Went to Wapos last night and was disappointed. Waiter was inattentive and the food was so-so. Had the Burrito Supreme and was delivered with tasteless and watery green chili. The chili made the whole burrito soggy-bad. They forgot the guac and sour crème and since the waiter did not show up I had to go to the bar to get it. The waiter never came back for our drink order. Also, both dishes were almost cold when served, since the waiter did not return, could not ask them to heat it up.

A nice hole in the all restaurant in North Boulder. Started with fresh chips and salsa. Had some very good enchiladas with red chili sauce. All very good and home mexican food with fantastic service.

My new favorite Mexican food restaurant in Boulder. I love good Mexican food and it is hard to find in BOCO. The staff is so kind, awesome tortilla chips, and the PATIO is amazing. I got the pork tamale plate which comes with one tamale smothered in green chillies sauce, and rice and refriend beans(see photo). So happy it was only one tamale because I can never finish 2 tamales plus r&bs(and free chips & salsa). I like the warm, pillowy sopapillas, but will ask for no chocolate sauce next time(just honey is my personal preference). NEWFAVORITE!

I have now been to this establishment twice. First time was a very quiet evening. Our group, about 20, were the only people in there. They were not able to split checks which created a bit of chaos when we were trying to pay out. The next time, we were another large group seated outside. The check situation improved but everything else was worse. The server, while pleasant, was very overwhelmed. We went to the bar for individual drinks to try and relieve his burden and were turned away! Food came out cold and at all different times. Non-complicated food items took almost two hours in some cases. There was mention that the kitchen had run out of food? The server did his best and even offered to buy drinks for the table out of his own pocket, but there was some seriously lack of organization happening at this restaurant. The owner never came by or offered help. Very disappointing experience. For fairly expensive margaritas you would expect to get a little more. Unfortunate because the place has potential with the right leadership…

I really want to like Wapos. I love the idea of a cool hole in the wall Mexican place in a sea of super expensive restaurants in Boulder, but it disappoints every time. I recently went in with a large group(15) and waited 2 hours for food, we’re talking melted cheese on tortillas and some beans, nothing fancy. Don’t even get me started on drinks. After waiting way too long, a few of us tried ordering from the bar(sounds like a reasonable idea, right?), and were turned away, told that we could only order through our server. The owner completely ignored our table, never once came and apologized, nor gave a good reason why it was taking so long. I even saw him bark at his servers a few times, not cool to do this in public. Two members of our group showed up an hour after we sat down and were told that they could not order food(at 8pm) because they had run out. What kind of restaurant runs out of food? The food was fine, but by the time we got it, all we wanted to do was leave.

The food was excellent but the service could be better. An entire glass of ice water ended up in my lap when the server lost his balance and he never bothered to bring a towel, much less compensate us for any portion of my meal.

Where do I start… this place is a hidden Gem. Coming all the way from Massachusetts I came across this place through Unilocal. It’s a family owned and operated and that is what makes this place boom. The fresh ingredients used are shown in just the few moments to you their since they bring you a home made salsa and tortilla chips to start off with. My fiancé and I ordered two different things that were not of the norm from what we usually ordered. I was so surprise with my dish it had shrimp. Knowing this I said I want to try it! I am here to say if you love shrimp and spice this is the dish for youuuuu! It’s absolutely to die for! The plate is well worth every penny! I can’t wait to come back.

This is my favorite full-service mexican restaurant in Boulder. The food is great and the service is always very friendly. They have a late night happy hour too, if you can’t make the earlier one, and all day happy hour on Mondays. I love their chile rellenos, tamales, flautas(think taquito smothered in chile) and more.

We love Wapos! It’s a bit of a schlep from where we live in East Boulder(but everything is close-ish in Boulder). Don’t be fooled by the exterior and proximity to the Bus Stop. The margaritas and sangria are awesome, the owner is exceptionally friendly and accommodating, and the food is spectacular.

Really nice mexican restaurant on the edge of Boulder. Excellent food, friendly service, nice outdoors patio with a very small but functional playground that keeps the kids busy.

