About the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten – can’t think of one that has been as bad as the one I got. It took less than 20 minutes– a sure sign of a bad haircut. No other customers were waiting. Maybe it was a mistake to say I was from Denver.

This shop was one of the«original hill» business that our family had been going to for four generations. We’ve always had great, service from a staff that makes everyone feel welcome. This shop caters to all ages, ranging from babies first haircut to students, ROTC, to OMG I’m getting old! Talented, friendly stylists are always available, and we love their«walk in» policy. When«Fred, the Barber», a treasured Boulder icon passed, his daughter, Laurie, took over and very capably filled his very large shoes, carrying on his values and traditions of hiring above average stylists, reasonable prices, and a very welcoming environment. I love that Silver and Gold is still going strong after what must be 50 years!

In town for the week, needed a quick decent cut. Alec is the best! My first all straight razor cut and boy is that life changing. Highly recommended and cozy place!

I’ve never had a worse haircut experience. This is the place for you if you want to tell someone exactly how you want your hair(especially if it’s not complicated at all) and then have them completely ignore you and give you a cheap looking, average, cost cutters type hair cut. Ask for Christina and you definitely won’t leave looking how you wanted.

stopped in for a haircut early, 8:30 am. they were closed for the day for remodeling, but when i advised the owner that i’d called the evening before and was advised that they opened the next day at 8 am, with no mention of being closed, she graciously took me with no reservation or grumbling. good cheerful conversation with her and the guy who was working on the place, good haircut, $ 20(i’m a short clipper cut, so don’t know how the prices range for other styles). happy haircut and on my way.

Nice college atmosphere with the CU clientele. My barber knew his stuff, gave me a great cut for $ 20. Very competitive price. Nice experience overall. I’ll be back regularly.

I love this barber shop. The environment is fun and the music is good. I’ve had my hair cut here several times by Leslie. Every cut has been exactly how I like it. I highly recommend Silver and Gold.

Called and was told to come in. Showed up and told me they were closed while they had people sitting and waiting. Some bullshit.

My hair is nothing fancy, so usually I can’t tell a good hair cut from a bad one. I do know that I really enjoyed my time at Silver & Gold. I was greeted by 3 nice hair cutters when I walked in. I waited maybe 5 minutes before it was my chance to sit down. My hair cutter understood what I told her to do, and she gave me a great cut in half the time I am used(of course what I am used to are students at an Aveda school before I moved to Boulder… they do a good job, but take forever). The extras though really put it over the top for me, though. They do a straight-edge shave of the back of your neck if you desire. After that I got a 5 minute shoulder rub. Wonderful. For $ 20 bucks, I really don’t think I need to keep looking for a barber. The only downside is they do not do face shaves at this location. You have to go around the corner to the original shop for that. Its a good excuse to take another break for a day later this week though and get a relaxing shave.

At first it was hard to find a relaible business in boulder to cut my hair, no appointment needed. If you need a great hair cut ask for Ricky he is the real deal.

It took me a while to find a place that actually cares about doing good job cutting my hair. A lot of places around Boulder do a half-ass job, and if you request additional trimming because they didn’t do it right in the first place, they make it worse as retaliation.(Since they have the weapons in their hands, I usually settle with the lousy cut and never return.) Here at Silver & Gold, they work with me until they get it right. Now they know what I want, my style, so they get it right the first round and they can do it fast too, so I’m happy and I tip them as well as I can afford in return for their excellent service.

Silver and Gold is a long time(50+ years) family-owned Boulder staple. I’ve gotten my hair cut here for over 20 years. Everybody is super friendly and they give a good haircut for cheap($ 16, less if you’re a student/ROTC). They are currently(as of January 2011) in a small spot next to the Sink on 13th street while the building on College is redeveloped.

Overall great service and haircuts. That said, I have had one bad haircut there. However, I have been going to Silver and Gold for 5 years, and Lori never disappoints. Her dad, Fred is a WWII veteran, and founded Silver and Gold when he got back from the Pacific. The place has a retro vibe, and Fred has some WWII memorabilia in the back. A men’s haircut is around $ 15 bucks, which is a great value that is hard to find nowadays.

Silver and Gold has been in business for many years. It says a lot that they have been serving many generations of locals, as well as CU students. I’ve been getting my hair cut there for almost 15 years. You don’t need an appointment, and I usually don’t have to wait long. Many of the people working there have done so far years, there isn’t a lot of turnover. I’ve never gotten a bad haircut here; and it’s always interesting to get your hair cut at the same time as an ROTC student is getting a buzz cut and someone else is having their purple Mohawk trimmed. Haircut as good, price is reasonable, and every stylist is friendly and professional. If you try this place, you’ll become a regular!
