition to the Bothell neighborhood.» There are some decent dinner and weekend meal spots in Bothell. The Beardslee Public House is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The tall ceilings, loud yet casual atmosphere and huge open space helps create an ideal meeting for a mid-week happy hour or weekend night gatherings. I have visited the Public House twice and found the food to be overall excellent. The hand tossed pizzas are of common fare with other pubs/brewery, however this establishment seems to have chosen amazing combinations for toppings. For anyone looking to overload on cheese, I recommend the Cheese Cheese Cheese. A rich blend of parmigiano, mozzarella, and fontina creates a rich topping that simple sticks to the ribs. The zucchini and chevre is the polar opposite and is lighter. I recommend order the pretzels or grilled kal-bi meat candy for starters. The service, like our meal was on point. Servers were very helpful and accommodating. They consistently checked on our meals and our water glasses were always filled. Drinks are definitely their strong point. Selections range from beers on tap to fine crafted martinis/cocktails. To accompany the libations, the public house also shows games and even has fireplace seating for a cozy and comfortable drinking/sporting/hanging out experience. A fair advise to anyone, this place does have some high decibel moments. Soft conversations will not fair well as the public house is very lively and energetic atmosphere.
