I know a one star review looks harsh, but seriously this place is a huge let down. This is the second take out taco place that I have ordered from since the new semester has started and I am seriously disappointed. First of all the price for how big the tacos are is absolutely outrageous. 5 Dollars for a single taco thats about the size of the top of a solo cup(4 inches max), filled half way with ingredients is insane! Miami’s Authentic Mexican Café sells 3 six inch tacos for 7.50. Secondly the meat in every one of my 4 tacos was dry and unappealing, not to mention the other ingredients weren’t even accurate to the menu. My Double G taco consisted of only lamb and feta, there was no coconut guacamole on my Cayman taco, and what they called«potato strings» on the Asado taco were in reality 4 thick cut french fries. I payed 32DOLLARSFOR4MINIATURETACOS that weren’t even made with quality ingredients. Not to mention IMSTILLHUNGRY! If I am paying 32 dollars for 4 tacos I expect each taco to be at least 6 inches long and made with the freshest ingredients around. Not to mention they should have painstakingly checked my order to see if it was right for how much it was. It’s honestly embarrassing to make a taco wrong that is off your own menu with no special request made. If you want tacos DONTORDERFROMHEREFIND A DIFFERENTTACOPLACETHEREAREALOTINBOULDER. I made this Unilocal account just to write this review, thats how dissatisfied this experience made me.

So here’s the low down on taco junky Good drinks, good service, tasty tacos The bad though is the tacos are tiny. Velvet taco in Chicago is a dollar more expensive per taco and double the size. Yes this is not Chicago but $ 4 for a tiny ass 3 inch taco is a bit obscene. I won’t be back.

Did take out from Hungry Buffs. Note that the tacos are pretty small. Two is not enough for a meal. Maybe three, or if you want enough food to compare with something from Efrains or Three Margaritas, four or five. But maybe this is not a fair comparison given the variety and novelty of items on Taco Junky’s menu. I ordered the Cayman, which was good. Both my wife & I also ordered the Asado: «flat iron steak, chimichurri, potato strings.» Neither of us like it. My thoughts while tasting it was«Hmm, I don’t like this very much. … So much so that I wonder if something is *wrong* with this, like an ingredient is spoiled or something.» My wife thought the same thing. But maybe it was good chimichurri, and both of us happen to dislike it. A few hours later, no digestive problems to report.

Killer. Tequila flight – amazing. Tacos were so different and so wonderful. Really friendly staff. Visiting from out of state but will definitely come back.

If you are a college kid, this place is probably great. But it’s not right for adults. The food and service are pretty poor. The $ 9 taco deal for three tacos and three shots of tequila is a poorly disguised way to draw bodies into the establishment. Don’t need to return.

I’ve come here twice over the last few months. My first experience wasn’t anything amazing but I also just stopped in for some drinks with friends. The second visit for food and drinks was much worse and it reminds me of why I should take some reviewers more seriously, as Unilocalers seemed mixed on how this place was. To start we were greeted by a pretty middle-aged woman who appeared to be the owner or manager. She told us to sit where we’d like and we chose a half booth /half table. The two of us sitting at the booth immediately noticed a subwoofer /bass directly below us; no big deal, I like music. It was almost 10PM and we only had to wait a minute or two for service from our waitress. Two of us ordered a House Margarita and two ordered beers. The waitress returned pretty quickly to let us know that they were out of the beer we wanted, so everyone ended up getting the House Margaritas. We got them pretty quickly and some of us immediately noticed that the taste was mostly Margarita Mix and lacked the distinct Tequila taste. Having everyone try each others’ Margaritas led us to the same conclusion; two people got the watered down mix and tequila while the other two got lots of Tequila with only a little mix. Shake! When we told the waitress, she assured us «there’s alcohol in it,» even though that certainly wasn’t the point of contention. Regardless, she got the issue resolved and we were satisfied with the drinks once they were fixed. When we ordered food, we were immediately told of two tacos that they wouldn’t have. Out of like 6 or so on the menu… So we all made our choices amongst the truncated list(which no longer included Bulgogi Korean BBQ Pork) and waited for the food. It took maybe 10 minutes for the food to arrive and immediately I could tell my Lamb was cold as if it was refrigerated and not heated. The other 3 members of my party agreed that their Lamb Taco was cold too. I returned the food asking for it to be re-heated and was promptly given two fresh Lamb tacos that were cold again! As someone who eats sushi and lots of cold food, this wouldn’t be a big deal if they just made you aware of the serving temperature of that taco on the menu. Needless to say I didn’t finish the cold Lamb Tacos and the Spanish Rice was hot /warm and had good flavor but nothing great. There are certainly better places to find tacos in Boulder than Taco«Junky.» I probably won’t return.

