Liquor Mart

For many years (since the 80s) I patronized Liquor Mart. They had good customer service and competitive prices. Over the years the prices have risen and the service become much worse. Today I went into Liquor Mart to purchase some Christmas gifts and to pick up an online order that I had made yesterday, which included some wonderful 2010 Barolos for some of my clients. When I checked the order I noticed they had substituted all of the 2010 Barolos I ordered with 2011s. When I pointed that out and asked for the 2010s, they told me they had none and offered some lame excuses about why when I ordered a 2010 vintage online, and that order was confirmed, I could end up with a 2011: our website isn’t accurate for vintages (!), these mix ups happen, do I want the 2011 or not?, etc. The service was rude at best with no accommodation for their error. It will be a long time before I return to Liquor Mart, especially given the generally excellent customer service and staff knowledge at Superior Liquors and Hazels.

I got harassed about my ID not being real and then threatened by one of the employees that he was going to call the Boulder Police. I told him to gladly go ahead and do so. I was eventually let in the store and decided not to give them my business due to horrendous customer service. I highly recommend not going there and simply going to hazels right down the road where not only do they have 4x the inventory but a thousand times better customer service.

Walked in there yesterday since I saw a big sign that said «BOGO Franzia» outside. I’m normally not one to make a special trip for Franzia and I’m also normally a Hazel’s guy. But when I saw a chance to acquire 10 liters of passable wine for $ 18 I figured I should get on that.
I was impressed by the wide array of just about everything, including an expansive wine selection. But when I got to the boxed wine (in the corner of the store farthest away from the door), I didn’t see any signage regarding the «BOGO Franzia» offer. I grabbed one box (not wanting to be that guy that shows up at the register with 10 liters of wine and says — *in best stoner voice* — «hey, this stuff is half off, right?) and asked the guy sitting at the counter in the wine section and asked whether these were «really buy one get one,» to which he said he hadn’t heard anything about it.
I proceeded to the register and paid for my box of wine (I was here anyways, might as well get it) which was also one last chance for someone from the store to tell me about the deal. Nope.
5 stars for a great selection and what appeared to be very reasonable prices but 1 star for (at best) lack of signage and no staff awareness of specials or (at worst) false advertising on the marquee out front. This place is technically closer to my house but I must just be a Hazel’s guy.

They have a huge selection and staff is always very helpful. Minus one star for making me feel like a criminal for buying alcohol. It’s probably not heir fault, but that’s how it feels when they check IDs at the door and at the register.

No complaints at all. Great selection of just about every type of alcohol, plus they are always super friendly every single time. I’ve been going here for the past 2 years, and I will continue to buy my all my favorite beverages from here. Thanks for being such a great store!

I must say that I really really like this place! I recently moved to the other side of town and find that I still much prefer to go a little out of my way to pick up my libations at Liquor Mart.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful not to mention they have great deals each and every week (sign up for their emails and learn about upcoming tastings, specials, and in-​store events).
On Sunday’s they offer free newspapers (with or without purchase) and from time to time they offer $ 1 gift cards when you rent a RedBox movie (SCORE!).
There was only one promotion that went sour about a year back. They were running a special that was something along the lines of purchase any wine and receive a $ 5 gift card. I made several trips (walking) to stock up on wine for the holidays and was super psyched to collect the $ 5 gift cards — which I saved up for some more expensive wine/​bombers. When I went to finally use these gift cards they were either for $ 1 or $ 0 — which made me really really upset. For future promotions I’m going to ask that the staff write on the gift card the amount it is for and/​or request a gift card receipt.

Used Boulder Liquor Mart for alcohol delivery services for a large event in August 2014. Kevin was great to work with in the planning process. He was helpful in picking out beer and wine selections that worked for us in our price range. Additionally, he was knowledgeable, professional, and he promptly answered questions via email. The process was easy and delivery was on time. There was a bit of a mix-​up with some of the product that was delivered, but the issue was quickly corrected.

Liquor Mart is a big store with lots of liquor and beer selection. this is where you go when you need to rent a keg for a party. They also deliver if you meet order requirements — which is super helpful if you are ordering a lot for a party.

I placed a holiday gift order to a CA address. Liquor Mart took my money, gave me an order number, then NEVER notified the shipoment couldn’t legally be made to California.
One of our good customers never got a gift.
Idiots — terrible customer service.
There are better liquor stores.

Asked for bottle of Bordeaux around 20 $ and was immediately directed to a great wine for what I asked to pay! Thank you!

Wow! I wished we lived closer to Boulder! What a great place to come for amazing alcohol selections. Not to mention the incredible customer service. I was escorted to two different wine sections and every employee was smiling and happy to help.

