OH no. I never go below THREE unless I have been abused, humiated, hassled, ripped off or had some sort of altercation with a human inside the business. This restaurant, however, sinks to a new low– THEFOOD was inedible. ***** The Service, Ambiance, everything else was a 4⁄5! Honest! ***** Adorable, cute patio seating on the Boulder Mall. Service was nice, friendly, attentive. I thought things were going to be just fine when the bread basket came out. But that’s where we should have stopped. I ordered the Pollo Raspunte(sp?) — Chicken, potatoes, and spinach. Spinach from the can, potatoes drenched in oil– I can deal with that mediocrity, but the chicken? It was GRAY, as in 50 shades, tough– had they nuked it? Why was it gray? It tasted gray, tough, dry, slightly chemical, and just awful. I don’t even screw up that bad cooking at home. I could not eat it. British Boyfriend’s Pizza was a new low. Take the worst proscuitto, the worst cheese, some canned undrained calamata olives, a hard boiled egg(?) and put it on a bobolo crust from Safeway: Undercook, serve cold. Aka: COLLEGE, or in this case caffe’antica’s worst possible pizza ever. Something is fundamentally wrong here– needs a kitchen intervention. Plus, the public bathroom smell on the patio was not nice. RUNRUNRUN away!

Got the clams and they were all closed shut… sauce was flavorless, pizza was terrible. Good location and cute restaurant, but go to one of the better Italian eateries in town.

I have eaten their small plates and appetizers one other time and sat outside and had a very nice meal. Last Wednesday night we went for an early dinner. We were seated between 2 doors even though we were one of a few couples in the place. The table felt sticky. Of our 3 small plates, the calamari was dry, cold, and tasteless and the egg plant in it was burned, the crêpe was more like soup covered in crêpe, and the portabella appetizer was ice cold. To top it all off we ordered the crème brûlée (hoping for a bright spot). This was cold and the strawberies for the garnish were sort of black and dry. I went home and wondered if I had eaten the display models for the night. I guess I should have sent it back, but I was in denial. Not a fan of this place.

I have had better service in France & I have a southern accent, as far as the food imagine something even worse than olive garden, but with a cliché 80’s trattoria décor complete with a cheesy fountain in the middle.

Good food. Cute interior fakes street life in Rome. Good wine.
