Bad food, even worse service. I got a smothered beef burrito. The texture of everything of soggy and flavorless. I’m genuinely surprised and confused by the positive reviews of this place. The girl at the front taking orders was outright rude and clearly did not want to be there. I will never ever be going back.

Burritos are absolutely insane. Hands down the best in town. Doesn’t hurt the pocket either

This place is so awesome. Starting out as a food truck, which became successful as a local Boulder taco authority, they have since expanded into a small plaza on North Broadway. This is the kind of place that you simply must walk in the door to understand. Tucked away within the plaza, you could easily pass by this place every day before you noticed it(and perhaps us lovers of La Choza don’t mind you missing it) but you would be hard pressed to find a better cost-effective taco around. This family-run joint is as cozy as it is delicious, and you can get some extremely authentic Mexican food for seemingly way underpriced execution. In a town well-saturated with chic taco joints, I still find my way here for the real stuff. Also… they have horchata. Swoon.

Yummy food, divey atmosphere, my fave Mexican in Boulder
Good, cheap, street Mexican food. Others have said the same. This place’s charm is that it is not pretentious — a rarity for Colorado Mexican food. There are no hand-fed duck tacos here. No slow-roasted Hatch chili-oil infused artisanal hot sauces. This is just great tacos, burritos, etc for a great price. Their meats are well marinated, their homemade salsas have a good span of flavors, and $ 3(ish) for a breakfast burrito is great! My friends and I regularly go here before or after a bike ride. Sometimes, I spend $ 15 and grab a whole bunch of breakfast burritos to take in to my coworkers as a treat. No, this restaurant isn’t gluten free. No, it’s not organic everything. It’s just damn good food.

I’m not surprised at how many great reviews this place already has, I’m just mad I was so late to the party! I can’t wait to go back to La Choza. I had the bean burrito(only $ 2.50 each!) and it was so good and so flavorful. Despite being completely full after two, I wanted more. In fact, I engaged in a heated debate with my friend about how many I could physically consume in one hour. I’d say that’s a sign of a great burrito! If you want a nice, sit down meal with a marg… don’t go here. If you want amazing flavor and authentic food, quickly… go here.

Honestly, the most authentic tacos in Boulder. Skip T/Aco and get up here and enjoy the simple basics made with true love and hard work. Great place to get real horchata and homemade house salsa that is so fresh and so incredible. Carve Asada here is legit.

Okay First World people, when you go to this place you are getting really good food. Please, check your expectations and baggage of the«ambience.» The food more than makes up for your«comfort and expectations.» The owners and staff are hardworking people who make awesome food. My family is from Mexico and I lived there as well, this food is authentic, real paisa food. I had the steak(asada) tacos and they were good. My friend had the Carnitas(pork) and loved it. So, when you open that salt packet please don’t frown, turn it upside down and smile and enjoy the good authentic food.

I’m still dreaming of this place, even though we haven’t been to Denver in Months. I realized I hadn’t reviewed it and that needed to change, so that I could remember where to eat when we are back in Denver. We had the street tacos and guac and everything was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

If not for the plethora of CU students, the lack of warm sunshine and the absence of ocean waves lapping at your feet, you might even think you are on the beach in Mexico. Yay, la choza! Fun, friendly and tasty!

I take no pleasure in saying bad things about restaurants, but this place is an absolute shit show. Yes, the food is respectable. Unfortunately everything else is a train wreck. The staff is unbelievably disorganized, there’s incredibly limited seating, and there’s barely anywhere to wait for your food. The interior is disgusting, it looks like they bought all the furniture from a garbage dump. To top it all off, it’s poorly maintained — easily the most unsanitary conditions I’ve seen in years. If you can look past all that and don’t mind waiting 30 minutes for tacos, you’ll probably like it.

It is hard to find awesome street tacos in Boulder, but if you crave great Mexican street food, this is the place! I love, love their tacos and fresh guacamole. They make their own fresh salsas that are to die for. I started eating at La Choza back when it was a little roadside shack next to Iris and Foothills and it just keeps getting better.