I am so sad to give this place just one star. The service was earnest, the place appeared clean, the tacos were yummy-ish, the piña colada was killer, … that said, I spent the night on the crapper along with my friends nausea and chills. No fun :(

Wapo’s is our go-to Mexican joint in Boulder. The food is consistently great and they pour a fine margarita. Friendly service and fresh, free chips and salsa doesn’t hurt, either. I’m a big fan of the crispy beef taco and the cheese enchilada – Tex Mex deliciousness! It’s not fancy but it’s so tasty, who cares?

The ceviche I had was INCREDIBLE. Jalapeños in the ceviche were awesome! My mouth is still on fire. I also liked the skinny margaritas are only a 153 calorie and very tasty. My man liked his enchilada but said it was a 3.5 overall so pretty good. Maybe he needs to order like me next time.

This is one of the best Mexican places in town! Authentic food, great service and the owners are extremely personable. We go there after bike rides in Lyons or North Boulder. Can’t beat it!

Overall, the food is overpriced for the quality. I ordered 2 chicken fajitas, guacamole and chips and salsa to-go and it came up to about 40 dollars. This seemed expensive after I looked at my food. The chicken strips lacked seasoning and were swimming in a pool of oil with mushy veggies. After reading other reviews, maybe I should have tried the burrito instead. I don’t recommend the fajitas. I ended up trashing the fajitas and going to Rincon for empanadas. The guacamole was good though. The staff is friendly, but on the night I came in they lacked management direction. When I complained to staff about having to drive back for the tortillas they forgot to include in my to-go bag, it became awkward. The individual in charge for the night avoided me to the point that another junior staff member felt the need to step up and address my concerns. All in all, the situation could have easily been resolved if senior management was on staff that night. It was a Friday night during dinner hours so I’m not sure why there was not anyone available. I will not return.

I visited Wapos yesterday while visiting Boulder. While sitting in the car for nearly 4 hours on our way back from the mountains, my boyfriend and I were starving and Mexican was the only cure. We found Wapos on Unilocal and it did not disappoint. We started with the skinny margaritas on special for Sunday happy hour — at about $ 6.50 each if I’m remembering correctly — and then had queso, I had the pregnant burrito with a crispy relleno and he had the burrito supreme. Everything we had was delicious — Wapos is truly a hidden gem. Despite other reviews, I found the atmosphere of the restaurant charming and perfectly fitting for authentic Mexican. Will definitely be back when visiting Boulder again!

$ 26 for two margaritas and guac that we had to season with the salt and pepper from the table. It was almost was not edible. I would have guessed it was powdered avocado if I was younger. I was a cook at the Terrace Maya when it was still good and authentic. It’s lost touch with its spirit and is a poor way to have memories of what it once was

I’m so glad I found Wapos! T|aco is pretty good, but Wapos has the real Mexican hole in the wall vibe. The first time I had Tacos al Carbon and a house margarita. The salsa is free and good! I came back a second time and tried DF Tacos… Oh my god! This Is my new favorite type of taco that I have had anywhere in Colorado so far! Wapos is a friendly place with a great vibe and good food. I’m a fan.

This place is just great. The food is delectable, the staff is super helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable and homey. It’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but worth the drive. This was my first time there, so I can only recommend what I had: the carnitas. They were truly outstanding. Smothered in green chili and bursting with flavor, they came with some delicious guacamole, salsa, rice, and refried beans(which were exceptional; all refries beans have tasted the same to me before this; these were particularly flavorful). Props to the waiter for his recommendation. In addition, everything tasted super fresh. Truly, truly awesome. The only piece of advice(and slight negative) was that the room temperature was a bit chilly. Admittedly, I’m the kind of person who gets cold, but I’m also not usually cold inside restaurants unless the doors are open. So if you’re like me and tend to be cold, make sure you bring a sweater with you.

This is starting to become my go to mexican restaurant in Boulder. While the location is a little out of the way I have never been let down by the food(The shredded beef crunchy tacos are amazing!) or the amazing service and fast! So far everything that I have had there has been great, free chips and salsa too! Most every other place always seems to charge a couple dollars for that. Their drink specials are great, and margs are strong too!
