This is a great hiking spot! Really beautiful views, relatively flat, and pretty quiet(not too crowded.) Dogs must be on leash, but my pup still loved it. Depending on the time of year, the views differ. This summer I was able to see lots of wildflowers. Not too shady in the summertime, so wear a hat and bring sunglasses! For non-Boulder residents there is a $ 5 fee to park in the lot. You must have cash, as you stick it in an envelope then hang something on the back of your car window. My only little gripe is I got a little confused with the trail markings as I got going. There is a big map as you embark upon the trail, but I got a little mixed up as I was going– some of the names on the trail signs seemed to change as I went. Probably my own fault and no harm done. We’ll definitely be back for a future adventure!

Évaluation du lieu : 3 Murrieta, CA
The primary reason I rated this as three stars is because it was more of a nature walk than a hike. I found the Flatirons trail on a hiking website, and it was rated as easy-moderate. Since I knew I would be wearing my one-year-old, I thought that sounded like a good trail for me. However, whoever put this into a moderate category at all must be high(and since this is a Boulder trail, that may just be). Completely flat trail. Honestly my one-year-old could have walked it herself had I been patient enough to wait for her tiny legs(which I’m not). That being said, the scenery is pretty, but not as nice as going up into the actual Flatirons. It costs $ 5 to park here unless you are a Boulder resident. Dogs are welcome on the trail as long as they are on a leash or under voice command. If you have young kids and just want to go for a nature stroll, perhaps you will like this trail more than I did. I even think you’d be able to use a jogging stroller on this trail as long as you have good tires(not small, plastic ones like on a regular push stroller).

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Arvada, CO
This is a great trail close to, well actually Arvada. but you’d think it was in Boulder– why do those Boulderites have to try and claim everything. Maybe we’ll start calling ourselves, The Arvada(like The Bronx) and get a little more street cred and have more biking and hiking trails. You can shoot off to numerous trails here, runners, hikers, Mountain Bikers, they all seem to just get along around here. Depending on which trail head you start at, you may find yourself on a groomed double track, rocky single track(resembling a river bed), paved gravel or off in the woods on a beginner/intermediate single track. A few hills, with nothing impossible to overcome, but you will at times shout to yourself«shut up legs!» There are plenty of places to turn around, but not many with shade if you stay on the east side of highway 93. So, fill your camel back and go scoot… no matter who claims they own this trail.
