Stopped by after golfing at Boulder Creek. Always like to find/check out local bar when in new area. Nice find. Definately a blue collar bar. Nice staff and seemed like everyone very friendly. Will stop again when in area.

Please… What’s not to like! Joe’s IS Boulder Creek. Friendly bar tenders, friendly locals, Joe’s has it all. The new owners are creative and have really cleaned the place up.(it now smells so clean) The parties and fund raising events are a blast. I think more people are at Joe’s for New Year’s Ever than live in Boulder Creek. Happy New Year!

Love this place ! Mostly regulars. The bartenders are hilarious. The new owners really go above and beyond. They have food every Monday night for football, and sometimes on random days the owner will cook for all the guests for free !

Went there before noon on a Saturday. There was only one other customer. Sierra Nevada on draft was good and fresh. Nice collection of beer related memorabilia. Classic old fashioned bar in small town America. No food but bartender was friendly.

Little known fact: Joe’s has free wifi. And, Joe’s bar is cool enough that a gal like me can sit at the bar, pull out her computer and order a glass of wine, and no one gives me the stink eye. I do not feel discriminated against because I’m not a biker, pool player or a Joe’s local, and I appreciate the history of the building, especially the old barber’s chair by the front window. Next time I go to Joe’s to get some computer work done, I will see if I am brave enough to order coffee instead of wine.

5 stars for Joes, before the new owner-This place is fucking fun, down to earth, and the people that rock out, do it with their cock out! Yeah, I’ll be going back. Goooo, Joe’s! 3 stars now with new ownership: some things are still the same and good there, like seems like they still have great bands, but they seem to be trying to slowly modernize by bringing in things like a new digital jukebox, which has some shitty selections like rap for gawd’s sake. Sorry but this is an old historical mountain town, and many of the people here like the older feel and look of things. the last thing is the bartender, the young tattooed one. Not sure if i’m calliing it right, but she seems a little arrogant, because she doesnt make a lot of eye contact, or smile much. she just isn’t very personable, but other bartenders there seem really nice.

Our family was on vacation and excited to stop in and relax at Joe’s Bar. Have a beer in this historical bar. It ended there! The woman bartender gave us the stink eye as soon as we walk in. I sat down and she walked past us gave the existing patron their beer, plopped her elbows on the bar and glared at all of us. I said hello no response. So after very long 10 minutes of her glaring, we left… Went to Boulder Creek Brewery, and they are awesome… They only received the 1 star because of being historical.

Had a great time at Joes Bar. Awesome staff, great drinks and good music. The Deltaz were played there the night I was there. They also have a jukebox and pool tables.

hell yeah. old school bar with lots of friendly folks. reasonable prices, comfy and cozy in the mtns of santa cruz… the night we were there they had a band playing real country music… holy moly! they were authentic and cool and when they said where they were from… they were like real cowpeople or whatever… the bartender said they were the buffalo brothers or somehting… we had a big group out that night and we just loved the bar and the band and the whole thing… we’d go back for sure.

What’s not to like about Joe’s? Good vibe, friendly bartenders, signature Boulder Creek feel. KILLER bloody marys and decent beer selection. Not a place to lay low(at least not for me) because I inevitably run into people I know there, but that’s part of the fun! Especially fun to hang out here on weekends during the day(yes, during the day) and visit with some of the road-trippers passing through.

If you really love dive bars that have a strange smell to them, this place might become your new home! On the upside, drinks and beer are reasonably priced and a game of pool is only a quarter. Fairly friendly atmosphere.

It’s the best little hole-in-the-wall place in BC. Every time I’ve gone there with friends we’ve had a blast. It’s pretty small, with only 2 pool tables in the back, but everyone is super friendly and no one is ever afraid to start up a conversation. The first time I went there was live music and everyone was dancing and having fun. It’s just a great atmosphere, the perfect ending to your Friday night.

I liked this place… the bar tender was super friendly(even though I was cheering on the Seahawks against the Niners and he was wearing a Niners shirt), and the beer was a little spendy, but that is not the bars fault, just an error in Ca’s liqour lic tax. I’ve been here a few times and always had a good time. A good place to go is you are looking for A REALBAR and not a pageant show.

Seriously fun. The owner is a great person and super friendly. Décor is classic dive bar without being dirty or off-putting to non-classic dive bars drinkers. Very supportive of all kinds of charities and good causes; frequent fund raisers and community benifits. Low prices and good stiff drinks.

The best way I can explain Joe’s is to call it a Classy Dive. Classy: The place is kept clean and the patrons and staff care enough about the ancient bar top that everyone uses coasters. Jukebox? 5 songs for a buck. Pool? 2 well maintained tables, straight house cues and $ 0.25 per game. Lookin’ for trouble? If you get into a fight you’re 86ed for LIFE. Dive: Dimly lit, sports on the TV and STIFF drinks. Clientele? No one gives me a second glance when I walk in. Fun fact! On the floor, under the bar is a brass trough that the gentlemen of a bygone era used to «relive» them selves. The owner Karenann is a wonderful, civic minded individual. If you need a venue for a benefit she has a place for it and knows a crappy band that plays for peanuts. She has a little kitchen in the back and the 3 or 4 times a year that it’s open for events Joe’s is transformed into the best restaurant in Boulder Creek.

Wow, they have Strongbow Cider and cheap pool. The bartenders are very friendly and the bar attracts an interesting collection of locals and passing bikers. Try to catch Charlie play pool Wednesday nights… they hold a weekly tournament.-EFK
