For the time that I have known Julie, I have realized she takes pride in what she does with her restaurant. I see her working her butt off just to put a smile on everyone’s face that walks through her door. She has amazing food and great staff. The day that the couple came in, she asked them to close the door because it was a very cold day, and one was holding the door open for the other that was half way across the parking lot. Of course she would be upset that they are letting in cold air. To you, it may have seemed she said it in a «demeaning and belittling way», but you were at fault for holding the door open when your partner was no where near it. She always tries her best to make her customers feel welcome, and I don’t believe how she asked you was«demeaning and belittling» at all.

The owner was sweet, the food presentation was good, and taste was basic/good. The red sauce on my egg and potato burrito was alright, it was good but alright. I will be back to try other dishes on the menu. Thanks

NBC is the go-to place for a tasty, well prepared, non-fancy breakfast/lunch. We go there when we want good food, a friendly neighborhood place, and reasonable service. We usually get eggs and bacon for breakfast(the bacon is to die for) and a sandwich or Mexican entrée for lunch. This is a very homey place with above average food. We always enjoy the friendly atmosphere as well as the tasty food. We take our children and grandchildren to NBC when they are in town — they love it, too, especially the pancakes shaped like Micky Mouse! It works well for everyone. I was there the morning the couple came in for breakfast and one held the door open for the other as she SLOWLY crossed the parking lot; I was VERY glad Julie asked them to close the door as we were all getting very cold. Some people can be extremely rude to others.

I live extremely close to north boulder café and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, my girlfriend held the door for me(chivalry isn’t dead) and the waitress immediately yelled at us to close the door, «IT’S COLDINHERE, INOROUT» in a very demeaning and belittling way in front of other customers. I get it, I’ve lived in colorado my entire life and understand shutting doors when it’s cold. Don’t treat me like I’m 12. We immediately walked out; being greeted like that then expecting this person to handle your food?!? No thanks.

Really disappointed in this place. Decent food but horrible service. There were three staff members sitting at the bar who would not get off their butts to help us.

I grew up in Boulder. In fact, not far from this neighborhood gem and although, I live a bit further away, this is still my go to, for breakfast. The food is good, especially the Mexican dishes, and the owner Jules, prides herself on ordering high quality ingredients. So yeah, you pay a bit more then a comparable place, but I think it is worth a buck or two more. This is still cheaper then most in Boulder as well. The staff is great and the service is beyond good. Jules, is there pretty much seven days a week serving. She loves what she does and loves her place and this shows. She is quick and efficient but more importantly, she loves to talk with you and is genuinely interested in conversing with her patrons. Her personality has as much character as the building. This, in my opinion, is really why I love this place. The staff make everyone feel as if they were a regular. Jules works extremely hard, but I have never seen her without a smile on her face and a warm reception. I feel she genuinely appreciates every patron of her business. Places like this, don’t exist in Boulder anymore. All around town, Boulder is tearing down the old buildings. Very few vestiges of the old Boulder remain and North Boulder Café is one of them. Yeah, you will find some oddities here. Someone in an above review mentioned a dog running about, which I have seen once and yes, he is a service dog for a girl who has seizures So, I’m sorry that created such an awful experience for this woman, but as I said, I have seen that one other time. And honestly, I like that kind of quirkiness and only adds to the character of the place, which so many places now lack here. If you are looking for an upscale, pricey place, with $ 12 mixologist crafted, breakfast beverages, this is not your cup of tea. But, if you are looking for a place with down to earth people and prices, good comfort food and the old Boulder charm, I highly recommend you stop in here for enjoyable breakfast.

Have always loved the low-key and friendly charm of this place. Food has always been pretty great too for being a bit of a greasy spoon. But not good enough to justify a 13 $ omelet with hashbrowns! The prices have been jacked considerably, more expensive than many Pearl Street places whose prices are at least justified ie. sky-high rents. Just can’t figure it out and am disappointed. Most likely won’t be returning.

love this place. it knows exactly what it is. and delivers perfectly. I hate the façade of a lot of restaurants with fake, overly nice waiters and all that jazz. Here, they are just normal, casual servers who do their job well and take care of you, but aren’t afraid to be human in the process. i recommend the Mexican Chicken omelette. mmm.