I am a big taco lover and if you are too, this is not your place. There was nothing on the menu I was really looking for. This taco joint is not traditional! Furthermore, there were many of times my food order was messed up and they do not know how to handle large parties. The margaritas are sour and taste like margarita mix. Overall, the service and the food is very unsatisfactory.

You never know when you will be eating the best taco in your life but when you do you will have seconds and thirds. You will eat until you can eat no more and be sad because you are full. This is what happened to me at Taco Junky, on the Hill in Boulder Colorado. Try the Bulgogi Korean BBQ pork with Asian slaw and sesame or get lost in food nirvana with the B+ OMEGA3. This inappropriately named gem of a taco should be called«heaven on earth». It doesn’t end there the CGS taco with ginger garlic shrimp and homemade kimchi is superb. The Asado flat iron steak with Chimichurri and potatoes strings is also noteworthy. Top it off with the infused tequila nugs(angel food cake dunked in habenero infused tequila, flash fried and rolled in chili powder, cinnamon and sugar, topped with cinnamon cocoa bean sauce and blackberry jam.) I highly recommend this incredible hot spot on the hill. Also the owner Toula Georgakopoulos is super nice! Please open your second location in San Clemente, CA.

Besides the fact they were out of everything. I found their rice to be very fishy tasting. The bartender was nice although seemed a bit uninterested in what was going on. Maybe it was the fact it was hot. Maybe the fact I was the only one. I don’t know. Maybe his girlfriend was on that time of the month. Regardless the drink they didn’t have but he concocted something similar which not going to lie was pretty tasty. Sweet lava. I don’t know. It was ok. The taco. Hmmmm they were out of one that I ordered so 2 came out and that fishy odd tasting rice. That taste is still in my mouth. I don’t know, maybe Mexico has ruined me from liking tacos not made by Mexican hands but I just didn’t care for it all. Not much flavor for what they looked like. All in all. I would probably go to that one place on the corner that was filled with hippies and hipsters. I know their drinks and food are good. That’s is all.

Went with some friends last week before a show at the Fox. Noticed the very mixed reviews but figured it’s worth a shot as you can’t believe everything you read on Unilocal. Had a beer at the bar before my friends got there, friendly bartender, reasonable prices and good selection. We then took a table and it was about 10 minutes before we ever got noticed. We then got waters and were asked if we wanted to order without ever getting menus. We then ordered a round of drinks and chips and salsa. When our drinks arrived we were handed menus and told some items(the crossed off ones) weren’t available. This happens, no biggie right? As it turns out at least ¾ of the tacos were crossed out, as were 2 out of 3 sides and I believe some other things. Pretty unbelievable. Seems like they were out of most of their proteins so we were left with chicken, veggie or plantain chip tacos. We wrapped up our drinks and left. Nothing like essentially having no choices, especially when their main draw is in fact the tacos. It was only about 7PM at this time. As for what we did have, the salsa was pretty decent but pretty sparse in the chips given. In addition, a solid business practice or experienced server should have let us know about the food shortage before we ordered $ 25 worth of drinks.

We had Taco Junky cater a CU graduation party for our daughter and her roommates. We ordered the steak and chicken tacos, salsas, chips and guacamole, rice and beans. They delivered the food on time and set it up for us with warming trays. The food was really amazing and well received by all! It was really great not to have to worry about picking up the food ourselves right after graduation. It was very easy to work with Toula and her staff, she even went back to bring us additional plates because we forgot to buy enough! The tacos were yummy and the service was the best!

I’m really surprised this place doesn’t have a higher average rating. I first tried/heard about this place at the Best of Boulder event where they were sampling a few of their tacos. My boyfriend and I were both really impressed so we went to the restaurant when my vegetarian friend was in town. We all got an assortment of different tacos(with several veggie options for my friend) plus the salsa/guac sampler and I got a margarita with one of their infused tequilas. Everything was really good! I absolutely loved my margarita. I’m very much a guacamole snob(it’s hard to beat the guac I make in my molcajete at home) but we all agreed all the salsas and guac that we tried were super delicious. I’m not a huge fan of their avocado tacos, we make our own at home that are better, but all the other tacos were yummy. You can’t go into this place thinking you’re going to get a traditional taco, and maybe that’s why some of the reviews aren’t very good. The tortillas are just a vessel for the inventive things the chefs cook up. It’s a really fun place, good music, good service, no complaints here. I don’t go to the hill very often(too many undergrads for my taste) but when I do I will definitely come back.