Great prices, HUGE selection

Unlike any other liquor store I’ve ever been to. Absurdly ridiculously amazing. When we walk in, the guy checking ID’s ask for ours. We laugh and I say «C’mon man, I look like I’m a bearded grandpa.» He laughs and says «Get the hell inside». Obviously from the outset I like the place. When I get inside, I like the place even more. They’ve got everything. Elusive, special, esoteric beers, like Samuel Smith Stingo, various Belgian ales, lambics, German beers from everywhere, and man they’ve got local breweries covered with stuff from Great Divide and Avery aplenty. They’ve got other stuff covered too, with wines aplenty especially the dessert variety. They’ve even got glassware for all your buys. This is a great place with an extensive beer selection. A must stop for any beer lover!!!

Liquor Mart is THE liquor store to go to in Boulder. They have been around for decades which says a lot and the staff is super knowledgeable about whatever you may be searching for. They have a great selection of beer, wine and hard alcohol to suit your every whim.

An oldie but goodie, classic Boulder. Sure, fancy alcohol purveyors come and go, but day in day out, Liquor Mart still has the selection, the good prices and the very casual but helpful employees. I just don’t know anyone who even cares that it’s still in the same old hardly renovated store that has been there for decades. The location and parking are good too.

There are certain institutions in Boulder Colorado and Liquor Mart is one of them. A long standing family business that keeps up with the times and treats its customers like they matter. They will withstand the unnecessary arrival of the mega store Hazels because this business is equipped to last. Love their 5% discount during daily customer appreciation hours and their email specials too.
Parking is good and free and right on Boulder Creek if your doggy needs a dip on a hot day.

I wish so much that the Liquor Mart was closer to me, stocked exactly as it is in Boulder.
The store is enormous, but let’s just focus on the most important thing: the tasty, tasty Colorado beer.
There is a LARGE selection of beers available to buy individually (picture a wallful), so if you’re an out-​of stater like yours truly looking to try the best Colorado has to offer in fermented grain and hops, do go to the Liquor Mart. Remember, beer is your essential follow-​up to your Rocky Mountain hike.
P. S. The staff was remarkably knowledgable and helpful. He introduced us to
, and recommended new, obscure beers based on characteristics we liked from old, obscure beers.

I wish I appreciated this place more while I was in college. Maybe it’s because I only lived in Boulder for less than a year after I turned 21 so I didn’t have tons of time to visit? Whatever the case, I’ll now add it to the itinerary when I make the trip up to Boulder.
We stopped in after the farmers market a couple of Saturdays ago and I felt like I hit the mother lode. In addition to BYO six packs, their bomber selection is amazing. I found some more rare offerings from out of state favorites such as Dogfish Head, Elysian, and Rogue as well as interesting in state offerings from Crooked Stave and Funkwerks. Prices on bombers are pretty standard, but they had some good deals on craft six packs ($ 6.99 for Deschutes).
Parking is plentiful (for Boulder). There is usually an awkward person checking IDs when you walk in (thanks to Boulder being a college town) but our group wasn’t carded. Not sure if that’s good or not. When we were there, lines weren’t out of control. They also have a good wine selection… I remember once finding a Viognier here that I enjoyed at a tasting that I couldn’t find ANYWHERE else.
While I love Denver’s local, larger liquor store (Argonaut), I could be convinced to trade it for Liquor Mart.

Crap, I’ve been shopping here a long ass time! They supplied the wine and champagne at our wedding over 32 years ago? and they kept my friends and I drunk or at least happy for all our college years even before that! The owners must know what they are doing because the store and staff still rock the ‘hol and the custies are still pouring in. Viva LM!

I’m not exactly sure what it takes for a liquor store to be 5 stars, but when I started thinking through my transactions here, I think Liquor Mart is definitely a 5 star place. They have a weekly ad in the Daily Camera so you can be prepared for your weekly liquor run, (this is Boulder, after all), and the selection is great. They don’t necessarily have every item I’ve looked for, but they’ve had the overwhelming majority.
On a quest for a boston style shaker, I went to the Peppercorn, and was given two options: a $ 30 model, and a $ 130 model. Feeling that this was a little much for a glass and a metal cup, I called over to Liquor Mart to see if they had them, as no other liquor store I’d tried had had them. «Yes,» the employee replied, «we have probably 10 different types. They’re around $ 2 for the glass and $ 5 for the metal half.» I was sold, and over at Liquor Mart within a few minutes. I also picked up some Angostura Bitters and some sweet vermouth.
On another visit looking for bachelor party beverages for my husband’s friends, I nearly ran into some Hitachino Nest beer. This is one of the few Japanese microbrews, and we could not even find it in Japan. I know Dish! in Edwards, and the Bitter Bar serve it, but I had yet to see it in a liquor store. Not only did they have 3 varieties of flavors, they had different sizes as well, and the big bottles were just around $ 10 for an import, in the truest sense of the term.
