Mmmm! Love this place… Great organic soups made daily. Pretty good salad bar and sandwich bar. And just an awesome selection of healthy snacks and organic goodies. They have coffee and tea, but it probably won’t be hot. No espresso or juice bar(yet)

Produce is often super expensive. I love the bulk sections and the meat options are usually good. From time to time I get really bad cuts of chicken or beef. One time I bought chicken and had so much fat that it ended up being over a third of the portion; and another time I paid almost $ 20/lb for steak that had so much tendon that you couldn’t even eat it. It is often too expensive for just a little bit of meat.

If you buy into the organic thing, then this place is great. All I can say is bring your entire paycheck. This place is PRICEY! The people they hire for the most part are very friendly, but considering the prices, I would expect that. Oh don’t forget to bring your reusable bag or get charged for a paper bag as plastic is banned in most of the county

5 Stars because the only other option is Johnnies. The fruits taste garden picked, they have samples on occasion and I love the healthy items they offer. Bonus: Their staff members actually smile, have a conversation with you and are friendly.

i actually came here in search of some nougat candy since a friend of mine had given me some from a new leaf market a few weeks ago. i’d actually never set foot inside a new leaf market, but since this was so close to where i’d just had dinner, i figured, why not check it out? this store is actually quite small when compared to most supermarkets and grocery stores, but then again, i was in a smaller town, so everything is sized accordingly. they had the typical organic produce, fruits and veggies, nuts, dairy and non-dairy section, and dried foods. however, i did not find this nougat candy in any of the food aisles. unfortunately, during this visit, there was also a homeless man hanging out, and i saw him in almost every aisle which was a bit unnerving. i didn’t make any purchases since i didn’t find my nougat candy, but nice to know there is a new leaf in boulder creek as i’m sure i’ll be coming back for some more hiking in this fair town.

I just had a TERRIBLE experience with the checkout lady who turned out to be the manager. She initially was SHORT and CURT with me in conversation. After making a LARGE purchase, I dropped a container of cottage cheese outside. I came back in to see if I could grab another in its place. She COLDLY said NO. I was SHOCKED. As a loyal customer, who spends THOUSANDS at their market, I would think that she would be nice enough to replace $ 2 container that I dropped on accident. When I got home, I called the market, she got on the line and just told me how WRONG I was and that it was my fault. What?! Apparently no one has ever taught her that the customer is always right. I already acknowledged that I dropped it on accident! If you look at the bigger picture, her inability to provide SERVICE to a loyal customer, just costed New Leaf Market THOUSANDS in profits. I will NEVER go back there as long as she is an employee. When I think about her attitude, it makes me SICK. If you are her superior and seeing this and care about SERVICE, I highly recommend that you bring some awareness to the small minded attitude of this EMPLOYEE.

I love coming in here, whenever I’m back home visiting. The staff here are all friendly, and my daughter knows a lot of them. The prices are a little too high, but it IS California, and it IS in the middle of the redwoods. I love their deli section, and their fresh smoothies they make. I’ve become a huge fan of their herbal shampoo and conditioner… so much so, that I found it here in Reno so that I can get it more then once or twice a year! LOL

In the years since my first review this New Leaf has turned over a lot of their staff and I feel better about patronizing this establishment. The deli is now staffed by people who are both attentive to the customer’s order and clean — wonderful and necessary improvements. And while I understand the limitations of shelf space in a small location, I do wish there were more groceries. The insect problem in the produce area seems to have been resolved. However, customer service is still a problem. I have tried to order special items on several occasions, from two years back to just last month, and never once has anyone called me with order status or availability. Each time I go in and ask about my order no one can remember or find my order, or if they can, they can’t remember what happened to it. Still a lot of room for improvement.

Very pleasant place. I shop here often when I’m up in Boulder Creek. Similar variety and products to the other New Leaf stores. I especially like the bulk section. I always find something new to try :)

During our adventures on the back roads as we drive to Santa Cruz we have passed by this market several times wanting to get some nice meat from the butcher but never had a cooler with us to keep the meat fresh till we got back home. Well last week we went camping at Big Basin Redwoods and finally got the opportunity to shop there 2 times. We ended up staying one extra night so we went back again. Well not only will you find fresh organic produce and a variety of milk, oils and other grocery products that aren’t so easy to find like Ghee, Walnut Oil etc., but you will find all this and more here including a huge variety of butters. There is an entire section devoted to these products. The store isn’t huge but certainly carries about everything you need. They have a deli and you can get fresh large sandwiches to go and drinks. They even have a section of foods that can be warmed up and eaten. I was most impressed with the meat. The butcher is on duty and we got 2 Rib Eye steaks that tasted like nothing else I have ever bought. So delicious. We also got some ground sirloin grass fed beef and once again didn’t disappoint at all. The taste was like no other. Perhaps I haven’t had this quality since my own dad(who was a butcher way back) got our meats we ate fresh. Treat yourself to a great meal when your around the area at the golf course or the redwoods camping or bring a cooler on your day trips and take something home with you for a nice treat. The cost is comparable to grass fed beef we buy local but the taste is better. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

