Fantastic. Quick bite of calamari, smashers and pork green chili. To top it off, excellent service. One adult with three kids is a hard crowd to serve and they did it so patiently and sincerely.

From the moment I walked in The Kitchen Next Door, i knew it was gonna be good dining experience. Great atmosphere, games on the shelves, unique menu and friendly staff. Right away we were greeted by a server, who offered to grab us drinks. We each got a half pint IPA(who knew that even existed?) for $ 3. Great start. Both my friend and I were indecisive on what to eat so we decided to split two dishes. We shared the Pineapple Express burger and the roasted veggie salad with hummus. The burger was unreal. Never have I ever thought to put(balsamic) pineapple on my burger, and i love pineapple! Genius. Plus honey sriracha sauce, swiss, bacon and arugula. Wowza. Explosions in my mouth. The salad was also especially delicious. Gotta love those roasted veggies with hummus. Like I said before, solid dining experience PLUS playing bananagrams throughout our time there. Not sure it gets much better than that.

When we’re walking around Pearl St, we got really good vibes from their outside seating which was nearly full. So we decided to have a lunch here. We were seated promptly by a waitress and handed menus and glasses of water quickly. Seemed they’re particular about ingredients which very much suits us. All dishes tasted really good, especially salmon steak! It was very thick and juicy but not fishy. But the bread that came with soup was nearly burnt and we didn’t think their seat was comfy and relaxed. Furthermore, the service was good enough though not very impressive. Nothing wrong, perhaps we might come back here again. It might be a great place for hanging out with friends over drinks. Since there’re a lot of nice dining places around Boulder downtown, we’re not determined.

Everyone at work recommended that I visit Boulder and Pearl Street during my stay in Colorado. I decided to eat at the Kitchen Next Door as I wanted something low key and less expensive. Ordered the beet burger and the garlic smashers. I’m a fan of anything made of beets so the burger was delicious with the caramelized onions and the arugula. The garlic smashers were crispy and delicious. Although, the smashers didn’t have enough garlic. I wanted these to be pungent with garlic flavor. The meal was a good price of $ 11 + tip. Service was fine throughout the evening. Although, there was a hiccup where I went to the restroom and my table setting and cup of water was removed from the table. One inconvienece of being a solo diner.

Pros: The beer was good! Cons: Service was painfully slow(as in we waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink orders, and then the drinks didn’t come out until after the food, and after we asked a second time). The entrée(Lamb Philly special) was fine but not mind-blowing. The dessert(lemon poppyseed cake) had an undercooked texture, no lemon flavor, and in fact hardly had any flavor at all. To top it off, when the waiter asked how I liked the dessert and I responded with a shrug, «OK I guess» and a less-than-pleased face there was no follow up. If you’re going to bother asking how the food is, it would be nice if you cared about the response. The ambience is also less than ideal; it’s very noisy.

Had dinner there on V-day. The shrimp tacos were awful. My son’s chicken Cesar salad tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for weeks. The only reason I’m giving it a 3 is because of the service. Our waiter was great.

Now let start out by saying this the kale chips are like crack. The kitchen next door has a kinda modern pub design and an inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend the sandwiches the milk shakes and of corse the kale chips which as you can see I’m very fond of. The ingredients are all extremely fresh resulting in pub food that doesn’t send you to the bathroom. If you have a group of people I highly recommend paying the kitchen next door a visit.

The food here is absolutely worth a five-star rating. Unfortunately, the ambiance leaves something to be desired. Primarily: It’s loud. The acoustics have aways been weird in the building and there’s not much to be done about it. On the plus side, the noise is made by the satisfied customers who keep coming back because, really, the food is fantastic. Try the garlic smashers or the kale chips!

SOGOOD! Great trendy atmosphere, great service and great food. I ordered a pineapple burger with Swiss cheese, bacon, and honey Sriracha sauce. It was phenomenal. We both ordered Moscow Mules, which were very refreshing. Definitely will come back, if I’m in town!

Smashers. Kale chips. Tomato soup. So many good things here and a perfect place to bring the kids for community/happy hour. They have great, affordable wines and beer on tap and the staff is happy and fun. It’s a busy place so we usually try to go on the early side. Otherwise, there’s a good chance you might have to wait and we all know that’s not easy with kids!