The very best authentic Mexican street food vendor you will find. Everything on the menu is cooked to order and made by the same dudes running the shack for years. The stand is where it’s at. Find the shack and attack. Favorites are Jambo burrito, tex mex dog, and any of the tacos plates. Breakfast burritos are hands down the best of any burritos being served for breakfast

This place completely satisfied my hunger for good food in a friendly dive — hard to find in Boulder, CO. I’m not really a Mexican food fan but the tostada with shredded beef was a pleasure to eat. DH was entertained by his burrito de pastor(pineapple was a part of that). So you know, 2 tostadas are too much for one meal. The staff is really friendly and it’s clean and they have a diverse selection of self serve salsas. The place doesn’t have a website menu but doesn’t seem to need one. We went well after lunch and the place was full and several people came in to pick up take out orders. They deserve all the good reviews.

In my(ahem) years, I’ve enjoyed tacos all over the western U. S These are the very best. Obviously scratch-made, this place shows yet again that price does not always equal quality. I mean, four awesome tacos for $ 7? Hell yeah. I’m a-comin’ back for a $ 3 breakfast burrito … damn straight.

Finding a real Mexican food place near home is so great! I have had several orders of tacos and their chili rellenos. The food is so good at a reasonable price. The place reminded me of being in Mexico including the cleanliness but the food is so great if that bother you then just get it to go. The cheek meat tacos(barbacoa) were especially good and melted in your mouth. Just damn fine Mexican food!

Complete hole in the wall, but oh so delicious! Prices are completely reasonable(borderline cheap), and the food is quality! I ordered the Milenesa Torta. Large portions, cooked great, and done fast! My boss ordered the steak and chicken tacos, and he really enjoyed them! Get some of the Horchata. One of the best that ive had!

I am very sorry to be writing a poor review of La Choza. There isn’t much that we like better than a good, hole-in-the-wall, authentic Mexican place, so when I read the great Unilocal reviews for LC, I was thrilled. I told Sweetie all about the place. Neither of us could wait to try it, so we rushed on over. Unfortunately, we were entirely underwhelmed by the experience. I will say that we plan to wait 4 to 6 months and then try the place again. Hopefully, at that point, I will be able to write a better, updated review. First thing we noticed when we walked in– the dining room was visibly dirty. Other than the table tops themselves, which appeared clean, everything was grimy. The floor, the walls, the bathrooms(ick!), and the light fixtures(which were coated with a thick, brownish dust). The place didn’t seem to have had a good, real cleaning in a very long time. Almost made us leave right away, but the kitchen was visible and it didn’t appear too terrible, so we ordered. The person at the register wasn’t particularly pleasant. She was the sort who never says hi or smiles, just stares flatly while waiting for the order. Another(slight) turn-off. The food was entirely mediocre. It fell on the low end of the spectrum compared to similar restaurants we’ve tried(both in the U.S. and in Mexico). The Jalisco breakfast burrito(eggs, chorizo, cheese) could have been good. But the filling wasn’t cooked well. The griddle must have been way too hot, because the eggs were of that very thin, tasteless, almost grayish consistency that results. The chorizo itself was fine. And the cheese must have been mixed into the filling prior to cooking, because it was unidentifiable either by taste or sight. Sad thing is, if cooked correctly, the burrito would have been decent. And, at $ 3 it would have been a good deal. The smothered pork burrito wasn’t very good either. It was small, and only slightly smothered. The pork itself was fine, but there wasn’t much of it, and the burrito as a whole was entirely eh. It came with a few(maybe 5) chips, and a little salsa. For what we got, $ 6.50 actually seemed high. There was a little salsa bar with 3 salsas. The pico de gallo was fine, but the other 2(a green tomatillo and a roasted red) didn’t taste good. At most authentic places, the salsas are so good that I could drink them down plain from a cup. But the ones here, we tried and then set aside. This place should rethink the details(apart from the food). First, get a scrub brush and cleanser and scrub the heck out of the place, floor to ceiling. Second, get some light fixtures that aren’t clear glass, so that the glare of the bulbs doesn’t blind the seated patrons. Third, say hello when people walk up to the counter, suggesting that you actually want them to be there. Fourth, get rid of the flimsy, plastic, compartmentalized elementary school plates. Fifth, get some better plastic cutlery.(We don’t mind plastic utensils in a place like this, but the kind on offer are the smallest, thinnest type, as if made for children. Sweetie had a hard time even holding on to them while eating.) I wish LC all the best. I have great respect for people who are trying to create a small business. And a place like this in specific? We are its target patrons. So, as previously mentioned, we will give the place time to(hopefully) work out the kinks. Then we’ll try it again. We have our fingers crossed.
