Import Coachworks

I almost exclusively deal with Jim when I call or come by for estimates. He’s been very kind to me over the years.
I’ve taken both my cars here for both major and minor work over the past 7 years. If we’re dealing with insurance companies, I pretty much get the same price from everyone, so I’ve used them and had great results. And since I know these guys’ work, I come here first for estimates for other things that don’t involve insurance.
My daughter’s Jetta sedan has been in more times than I can count now. It sits so low in front that we routinely get the bumper caught on the edge of the concrete gutter where it meets our driveway. She also has a tendency to pull up too close to things when parking, such as those concrete parking blocks and sidewalks (ok, I admit, I’ve caught it on things more than twice too). These guys have reattached the front bumper a number of times for mere pocket change, or a batch of homemade baked goods, until they could no longer make that work. That meant the inside fender on one side needed replacing. I got quotes from a few places, but since Jim knew us, he gave me the best price and did a great repair that only took a few hours. Unfortunately, my daughter still manages to pull it out of place every few months. Guess she’ll need to bake another few batches of brownies and cookies.
They also do some unusual work for me. This week, they’re going to install some glass headlamp lenses to replace the old worn out plastic ones. Auto Armor put some 3M film on the front of the glass lenses. Anyway, I called all over town and no one else was interested in doing this job. So, I was really happy when Jim said, «Yeah, we can do that for you». Now I need to make 3 batches of brownies for all the people that have worked on this Jetta this week alone.
Another great thing is their location. Pekoe Coffee is right across the street, so I hang out there, and Whole Foods on Pearl St. also just a hop further down 30^th. So no need to wait at the shop if you don’t want to.

We brought my daughter’s Toyota Rav4 here to have her front bumper replaced. After picking the car up, we found that her back bumper had been damaged somehow while AT Import Coachworks. There was a 3 inch, somewhat shallow, dent on the rear bumper — it seemed consistent with someone backing up and bumping into another car in their tight parking lot. We immediately reported it, and were told that we needed to talk to the «owner». We paid for the work they had done (big mistake — I should have waited and may have had more leverage). We were told to call the next day, so we did. The next morning we called and were told that we would need to bring the car in after 3pm, when owner Dave would be there. So we did. As soon as we arrived, Dave greeted us and asked, «If this new damage happened here, why did you wait until so late today to let us know?» When I tried to explain that we had been told to bring it back in after 3pm, he rudely brushed me off! He kept saying, «I’ve been doing this for 40 years, and I know how this goes.»
I had gone in that afternoon fully intending to try to find a middle ground solution to the damage to the back of the car. After five minutes with Dave, it was clear that his intention was to intimidate two women and send us on our way. He angrily stated that my daughter had likely lied about the situation and had probably gotten into an accident on her way home (she was with me the whole time). At one point he said that the paint on the back of her car was probably «poorly applied», and that his «power washers» might have caused the damage. But he went on to claim that any carwash would have caused the same dent and paint loss. (We’ve washed the car many times, at the Puddle in Boulder, and they have never damaged the car). He went on and on, and if I tried to say anything he would rudely say, «LET ME FINISH». So my daughter and I just stood there listening to him rant. I kept saying, «Thank you, and we’re leaving now.» Each time he escalated his tone and said again, «LET ME FINISH».
After almost 30 minutes of this, I finally had to just walk away while he was still going on. My daughter and I left and will NEVER return. I have never posted on Unilocal before, but I felt that I have to warn people about this business and Dave Mosley.

I was recommended by a friend to Import Coachworks several years ago when he backed into my 2003 BMW — they did an amazing job on that car! He had used them several times as well (he has a tendency to not look before he backs up!) and had nothing but positive things to say.
When someone hit my 2010 BMW right before Christmas, I took it back to Import Coachworks. I know that I was a complete pain to deal with as a-​the guy who hit me was not calling his insurance company back to start the claim, b-​due to the holidays I knew I would be without my car for weeks (due to the guy’s procrastination and the holiday’s themselves) and c-​I wanted the best for my car as it was in perfect condition before the accident.
I worked with Dave to have my car towed in mid-​December and he was great to work with. Once the guy’s insurance company finally got the police report and confirmed he was at fault, Import Coachworks immediately jumped on getting my car done. I worked with Jim and he was great (even though, again, I know I was being a pain) and kept me up to date on everything that was going on. The pictures of my «baby» being taken apart were hard to see, but it was great to see the progress as it was being made.
Jim and Import Coachworks did a fantastic job! My car looks great and they guarantee their work. Once the ball got rolling, they got my car turned around in about two weeks, and it looks like new. They worked with me to ensure I got new parts and dealt with all the insurance hassles that came up.
If my friend backs into me again or, heaven forbid, I get in another wreck with this car or any other, only Import Coachworks will be allowed to work on my car!

Excellent work on my dented side door! Really looks as good as new — you’d never know any work was done. They were able to get my car in right away, took care of the paperwork with the insurance company and had my car ready on time. Nice guys in the office. Great!
Only 4 stars because their quote was higher & time needed for the repair longer than the place my mechanic recommended. The other place was not in my insurance network, so I went to Import instead. If you’re paying out of pocket though, the price difference was several hundred dollars.

They did a great job repairing the damage to my Honda Fit. They handled all the insurance paperwork seamlessly and I had no hassles whatsoever. Later, when I discovered an oil leak that was apparently caused by the accident, they arranged for Hoshi Motors to fix it. Even though Import Coachworks had no part in this repair, they transported the car to Hoshi, handled the extra insurance paperwork and payments, and even called me when the car was ready! I didn’t have to do anything except pick up the car when it was done, which, by the way, was the next morning. I have nothing but accolades for the great service I got.

These guys did a great job repairing my car after I was rear ended by a woman talking on her cell phone (of course). I’ve taken a few of our other cars here too over the years and they always do a great job on the repairs!
