I had a breakfast on a Sunday. Cheap and good. I liked the thick and soft pancake. Nice waitress. Small and not fancy yet nice food.

Food was bland, coffee was not good, service was slow(one waitress for the whole café) Old fashioned, but not quaint.

Alexa’s was packed. Kozy Korner was a 20 min wait. Then we saw Steve’s. We didn’t even know this place existed! We went in and were seated right away. We just wanted a simple breakfast and figured anywhere would do. It’s hard to mess up breakfast but it’s very difficult to perfect. So let’s give it a go. Steve’s did a fine job. I had the Egg’s Benny and while it was decent, the big negative was that it was drenched in hollandaise sauce. Too much guys! Everything was soggy. But with that said, I damn near licked my plate clean. The place itself was homey. Friendly fellow customers. I do have to call out one employee who absolutely hussled her ass off. I believe she said her name was Ruby. We thought she was the only one working for a while. Possibly even cooking the food herself. Someone else finally came out and helped but Ruby stood out as an exemplary type of waitress you would want during a morning breakfast rush. I think we will come back again. The food wasn’t mind blowing, but it got the job done and we left happy. And, no crazy wait times! Worth it in my opinion.

2 stars solely because of the awesome waitress & cute old place… I had the Oriental Salad — hardly any veggies or flavor. Only top ramen noodles with peas and small amount of cabbage mixed in. I really want to give this place a 2nd try — maybe something like a burger but the salad was not good :( Great atmosphere, and lovely waitress!

I love Steve’s Café! Everytime I go there, I’m always greeted with a smile and a hot cup of coffee. I order the breakfast combo everytime I go. The portions are plentiful and my coffee cup never goes dry. The service is fast and friendly. What more could you ask for — it’s the perfect way to start your day :)

Not bad, not great either. I got the basic scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and a muffin. It was pretty good, but the hash browns were pretty greasy. Service was passable despite it being fairly busy. The waitresses seems to have local regulars they like talking with the most but at least they take care of things. I prefer the Kozy Corner Café across and up the street.

Service was fine, people friendly. The food and pricing are adequate. There just was nothing special about this experience that would entice me to return.

The menu was very limited. We attempted to eat here on a Sunday because there was no line. The menu let me down. Nothing special at all. This is plan Jane dinner. Deep fry it and eat.

This place is terrific! Fantastic food, prices, and cheery and warm service! The waitress this morning with dark hair was very friendly and attentive. I had previously tried out Alexa’s Café but didn’t care for the interior or the food too much. I hadn’t noticed Steve’s across the street until a customer at the shop I work at recommended it for the ‘best breakfast potatoes ever.’ I’m a huge potato enthusiast so that was a pretty bold statement that I had to investigate further. My boyfriend and I went today so I was able to order their eggs benedict with ham and country potatoes(a few menu items are only available Sat/Sun., this being one of them). My boyfriend ordered their special, chicken fried steak breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. Food came out quickly and everything was delicious– I like that they use a thin ham that kind of shreds up when you’re eating it instead of a thick cut. And the potatoes! The country potatoes are really amazing– I think there’s a bit of rosemary in them. The portions were a good size too, not comically large, but still more than enough food! I loved that the café was also not overly busy or anything even for a late Saturday morning. We are definitely going to start popping in here whenever we want breakfast out.

What a wonderfully nostalgic«ma & pop» gem located in the heart of Washington. The feelings left behind are honey mixed with hearts and wishes! Delicious food is perfectly paired with a warming environment.

Personally I think Steve’s has the best breakfast ! Great hash browns and fluffy eggs. It’s not fancy but the owners Steve and Marlene are a hoot!

Love this place. I love the little old fashion no foo-foo breakfasts and this one so does it right. Good food at fair prices is what keeps this place full. I live in Redmond and will drive over just to eat there and meet some friends for Breakfast. Bacon and eggs is it!

I’m a big fan of ‘Mom and Pop’ cafes, and Steve’s fits the bill. The breakfasts are excellent and served hot, and the staff is nice and friendly. I’d certainly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to wait for seating at that ‘other place’ across the street. You won’t be disappointed!

We rode our bikes to Bothell from north Seattle on a Sunday morning intending to go to Alexa’s across the street to try it out. Given the long wait there we headed to Steve’s. We met another biking couple coming out and they said it was perfectly satisfactory, recommending the country potatoes. They too had intended to go to Alexa’s. Given the effect of lines on perceived quality, maybe Steve should hire people to stand outside looking as if they’re waiting to get in. We were very happy with our breakfasts and plan to return. My cheddar omelet with added green pepper, mushrooms, and tomatoes was simply stuffed with fresh ingredients; no skimpy, disappointing omelet here. The serving of country potatoes was enormous – probably 2+ cups. They’re cut in wedges and fried to fluffy goodness. The English muffin was cooked just right for my taste, with a little bit of brown from the toaster and neither underdone nor overdone.(Why some restaurants can’t figure out how to toast an English muffin always baffles me but I’ve had a lot of them that are either just flabby/raw or toasted until they’re hard.) My husband had the country-fried steak special(not on the menu). It came with hash browns, scrambled eggs, and he had English muffin for his toast as well – a huge platter of food. He ate every bite and said the sausage gravy was good – not too runny or too thick, spiced just right. The menu isn’t long and doesn’t have a lot of elaborate options; Eggs Benedict is about as fancy as it gets. They have the basic French toast, pancakes, a few egg options, biscuits, oatmeal. The place is small – maybe 8 booths/tables total. But for a fast, down-home breakfast it hit the spot. Extra points to the waitress for taking it in stride when we walked in with paper coffee cups from Alexa’s(which has a pot for you while you’re waiting). That wasn’t very classy on our part but we didn’t want to throw away the coffee we’d gotten when we thought we were staying there.

I stopped in here for breakfast on a Sunday and it was one of the best decisions I made. Steve’s Café Expresso is a great little mom and pop restaurant with delicious foods, low prices and friendly service. I have brought my friends and family by as well and will definitely become a regular customer. There is no wait and I’ve always been seated within five minutes. The menu is pretty diverse, with pancakes, eggs, hash browns and many other orders. My brother ordered sausage and the portion was huge, and definitely worth the pirce. I recommend trying the early bird special if you are visiting for the first time. The food is always warm and comes out pretty quickly. Great place for a yummy and cheap meal in a relaxed area.

I have been a few times and I love the food and the mom and pop feel. People who like the National chain atmosphere won’t like it but those of us who love great humble local places are in heaven.

It was Father’s Day and our regular breakfast spot, Alexa’s, was quoting a 45 minute wait. Steve’s is across the street, and had space, so we decided to give it a whirl. There were only 2 or 3 servers and a pretty full restaurant, but pleasant attitudes always encourage my choices to stay or wander. We were seated within 5 minutes and entertained ourselves paging through a book of historical Bothell pictures. We had simple pancake & egg breakfasts, prepared in a straightforward and pretty speedy way. Nothing particularly noteworthy, but reasonably priced and definitely better than Denny’s! Service was good too. They only serve breakfasts on Sunday, and they even had a 15% off deal for Father’s. Edit: I hear they serve breakfasts on Saturdays too. It may not be my first choice, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with their pretty straight fare.