Awesome design and interior space, cool concept(make sure you read the restaurant bio on their website, you are definitely supporting more than just a fine restaurant) Food is fresh and innovative; popular and newer trendy healthy ingredients. I would highly recommend the beet, yes I said beet, burger. Also anything with Kale, this restaurant dials up some great kale dishes, really puts thought into them.

Love this place. Great vibe, friendly servers, and really great food. Prices are pretty good also. Had cheesesteak sandwich and it was great. Definitely worth a try!

I’ve Unilocaled about it before, and I am Unilocaling about it again. I am in love with the Herb Marinated Chicken Sandwich. It comes with an arugula salad, and while I like(but not love) argula, I made a [recommendable] decision to add a side of Balsamic Beets to my order. They come with feta crumbles and toasted almonds. Incredible! AFTER I snapped the pic(sorry), I added the beets to my arugula salad, and it was heaven! The beets seem steep in price($ 4) but well worth it! So next time you are there, order the Herb Marinated Chicken Sandwich and a side of Balsamic Beets. Not pictured, my strong but delicious dessert of a Next Door Mule drink(Mell, ginger liqueur, lime & soda).

Their burgers are excellent. I had the Kobsterstein Ranch Dry Aged Cheese Burger and a yummy arugula salad. The Kale chips are delicious but a little too greasy. The crispy garlic smashers didn’t deliver for me — they weren’t that crispy and not that garlic-y(despite the blobs of garlic); perhaps I enjoy garlic too much and was hoping they would have a strong garlic flavor that would be evenly distributed. I know next time I’ll have to try the honey sriracha wings. Sounds good! Price point is reasonable. Definitely a hip place to eat with friends. Fries were good! I would definitely eat here again — happily so.

Best burger in Boulder! The next door had that casual gastro pub ambiance, complete with communal seating and modern wood & steel décor. The servers are friendly and professional. The ingredients used are local, organic and healthy selections! Our burgers were cooked perfectly and I loved the side options, like beets, Moroccan veggies or garlic smashers/fries. They charge for side sauces, like many of the gourmet burger scenes do across the country… but sirracha aioli is worth it. ;) The Next Door kitchen serves a solid selection of craft beers and cocktails, they seem to have a more casual and fun vibe compared to the Kitchen.(Note there are two Kitchen namesakes next to each other)

Great place to bring out-of-state folks! Here’s how I would describe The Kitchen Next Door: laid-back fine dining. The food is of high quality, but there’s no air of pretentiousness about it. Good food should just speak for itself, and at The Kitchen Next Door it does! I ordered their beet burger out of curiosity, and it was amazing! I was impressed with how much flavor they added to a simple beet. Truly, there is no shortage of twists on standard dishes on their menu. The wait time can be long, especially on a Friday night when the Pearl Street mall is teeming with people. For a while, the long wait time actually made me avoid The Kitchen Next Door, but once I decided to get over the 30 – 40 minute wait time, I discovered why there’s a long wait time in the first place! This place really embodies the Boulder food scene – it’s fresh, local, and delicious.

Had a fun lunch here today. Party of 3, not very busy so we were seated immediately. Friendly service by beautiful server. Had the mussels and shrimp tacos, both were excellent. Great atmosphere and casual ambience; natural lighting inside is nice also. Would certainly recommend to friends.

The short version– Delicious food(the burger is awesome and you have to try the bacon wrapped dates!) in a casual style setting. The long version — met some friends here for dinner after a big day of racing bicycles, we were pretty hungry(and tired) the menu has some good variety, burgers, bangers and mash, tacos. We were served quickly, our server was happy to answer some questions and make suggestions. We got a bangers and mash, the burger with bacon and the tacos along with a tomato soup, bacon wrapped dates, garlic smashers and a beet salad. The food came out pretty quick and was really good, my burger was juicy but not dripping down my hand. The garlic smashers(potato wedge type dish with garlic) were awesome and the tomato soup was really thick and luscious. We were all really satisfied and would definitely come back.