I was so glad to see a New Leaf open in Boulder Creek. We were in there last month and I was dissapointed to see wilty produce and not too fresh looking food in the deli dept. Not sure this store is as up to par as the other New Leaf’s

I’ve been going to New Leaf for years and their service is nothing less than stellar. They have a great produce selection and their deli is fantastic. Their staff is always there to help and they provide you with quality products that you feel good about consuming. It’s definitely the best grocery store in town and you can’t go wrong with anything you purchase. New Leaf gives you a unique and wonderful shopping experience that I would definitely recommend!

Like most reviewers, I was on my way up to Big Basin for some hiking. We stopped by here as we were supposed to take the highway up to the woods to pick up a quick lunch and something to drink. This supermarket is rather small. The employees are super friendly. Prices were actually on the cheaper side for being in such a small town. We got sandwiches from the deli to fuel up. They’re a good size, so if you’re not a big eater, I would suggest sharing it. My boyfriend and I shared one, and it was the perfect amount of food if you don’t want a food coma or food baby as you hike. A large. 1.5 liter of Crystal Geyser water was only 50 cents, so much cheaper than the $ 3.50 the Big Basin shop was charging. The sandwich was actually really good. Probably one of the freshest sandwiches I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, someone forgot to make my sandwich so I was stuck waiting for a while. But the person who realized my sandwich was lost ended up giving a discount on it which was very generous. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be here again, but I will definitely pay a visit if I go hiking again.

I wanted to buy something here. They won’t let you use the restroom, so they sent me across the street to the pizza place, where I got into an argument with them about letting me use the restroom. Help me boycott all businesses that refuse to let you use the restroom when you are trying to shop there!

Nice store for quality products. While I agree with another(disgruntled) reviewer that expensive food does not taste better, I still spend more at New Leaf to get better sourced meats, veggies, and their excellent collection of drinks and herbal remedies. They have most anything you need, its convenient, and the checkers are lovely people who care about making you happy. Plus, the deli is a nice quick option.

I love this local New Leaf Market! Yes, it may be on the pricy side. However, the convenience of fresh, local ingredients and a super friendly staff keeps me coming back every time. I walk over here almost everyday to get things for breakfast or lunch and most of the time the sweet deli employees know my usual and what I want without me even asking. Really just a great store to have here in Boulder Creek.

Great selection of groceries and deli items given how little the place is compared to their other locations. The staff is always very pleasant, and it sure beats the overpriced and totally underwhelming alternative grocery store in Boulder Creek. They have a good selection of organic produce and packaged goods, many awesome fair trade coffees, and the deli makes superb meals when you’re on the go. Also, try the vegan chocolate cake or carrot cake sold near the deli counter. They are better than regular cake, and if you don’t, I’ll probably end up buying it. Yes, they are expensive, but so is anything in this town. There’s a premium for purchasing so far up in the mountains, and there is also a premium for eating higher quality food. We love it because it is close to our house, but if we have the time, we do prefer to go out to Trader Joe’s and save some money. The cost of their convenience and quality does not merit a lower rating.

Contrary to popular belief, groceries that cost more than rent don’t taste better… New Leaf is too snobby for marshmallows. How do you get away with having a store right next to a bunch of camps and camp fires, and NOT have marshmallows? They’re also too snobby for maple syrup, but they have 20 different types of agave syrup. I can’t wait for the day when yuppies discover agave syrup is made in a lab…(I don’t care, obviously. I want marshmallows. But yuppies are supposed to be better than that.) Owner gets sensitive about less than stellar reviews on Unilocal. Rednecky, tweakery Johnnie’s next door is better.

Great place to shop if you want to consume all your products the same day or the following day. Not in my case. I ventured out here for an overnight camping/hiking trip to The Big Basin Redwoods State Park. I was specific with my needs. My usual singles Spam. Nada! They don’t have that here because simply it’s not all natural. So I figure that they might have something else. Nothing! My other choice would be canned goods that I wouldn’t wanna carry on my hike-too heavy to pack those :) So I ended up with some of their really great tasting English Scones that’s about $ 5 and some dried nuts. The store boasts of the best soup in town. I would never know-never tried it! They also make sandwiches to go with your soup. The store itself is pretty clean. Organized and helpful staff. There is a small parking lot to the right of the store or park in front. No meters. It’s BC for gods sake!
