Great fenced in dog park with covered benches, lawn chairs, and baby pools. Both the small and large dog sections are spacious. I do wish there were more shady areas for the dogs so they could play longer on really hot days. Otherwise, it’s a great park!

Great place to take your dog. Lots of space to run, play, even climb. Some shade but on the hot days there are not a lot of places to rest so look for the trees around the edges. Most of the owners are friendly and the dogs are well behaved. The only problem right now(and this is relatively new) is the new bag vendor. I am not sure what the issue is, but the new bags are not very good and are hard to open. So bring long fingernails or plan to wrap up the poop instead of bagging it. Other than that, great place and just another great thing about Boulder.

The recent renovation is wonderful. The park feels groomed, with nice small rocks for easy poop clean-up, separate grass and small dog areas, and rocks, a fire hydrant, and other objects to add interest for sniffing. They also have a covered hutch and covered picnic bench for rainy days for owners, a bench at the far end of the park and lots of donated lawn chairs to sit on. I particularly like that they provide biodegradable bags and dumpster where to throw the poop. On Saturdays, the friends of valmont dog park come and give the park a thorough clean up. Things I’m not a huge fan of: 1.) Rules about aggressive dogs and humping dogs need to be enforced, but also enforced without yelling. A big help would be clearly posted signs at the entrances because some people just don’t know that sort of behavior isn’t appreciated. Yelling doesn’t seem to teach those pesky people manners. 2.) I wish no smoking were better enforced. My favorite is when smokers sit under the covered seating and smoke so all of us non-smokers have to stand in the rain or be exposed to cancer. Lovely. 3.) The bags provided sometimes don’t rip properly and people(silly people) give up in frustration and just leave the poop. Shame on them, but the bag situation could definitely be improved. Overall this is a great place to take your dog. p. s. My dogs got giardia or something quite nasty from the park as well and we had a very icky incident on an 8 hour drive the next day. Luckily I had a dog blanket or I would have literally been up shit’s creek. Watch your pooches like a hawk and don’t let them eat or drink anything at the park you didn’t provide.