Consistently delicious food and friendly service at an affordable price as expected with this Colorado-based restaurant family! This eatery is located just next door(obviously) to the first Kitchen location in historic downtown Boulder. The outdoor seating area is ideal for people watching! Like other Next Door locations, the spacious and modern dining area is very inviting and relaxing! They have a lot of local beers on tap and the cool bar is certainly the focal point of the space! There is limited outdoor seating option along the side walk but you can enjoy the nice view from the bar top along the window. There have plenty of vegetarian options and fresh salads! I ordered my usual – beet burger and my friend ordered the Carolina pulled pork. Both didn’t disappoint! The pork was very tender and moist and the bun was perfectly toasted! The beet burger has so much flavor which is rare. The feta cheese and caramelized onions helped to accomplish this task! The slaw that came with the sandwiches were refreshingly delicious too! If you’re looking for a farm-to-table eatery in downtown with a relaxing vibe and affordable price point, check out this place and I guarantee it won’t disappoint!

This place is so likable until you come a few times. I’ve had the burger 3 times now and it went from not bad to why did I just order this again? It is grass fed, but it’s dry, small, and forgettable. I got a side of garlic aioli to add some moistness to balance it out but the«medium rare» burger I’ve ordered 3 times now still comes out medium well every time. The meatballs and grits were decent but I don’t think they are $ 13 decent. The mashers are worth a try but the staff will recommend them every time as amazing. They have a small draft beer selection and nice cocktail list. The ambiance is superb — farm to table meets industrial. Maybe I should come back and stop ordering the burger and go for one of the $ 18 and up main courses.

This place ALMOST gets 4 stars. That is only because they go out of their way to source local, sustainable ingredients. Grass fed, birth-to-slaughter beef is hard to find, even in Boulder. The list of farmers who supply their organic produce is extensive. However, this is Boulder. It’s an enlightened town of Foodies and therefore the stakes are higher. The only place The Kitchen Next Door falls short is in properly executing the quality ingredients they are working with. Everything was a solid ‘meh’. The Cole slaw was bland and tasteless, my burger patty undersalted and my husband was only excited about the pickles in his Cuban. If you are eating a Cuban sandwich the pickles should NOT be what stands out. This is the second time I have been here and the previous experience was also uneventful. Service is good, food is edible but best enjoyed by people afraid of salt and bold flavors. We’ll try something else next time.

Pretty decent, I like the vibe in there. The servers were super friendly. I had the Koberstein burger(note: they make their burgers a little more overdone… so if you want medium — ask for medium-rare as i should have) Overall I would recommend to at least visit it once. I can see it being a great brunch spot on the weekends.

I came here as part of a food tour and was treated to small bites of several signature dishes including; hummus, kale chips, calamari, pork sliders, potatoes, and a gluten free cookie(that tastes NOTHING like gluten free). All this plus a choice of wine or beer to go with! Everything was delicious! I would definitely come back!

It’s wonderful to see this place back to their previous good food and service. We had not been for a while and though most of the menu is still the same, there are a few newer items and a better interpretation of some of the older items. We were so happy to see this. The restaurant and bar are also back to being extremely busy, so be forewarned. The days of waiting are back. But we ate at the bar, had wonderful service from the bartender and excellent food. He made great recommendations for both drinks and food. I especially liked the cider choice and the lighter(than it used to be) version of the calamari. Wednesday night has live music, though a bit loud for some of our party, was enjoyable nonetheless. Kitchen Next Door is back on our regular rotation!

Dinner with family was easy and comfy. The waitress was attentive and helpful. We all shared and loved the smashed tatters and liked the beets and feta… delicious! The Cuban pork sandwich was a bit dry, but found the side of coleslaw crispy and plentiful. Others liked the salmon sandwich, the beet burger and the veggie loaf with polenta and kale.

A hipster magnet this is, clearly, next door to The Kitchen. As I’m expensing I didn’t feel right going to expensive. I bellied up to the bar and ordered a beer and the cuban sandwich. The bartender was great and suggested the garlic smashers. Kind of their take on fries he said. They are smashed potatoes, sauteed in garlic and then deep fried. Awesome. For desert I got the suggested bread pudding special. Equally great. Highly recommended for a casual, hipster, make you feel old kinda night.