This place was kind of… a grungy dive. My boyfriend’s parents suggested we hit up NBC for breakfast one morning this past week during my brief stay in Boulder. I wanted to go to some other place that supposedly had $ 0.99 mimosas… mmm…but they said it was«on the expensive side» compared to NBC. So being frugal individuals we decided to go to NBC instead. Well damn. Maybe I am just spoiled living in St. Louis or something because I really did not think NBC was«cheap.» It was like $ 4 or $ 5 for a side of bacon. Around the same price for a side of yogurt. Everything seemed to have the word«organic» written on the menu somewhere. Well, what if I want something INorganic and INexpensive? LOL. Anyhoo. Service was very pleasant and relatively quick. No issues with that. I ended up ordering Eggs Benedict after much internal debate. My boyfriend got the French toast. It looked like he barely got any French toast at all when his plate arrived. The Eggs Benedict were sufficiently filling and it came with fruit as well. The Hollandaise sauce was really runny and had a strange after taste kind of like potatoes. It wasn’t bad but I’ve definitely had much better Eggs Benedict for around the same price.($ 10.99) The orange juice was supposedly fresh squeezed and it was very delicious. I approve of fresh squeezed and will volunteer to spend more money on OJ if it’s fresh. Mmm. The thing that really wigged me out about this place is that there was a random dog that didn’t appear to be owned by any one in particular just roaming around and begging all of the customers for food. Seriously? WTF. I can understand if it was a service dog – but it didn’t have the service dog accessories on it – but yeah. Kinda just turned me off from the place in general. I mean, what if one of our group was allergic to dogs? We’d be sneezing everywhere or something. At least service dogs are well trained to leave other people alone but this dog kept bothering us for food. Granted he wasn’t barking and jumping on us. If that had been the case, I most certainly would have complained or just left. It’s bad enough when my own family’s dog is begging me for food at mealtime, so yeah, I’d rather not have to worry about that when I am out at a restaurant somewhere. My only major gripe with NBC. Otherwise the food was good just overpriced. But then again maybe all of Boulder is like that, lol.

The«other» greasy spoon in Boulder — I really dig NBC… The food is very no frills and damn tasty — Organic options as well(never thought of greasy spoon organic) — The staff consits of family and friends and all are really pleasant and nice(helps when hungover) and the service is super fast(also helps when hungover) — Very inexpensive in comparison to other local breakfast joints — Definitley won’t hurt your wallet

Decent, cheap diner food. Service can range from unbearably slow to fine. Probably the cheapest breakfast in town without having to wait for a table(but waiting for a server to notice you’re there– that’s a different story).

A-OK. That is it. In my age as a Unilocaler, I realized I might have been a wee bit too eager in reviewing. and said stupid shite that made me sound like a complete boob. Sure… Tdog called me out on it. I reacted so hard I almost deleted the below review. Pathetic. I am glad it was pointed out… one of the best I have ever eaten at? Ugh. I was reviewing because I like making creamer towers by stacking them, and they always let me use as many creamers as I wanted. The food is a-ok. The vibe is gritty. So yeah… I gotta go back and review all 1000 of my friggin reviews now? Shoot. Maybe I should just delete them.

One of the better kept breakfast secrets in Boulder. Great family owned restaurant with good old fashioned, hard to mess up, American breakfast eats. I usually have the pancakes or eggs and house potatoes, um-um-good! I’ve never had to wait for a seat either.

Another Friday, another breakfast :-) Friday breakfast is probably one of the best parts of my week. With two young kids it’s hard to have regular date night. So, after the kids are off to school we can just sneak off to breakfast and have some quality together time. This week was the North Boulder Café located at .4479 Broadway. Basic diner stuff. It was seat yourself. The wait staff was friendly if not a little eclectic :-) Theresa had the two egg breakfast scrambled with bacon, hash browns and toast. I had eggs benedict overeasy with avocado and a delicious hollandaise sauce. Top it off with fresh coffee and we were good to go. The total bill was $ 22 for both of us with tip.