The waitperson was attentive, but the food was unappealing, even for taco lovers. I was there for lunch on a Tuesday: two customers came in, glanced at the menu, and left. The rest of the time, I was alone in the restaurant with one other customer during what should have been the lunch rush. I was so looking forward to the new restaurant after being a longtime fan of Mamacita’s and the restaurant that – for a short time – replaced it. I do wonder about the widely disparate reviews…

Even 1 star is too generous to give. First we walked in and had to awkwardly stand in the middle of restaurant because no one greeted us or told us if we could seat ourselves. After taking our order, our food sat in the food window for 10 mins while our server failed to notice our food was out. Got our food and one of our plates was missing the main sauce that completes the dish, the other two had things in it that we specifically asked not to include, and nothing in the breakfast burrito was chopped up. Did not enjoy eating huge onion chucks for breakfast. When we told our server, nothing was done about it. Waste of space on the hill and way too over priced for low quality food you could make better yourself at home.

Got the Friday special of three basic tacos(chicken or beef) and a flight of three infused tequila shots. Tacos were awful. Tasted worse than elementary school cafeteria tacos. Then half of the tequila shots were spilled on my friend’s lap when they were delivered. The infused tequila was ok but nothing great. Because they spilled tequila on us they comped a lot of our meal and drinks but overall not a place we’ll ever go to again.

In short: Taco JUNKY’s seriously delicious food, top-notch tequila bar and EPIC wall art justify a trip to ‘The Hill.’ You won’t be disappointed. The epitome of what brunch is supposed to be. Hands down the best food on ‘The Hill!‘ For the point-by-point: At this writing I was going to give the place four stars because I keep coming back, however after having my expectations for brunch blown out of the water five-stars it is. The service is great! I’m sitting here fully satiated drinking mimosas and coffee. Brunch: *POT-TOCBENNY and PORKBELLYCHILIQUILLESVERDE are phenomenal hangover food but not in the sense that you only want to eat when you’re hung-over. I can’t wait to come back. Gluten-free options available: All tacos are available on flour, corn or lettuce leaf. Toula, one of the partners, is really passionate about all things Taco JUNKY. She is more than happy to explain the deeper meaning of the AMAZING wall mural. Will, the head chef, brings amazing talent and worldly flavors to the menu. Talking to him is a joy, especially for how humble he is about his craft. The Tequila BAR: Totally awesome if you’re in the mood for all things tequila. If not they have all the normal trappings too. Infused Tequila Flavors: cucumber, pineapple habanero, apple cinnimaon, jalapeño, watermelon basil, strawberry mint, ginger pear, and blueberry. Choose 3 for a tequila flight for $ 9 say WHAT!!! This place is definitely under the radar. It’s not overrun with college students like Illegal Petes.

Deep fried avocado Taco. Caribbean curry chicken, coconut guacamole, and mescal pineapple taco. Sasparilla short rib carnitas, with scallion crema, pickled onion taco. I could go on, but it would be better if you just ate them. All. Love the chef. Love the drinks.

I went here with some friends for a late lunch/happy hour kinda thing. I heard they had a deal for 3 tacos and a flight of tequila for $ 10 on Fridays, which is mainly why we went. The service was really slow and we were one of 2 tables. I actually had to go to the bar to ask if someone could take our order, it still took 10 min before the server made it to our table. Once we finally got to order we were told that the taco/tequila deal doesn’t start until 6(after happy hour ends), but we could still get $ 3 margaritas. No big deal, plus the margaritas were pretty good. As we waited on our food we became increasingly irritated by the very loud 80s rock music. It was so loud we could barely have a conversation. The food finally came, and while it was edible, it really wasn’t particularly good. The tacos are too weird, with too many ingredients. It’s like every taco is some kind of weird fushion situation. I had a buffalo taco, a Asian salmon taco, and a Greek lamb taco. I didn’t read the menu close enough and was shocked by the presence of mashed potatoes in the buffalo taco. I think if they simplified their tacos or at least had one or two traditional taco options it would have been better. I had high hopes for this place, but it needs some work.
