Love this little store! Great in a pinch, they’ve got a surprisingly good selection of wines and beers and they seem to have some of the common household staples that folks tend to run out of. We always fill up our propane here and the owners are sweet and helpful. For those complaining about the price… it is a «convenience» store. You pay for convenience.

This mountain store is for tourists that do not mind to pay HIGH prices for items that will cost you half as much over the hill. The owners DONOT speak English, so do not expect to ask them any questions. The selection of items are poor and the prices are very high. If you are local and cannot go anywhere else, then go for it.

The first time, I bought an energy drink and then I asked to use the bathroom. They gave me the key. I was dressed business casual for a job interview in the area. The second time I was in moving clothes(yoga pants and an old sweater), hair messy, tied up in a pony tail. I asked them if I could use the bathroom, and they told me they didn’t have one. I was disappointed. They treated me completely different based off of how I was dressed. I have been back a few times since. It’s cool to have a store close by when your in a pinch, but it’s much too pricey, and not very welcoming. I wouldn’t recommend it. UPDATE: They allowed us to leave our car in the parking lot. It’s possible that having a Nun in robes with us helped sway their position of being helpful, but I honestly think it had to do with purchasing product. In both cases where I was told yes(to bathroom or parking) I had just purchased something. So it’s quite possible it had nothing to do with the way I was dressed the day I was told no to the bathroom, but rather that they didn’t see me as a customer. I can understand the validity of denying me the bathroom on that grounds, as it is a cost for them.

I have spent a lot of money here, but no more. I was recently thrown out by the owner for asking what the price was on a few bottles of wine that were unmarked. I think the owner is insane. They will never get another penny of my money. Unbelievable and unforgivable rudeness.

It is cozy and country style store but everything’s there. The owners are always welcome and seems they are working hard everyday. I love music they play record tapes for customers while shopping there. I love going there.

So does any one recall the scene in «Don’t be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood» where the Wayans brother go into the little bodega and the small Asian lady follows them around yelling hurry up and buy? Well that is the feeling I get every time I step foot in this store. This is by far the closest store to my house. When I first moved in I had no fridge or stove or microwave or anyway to make food. So I wondered done to the Mountain Store to get some snacks to hold me over the first few nights. Not only was everything overpriced there was A LOT of food packages that had the corners eaten through by rats. I like a dive as much as the next guy, but paying a 25% premium to buy a loaf of bread next to one that is half eaten by rats just doesn’t fly with me. I will share one more story. I like booze and I am poor. So I make use of the line of malt beverages that are 10%+ ABV. Yeah I am talking about Tilt’s. So the Mountain store had Tilt’s for $ 1.99, which is the average price around town. I started buying like 5 a week for my night cap. By the third week they had raised there price to $ 2.49. No where else has raised the Tilt price. Yes it is convenient, but the owners come across as rude and they obviously have an untreated rat infestation. I refuse to return to this store.
